    I broke 80 for the first time last week. Feels good playa. I can directly credit your 3x6 (6 groups of 3 holes) system as a huge reason why. Forever grateful 🙏🏻

    Biggest change for my game was concentrating on my game, not the other people i play with. Stopped really comparing my game to theirs.
    Next change was no hero shots or shots that had a 50% chance of success.
    This changed my game. I now ask on every shot: what do i want to do? Can i do it? Did i achieve what i wanted to do? If not, why did i not?

    This is gold stuff for me personally. Once I started planning the hole backwards golf seemed to get easier. Ever been on a par 5 and your second shot you want to put to the 100 yard stake? And you basically hit the stake? No pressure, no trying to kill it, none of that, just hitting the golf ball to that open area of fairway 100 yard stake. Easy life and I like 100 yard in. I LIKE. YOU may not, but I do. Much better than trying to smash something hit it fat and end up 60 yards out. I'd take 100 over 60 any day and I'm sure LOTS of golfers would say the same. I thought Bee Yaus was Lithuanian personally :)

    Last Saturday, I won “Best Gross Overall” with 74 (+2) on the other course.
    Many thanks for introducing me this system.

    love this system and series! combining it with either the lying zero or +1 on every hole, a non stupid tee shot (5i for me), and a mindful short game and putting practice i can already feel how my scores are lowering and now i am shooting on the low 90s on a good day and on the high 90s on a bad one. sub90 is yet to be reached but i can feel it close!
    i got myself a good set of forgiving game improvement irons and a mallet putter with an oversized grip this year, plus some wedges that weren’t from the 1990s. right now i am going to the range exclusively with my putter, 52, 56 and pw to practice my green game, chipping and pitching, commiting to my short game so as to break 90 consistently soon, since my tee shot and 2nd shot are quite consistent for now. i really feel as if the key is within 120 yds, so that is my focus.
    thank you matt for this! golf is so much more enjoyable now (even more so with my cosmic playa polo and bucket hat)

    I always get a chuckle out of folks who say my SC200+ is useless because it isn't a GC Quad or Trackman. It gives me plenty accurate enough data (especially outdoors where I use it 90% of the time) and has helped a lot dialing in wedges. Thanks to that little monitor I have about three dead on distances with each wedge so from 100 yds in I'm getting very comfy.

    I usually note how many three-putts or worse after a round. I also use a very broad statistic I call a "wasted shot" which is a catch all for all shots that are mishits and lead me to not hit in green/fairway in regulation. I noticed over three rounds where I scored -4 , E, +5 that my best round had the fewest threeputts, and the most wasted shots and that my worst round had the most three putts and fewest wasted shots, and the even round was inbetween those in terms of those stats. Led me to practice more putting

    I also have a Swing Caddie Sc300i but it seems extremely conservative with my distances, especially with my irons. If I use the club according to Sc300i on the course, I end up in the forest behind the green. I mostly have to take almost 2 clubs less. Not sure if its just my weird swing..

    Matt, I struggle with Wedge Partial. When I start practicing Wedge Parcial, I start thinking about what I’m supposed to be doing that my body forgets to turn and shank city. I can be doing fine for 25 shots then boom, can’t hit another ball the rest of the day. I have some at home putting drills that have absolutely changed my putting. We could build a library of drills.

    I have mental problems with some courses. A few weeks back I played one course and it has always been a tough course for me and before I even started it got in my head. I shot over a 100, my worst score of the season. My next three rounds I played on different courses and went 85, 85, 80. I really need to stop thinking about how I played a course in the past and just hit the ball.

    So, I shot a career round the other day at a fun course. I didn't do anything stupid, hit solid shots and simply executed when it counted. i made my short (under 8ft) putts for 5 birdies and only made one bogey. My driver is solid, but it was my iron play that was crisp and that allowed me to hit some approaches close and make the birdies. The next day, I shot 79 and it felt like an 88 even though i birdies 1 and 17.

    Question: I use an app on my phone that also connects to sensors on my clubs to track distances. I have the average distance as well as what the app calls a "smart range" for each club. Now, this helps me on the course, but I have to always keep in mind that apps like that track distance from one shot to the next, which means it's total distance and not carry. I know carry is important, but am not sure how to get good carry numbers without investing more in a launch monitor or paying for time in a fitting bay. Is there any other way to learn, derive, or measure carry distances to better use the data to choose clubs?

    • @GolfSidekick
      @GolfSidekick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Look at your pitch marks whenever you re at your ball. Sometimes you won't see them but look around especially on the green or arou d the green. You can compare and see how much rollout you're getting. On practice rounds, attempt to clear something you are unsur eyou can clear. Hit 2-3 balls and see. If you can't clear it, then you know. If you can, then you know. Experiment and TAKE NOTES

    Onward and upward..not accepting one's ability to adapt, change and get better leaves you standing still. As an amateur myself the biggest thing I lose from time to time is the fun factor. When did amateur golf get serious? No doubt we all want to improve our game...all the time, but when does the road to improvement cause the setback. My fault is the disconnect as to why I started playing as a young man. The love of the game. Play on playas.

  • @ethansura
    @ethansura 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stroke gained exists - but it's not the thing you should focus on. You gotta focus on the process (i.e. sharpen your iron game, practice the game inside 150, keeping the ball in play, stay control of things you can control such as decision making and emotion, get the ball on the green regardless of where you are, being fully committed to the shot, and plan your way around the golf course the best to your ability). I've never heard Tiger or Rory talking about getting stroke gained metric to positive, they talk about boring stuffs like taking one shot at the time, staying committed to the golf shot, and keeping the ball in play, this includes reducing damage to bogey (might be par in par 5(s) or inside wedge distance).

    "Inside wedge range," yes subject to being honest what your own "wedge range," is realistically. For example even though I CAN hit my 58° 100 yards with a max effort swing, if I try to do so consistently it's a loser. At that range I should be taking SW or even a chippy GW. Your "wedge range," is made up of the yardages and clubs and shot combinations that gives you the best chance to GIOTG.
