I don't live in the US either, but I still consider it useful to be aware of some of the things that can go on in it. For this one I just wanted to see how many potentially stupid choices defendants of this case have made, but since youtube and other international companies publishing media it can be useful to stay somewhat aware of what is going on with laws that impact media distribution, copyright, etc. Places like the US and EU with ideas about how to enforce copyrights can have a big influence on platforms. With the above goal in mind I usually watch at least the informative and sometimes what seems potentially entertaining ones.

I'm pretty sure those desks are soul bound and are passed on to whoever frees their soul. I got one from my boss just after I chucked him out the third story window on to his car below. That's not very relevant. It's not like that supposed phone call really existed in the first place. The guy who claimed it did then went on to claim repeatedly that it was (must have been) Eric Comer in the "phone call", but the causality goes the other way--he wanted to make allegations about Eric Comer, so he made up a "phone call" which said stuff that was as specific as he thought would sound plausible. The "phone call" only didn't have someone saying "And now, allow me to introduce Eric Comer, the Such-and-Such of Dominion, so that he can incriminate himself" because that would be obviously ridiculous.

There might be _some_ grounds for a harassment claim, though its kind of shaky since his statements (I'm assuming) would have been made to other people rather than to her. And aside from that, there's unfortunately no laws against being an asshole, no matter how much harm it causes :(.
On second thought, there is another category of laws that might apply depending on where you live and when these actions took place: Anti-bullying laws. Those laws are fairly new though and definitely not standardized across states (never mind other countries) so YMMV but its at least a second possibility for anyone else who might suffer as your friend did.

As an Australian lawyer, I’m really enjoying your videos and learning about the American process. One thing I’ve always found strange is the fact you can attribute any number to your damages in the complaint. Our claims require that the originating motions/complaints already contain the particulars of how the Plaintiffs arrive at the damages sought. And also that people can apparently make any ol’ claim without there being a proper basis?
In the suit with Netscape Navagator ( N/N) v Microsoft(M/S), N N sued M/S for them not allowing thee use of N/N on any of their Ps. They only used M/S Explorer. It took 15 years for N/N to get them thru courts..M/S delayed for misapplication of one PERIOD. in one line of one suit! The ending WAS N/N won the LAwsuit and M/S had to pay arrears to the tune of ::ahem:: $215K. That was a slight slap on the wrist of M/S. I should have been $215M !

Back in the year 2000 everybody had widgets like that on their desktop.
I'm pretty sure those desks are soul bound and are passed on to whoever frees their soul. I got one from my boss just after I chucked him out the third story window on to his car below. There was a bunch of bright lights and a booming voice stating the desk was mine, so it felt pretty legit. There was also something or other about blood donations and sacrifice or whatever, but I was more focused on how I didn't have to work the rest of the Saturday. Anyway, I keep seeing images of my death in my dreams and whenever I spill coffee on the desk. Never when, only how. Green-screened dancing women stab a green sword through my ribcage before fading away.

The guy who claimed it did then went on to claim repeatedly that it was (must have been) Eric Comer in the "phone call", but the causality goes the other way--he wanted to make allegations about Eric Comer, so he made up a "phone call" which said stuff that was as specific as he thought would sound plausible. The "phone call" only didn't have someone saying "And now, allow me to introduce Eric Comer, the Such-and-Such of Dominion, so that he can incriminate himself" because that would be obviously ridiculous.

so, in my professional opinion, the play needs to be: swap out their real power for imagined power, coax them into writing fiction since its what theyre good at.... and the pray real real real hard to the gods i dont believe in that the more ridiculous stories they write, they might accidentally grow a conscience and some empathy

Regarding the 'unchaste' thing, when I was in high school a guy I knew wouldn't stop telling everyone he met about having had sex with a particular girl. He had done so, but he wouldn't stop telling everyone about it. He didn't care what it did to her, and no one did anything about it as far as I know. I definitely wish someone had taken legal action against him.
If somebody starts rumours that they slept with you, you can get back by spreading your own rumours of how bad they are in bed and make up weird fetishes they have. They've given you power over them without knowing it.
@@DFloyd84 imo, damaging them through the legal system seems much more satisfying than damaging their reputation through rumors. Though the latter seems fine when the former is unavailable.
There might be _some_ grounds for a harassment claim, though its kind of shaky since his statements (I'm assuming) would have been made to other people rather than to her.
And aside from that, there's unfortunately no laws against being an asshole, no matter how much harm it causes :(.
On second thought, there is another category of laws that might apply depending on where you live and when these actions took place: Anti-bullying laws. Those laws are fairly new though and definitely not standardized across states (never mind other countries) so YMMV but its at least a second possibility for anyone else who might suffer as your friend did.
