SO glad Lego is developing original Space sets again. I feel like the fading of Star Wars has allowed breathing room for LEGO to give their own Space sets another shot.
@@alexnunes They're putting feelers out there for sure! They've been tossing a few out for AFOLs and I'm sure the bean counters are looking at sales data.
I think these sets look great. I am a long-time classic space collector who collects his childhood. I think this is great new fresh take on space. I can see kids of the appropriate age for these sets really having a good time with them. When I first saw "LEAKED" pics I said nope, but after watching you guys, and thinking about who these are for I actually gave them a chance. I will probably get them all. 😂
So my review worked? lol. Thanks! I actually felt the same way. I was pleasantly surprised as I built them. Glad to see LEGO making an effort. Now I just need them to go all in on Castle and Pirates.
Prices seem pretty reasonable for a mostly original theme with some new aspects. Looking forward to getting em all! I can’t wait to add them to the last space sets and see how they all integrate and look together.
Very seldomly do I ever want an entire range of a theme, but this has my full attention. A few thoughts. First its missing a big spaceship: flagship. I love the aesthetic. I think you are right with the color coded figures and roles; the dark color of each is the senior officer of the group. I think the aliens are cute to prevent them from being played with as hostiles. I wonder if they will keep this theme rolling. I'd love to see more.
The "emergency exit" from the base also looks like it can dock the "pods". Also...these really feel, with the color-coded suits, like a spiritual follow up to Classic Space and especially Futuron (with more white to everything than classic space). And boy am I here for it.
Y'alls reviews are so incredibly enjoyable to watch. Small snippets of humor like the "there you have it folks" immediately after Mindy shares her different opinion about the alien builds are hilarious and so informative at the same time. You two have great energy doing reviews together and your passion for the product creates such enjoyable videos to watch at home. Please never change.
The friends space set has compatible modules as well. The older space sets from a few years back are also structurally compatible, although not aesthetically compatible, with these space sets
@@alexnunes it’s set 42605 … interestingly, in that set, Olivia is talking via video to Nova, and in set 42603 Nova can be seen talking via video to Olivia
Imagine having a wife that lets you buy all the Lego you want, AND co-hosts a TH-cam channel where you talk about Lego, AND dresses up in Star Trek uniforms with you to present. This guy won at life
I think these all look great, but I probably won't get any of them. But 8-year-old me would have wanted every single one of these, especially the space station.
Your theory makes a lot of sense but also Mindy is very right, the darker colored minifigs are the leaders of each team, thus the black colored one is the leader of the whole expedition
Yup it pretty much goes like this... Gold- Commander Dark Blue- senior pilot officer Dark Green- senior science officer Brown- senior engineering officer Blue- pilots/vehicle operators Green- scientists Yellow- engineers/construction
Steering something with a screen is probably more intuitive for kids these days than the steering wheels you find in the classic space sets from the 70s.
I like to imagine the differently colored ones are the leaders of their certain squadron. The dark blue is the head pilot. The dark orange is the construction foreman, the dark green is the lead scientist/engineer, and the gold is the base commander.
Ever since I was a kid I always loved Lego's original space series. And seeing them come back around to this kind of stuff makes me incredibly excited. I will definitely be picking up these sets, they give me strong mars mission/ life on mars vibes.
It was so exciting to watch you both of your reactions to these sets. I am loving that some neat stuff is coming out of City. Also I am excited for all the kids that will get to enjoy Lego space sets.
These are great! So consistent across the line and all the sets seem to work together in different ways. Most importantly you can play with them! I just built an ice planet MOC ship with a docking rover and detachable drone and coupled with my old ice station odyssey set my son was having so much fun. He was loving all the play features and we were exploring the house with our ships. I’d love to do more of that with these sets as well as build MOCs. Great theme.
i’m rly glad there’s some original space stuff w some sci fi, i rly hope lego goes further in this direction. not so into the bigger sets this wave but a lot of the small ones i like
As an AFOL, nothing gets me more excited for new sets that Space Lego. All these sets look amazing and I'll be picking up all of them! I hope they extend the range with more sets.
A great review, thank you. Surely the power crystals are dilithium crystals? ✨The space sets are good, and mostly well-priced. Love seeing you both on the review.
Can the capsule module from the space station be attached to the ones at the ground base as well? If yes, then the possibilities are endless and we can buy a bunch of them to make a space colony.
12:43 for those of us who grew up during the {Motion Picture} years before the Wrath of Khan, one of the reasons why I like that movie (despite the story) was that we got to see the earth and support vehicles for Star Trek, there is a cargo train version of the Work Bee🐝. Can't wait to see what MOC builders will do for these sets at Brick World shows. And I wonder if those little green aliens are actually "little ones", because there is always a larger fish (Alien.)
Awesome new space sets. Reminds me of the classic space ,my favorite. Also probably the closest thing to Star Trek that we will get from Lego for now. Great video and review 😁👍.
thanks for the good look at these guys. I will def pick some if not all. Couple i'd like on discount but overall the pricing has gotten better this time round
I LOVE that they are brining this back this year! I can finally make another space lego series on my channel I plan to do it till may when we get a space minifig series with even cooler minifigures!! ❤
I couldn't resist and ended up picking up the entire new City Space line today. So far I'm having a blast as these sets remind me of the old Space lines I grew up with as well as another toy line I had as a kid, Starcom. Not to be that guy though, but I noticed you're actually missing a set from this line. Not counting the Space crossover with the other lines like Dreamzzz, Friends, or Technic there's a small hoverbike set with a blue pilot that comes in a polybag. So I think that's 23 minifigs in total.
I never was a huge space sets fan besides star wars. Usually its very earth based. And i dont want to collect the old space stuff(space Police if im right) but this is great. Great mix between normal space and sciencefiction. I will get all of these thanks to you 2 giving a full coverage
I think this could be one of Lego’s best selling themes this year and absolutely love them. I’m sure I will be beaming some if not all up at some point. I think the crystals could be dylithium crystals just like in Star Trek lol.
I'm loving this new space wave. I thought it might also go well with an older set. The 3-in-1 miner mech. The big mech had a computer sitting in the cockpit with transparent green pieces on one end and transparent purple on the other. So I thought what if this is a remnant of some exctinct alien civilization? The purple pieces are the power source and the green are the computer core. It was mining green crystals I thought might be some kind of ore that can supercharger computers.
Thanks for the review and entertainment. Based on what I've seen here, the sets look like a lot fun to fool around with. I'm very thankful there are no red shirts!
That would have been really fun if they included red shirts. I would not have been able to hold back on how they would all meet their doom on the alien planet.
Good review. You really covered all of the details. I think it's a very good step for Lego to have a sub theme shared by several themes. Let do castle next!
What about the 8th set, the new City Space polybag that goes with this subtheme, set 30663 “Space Hoverbike?” As with most polybags, it’s only purchasable from non Lego retail stores, like Target. Anyway, great video overview of this great new line. Love the Star Trek looks.
The two smaller ships and the smaller land rover are all a great value as you can purchase all three for under $80 (before tax). That feels like a lot of things.
I think that the characters with the darker helmets in the different factions are maybe the leaders. I definitely want to collect those pieces once they go on pick a brick!
When I saw the mini fig leaks of course very disappointing. However after seeing these sets and watching your reviews I definitely digging the sets and although still disappointed by the minifig CMF May we can see the direction they were going. I’m really liking theses sets and the “new” spacemen look pretty cool. The only thing missing was maybe an old Easter egg spacesuit for the old timer captain you mentioned. All but 1 seem reasonable priced.
Okay, so.. those look really cool actually. The rover with the articulated wheels reminds me of one of my favourite sets of all time, 6919 "Planetary Prowler" from the 1998 Insectoids. The space station looks awesome, even if I'm not sure how they're meant to get around easily, and the base also looks really cool. Like, a proper actual play set with cool play features. The entire base being designed around a crane that moves a small pallet from a truck into the cargo module on a spaceship is.. ehh, could be better, but it's something. I think if there had been some crates for them to pack the crystals and plants into for transport, that would be a bit better. I love the McGuffium crystals too, it takes me back to the special energy-elements and 'Voltstones' from themes like the aforementioned Insectoids and Rock Raiders. Also I'm kinda glad we're not fighting the evil aliens whose planet we invaded this time, like in Mars Mission. Even if I would have liked some laser cannons on the ships and such. If I can manage it, I'm definitely getting as many of these as I can. Maybe even some duplicates of that spaceship one! The designs of the vehicles are nice and clean, and the colour scheme is brilliantly consistent. I think some of the vehicles use some parts that unless I'm mistaken, are really big and kinda specific to their context, and I'd probably have preferred smaller parts to do a similar job, but it's not too big a deal. I do like the module system also. It reminds me of 7315 "Solar Explorer", from 2001's Life on Mars theme, which is another really cool set. The aliens are a bit disappointing though. Cute, but they really don't seem to ...do anything. Right? Lego seems pretty bad at having aliens/monsters that actually do stuff. The single-jointed aliens from "Mars Mission" for example, or the bugs in "Galaxy Squad". A lot of space themes in the 90s didn't even bother having another faction in the same theme. You want bad guys for the "Ice Planet" guys, go get the "RoboForce" guys. In "Space Police 3" it was.. a bunch of alien space truckers who were space-robbing the space-bank. Weird, but fine. At least in "Power Miners", the rock monsters were eating the same crystals the miners were after. In "Alien Conquest" it was a legit invasion fleet. In "Bionicle", the monsters were the pawns of two fraternal gods locked in an immortal battle between darkness and light over the power to shape time and space across the universe to their will.
Great comment. I can tell you have some great knowledge and experience with a lot of the sub space themes. LEGO is playing it safe with this one. That's why I felt like the aliens were a bit disappointing. Adding an opposing faction may have spiced things up, sort of like M:Tron and Blacktron. Those were great themes. Thanks for the info and I totally agree.
@@alexnunes Maybe for the next wave they should come up with some evil aliens who attack the cute green ones to harvest the same purple McGuffium crystals, then the astronauts could get reinforcements from their side, maybe in red suits (redshirts?) to help fight them off! :D
Best space sets in living memory. Better than I understood from the box art. Love the small ship and rovers. Bases are a bit meh, but the modular pod thingies are growing on me. Quick questions, are all the repeat ornate pieces stickers or prints? (especially the battery 1x2x).

Hello! Thanks. These sets were sent to me from LEGO for review. We build, review, and do a report back to LEGO on what we think and what others think about them.
Oh man, I love these!! I hope we get more waves like previous space themes and powerminers! It feels like that this is a perfect mashup to have all space themes like classic, space police, galactic squad, and power miners together for some reason Also love those shirts! My parents would love those 😅
This looks like a fun line for kids. I wonder if kids today will be nostalgic in 40 years for these sets. They can be the next generation of Jaabos and Bricktrains.
I still miss the Classic Space sets with their unique colours and designs. The 'City Space' sets aren't as imaginative or fun. They also look a bit boring. I like that they're giving Space some more thought now but why can't LEGO do Space like they used to? Star Wars 'grey' LEGO sets are so dull and there's no imagination that goes in to that. Give us the the original Space please!

lol that intro. Gear vid!
If I got the rovers I probbaly end up combining the vechiles together to build a bigger more moblie all terrine vechile
Will you be getting the eighth set to? The Space Science Lab to review’ I hear it is supposed to connect with the Space Base’
Where did u get these early?
Also great review
I love ur guys energy
Hello! Thanks. These sets were sent to me from LEGO for review. We build, review, and do a report back to LEGO on what we think and what others think about them.
@alexnunes awesome!
Love ur costumes
Oh man, I love these!! I hope we get more waves like previous space themes and powerminers! It feels like that this is a perfect mashup to have all space themes like classic, space police, galactic squad, and power miners together for some reason
Also love those shirts! My parents would love those 😅
This looks like a fun line for kids. I wonder if kids today will be nostalgic in 40 years for these sets. They can be the next generation of Jaabos and Bricktrains.
I was thinking this too. Will these be rare and valuable to the next generation? We might not be around when that happens.
There are alot of kits that are coming out that definitely need light kits.
Interesting how a few of the astronauts are similar in color to Buzz Lightyear. The one alien looks like an octopus with tentacle stubs.
thats the best intro ever XD also are you still doing Mindyfig Mayham?
Yes, we are still doing it. It has slowed down a lot. When we get a few we do an episode.
Do you know anything about the 40712 Space GWP for January of 2024? I still haven't seen any information on what it could be.
No, haven't seen anything on this yet, but I hear it will be a microscale rocket.
@@alexnunes Thanks for letting me know. Where did you hear about it being a microscale rocket?
estos sets me recuerdan mucho a la colección de 2007-2008 de Mars Mision
