5:00 they did the jump scare to you lol. And you are right. It’s an experience. Love how you closed your eyes and let that solo happen. What’s so great is that they have such a variety of sounds. So many different sounding songs. But uniquely zeppelin.

"This is basically like a hidden gem". You hit the nail on the head and that is the EXACT reason why I so often advocate for starting Zep in album/track order because requests alone do NOT tell the full story! This song is off their first album and takes some inspiration from Howlin' Wolf's "How Many More Years" as well as "The Hunter" by Albert King with Booker T and the MGs and I think Robert threw a couple other references in there for good measure. Jimmy used a violin bow on his guitar for this. I am so glad you understand that Zep music is a journey and I agree, if you're just listening but not *listening* you are doing a disservice to both the music and yourself. I know you've already done a lot of Zep, but please do consider starting at the beginning and fill in what you haven't reacted to already because not only is each song a journey, each album shows definite changes in musicality and creates new entities in themselves. Hell - react to a song you've already heard again anyway so that you get the full flavor of the album and don't miss anything - Zep fans will be here for it!

Thank you for this reaction! This has always been my favorite Led Zeppelin song! The riff is killer! The dynamics of all the different musical sections hit in all the right spots, from Jimmy Page's nuclear Bolero guitar solos, to the Yardbirds-styled rave ups, to the lower registered psychedelic section with violin-bowed guitar, to Robert Plant's blues-pastiche lyrics. Let's not forget the powerhouse playing from one of rock's greatest rhythm sections! Love you, you're beautiful! Love your reactions! I bet you would love the live performance of Kashmir that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant played on MTV, they are augmented by a Moroccan orchestra, it will bring you to tears!

My first listen to one of your reactions to Zeppelin and I really enjoyed it. Thanks!
I love this song. Just imagine, it was recorded in 1968 when Plant and Bonham were both barely 20 years old, Jones was 22, Page only 24. Clearly very gifted musicians as individuals but as a group, they were a frigging force riding the same musical wavelength. :)
I'm going to second the recommendation made by Henrietta. There are a lot of "hidden gems" on their albums that don't get recommended for some reason. Instead of relying on recommendations, I think you'd really enjoy discovering those gems yourself by going back to the beginning with album 1 track 1, then just keep going. You've already heard a couple of songs from their early albums but approaching it as a "whole album experience", which was how Zep preferred their music be listened to (and why they released only a couple of singles), it might be a cool experience for you. Just a thought. :)
Edit: I've subbed and will go back and listen to all of your Zep reactions, as well as other reactions you've done. Looking forward to getting "caught up" and watching more. ;)

Headphones weren't the preferred way to listen to a new Zeppelin album back then. Mostly for the quality of them in the early 70s. There were just a few really good ones. I, and perhaps others, had "Stacks" with: amplifiers, radio receivers, turntables, cassette decks, perhaps reel-to-reel, equalizers, and really big giant and clear speakers. And then you'd wait........for the next Zeppelin album to be released. Heaven. Regarding this one being a hidden gem...Zeppelin recorded 108 songs. I love about 100 of them. Many months ago, I think I listed less than a dozen more for you to try. And I added; you'd be better off just listening to every song from every album, because I had them all. ♥
