And also thank you TH-cam for poopooing my audio. :( Other Noted Mistakes: 32:20 Spells such as spectral blast or chimera scale off of your balance damage. You wouldn't need universal gear. I legit have no idea how I beat this dungeon as a child, lmao. I was dumb as hell as a kid. But I know I did it cause I barely remember it and I have the gear. All I remember from that era is barely Darkmoor and Call of Khrulhu literally taking 50 years to finish its animation.
@@PlayerN101 That may have very well been whom it was back then. The name sounds about right. They didn’t have any video voice, it was just music I think and sped up game play with their typing in game showing. I watched the solo several times, admiring the time it must have taken to organize and accomplish such a task as a low health lvl 90 storm. Others have since done it, but this was done fairly early on when it was much bigger of a deal. Thanx for the info!
32:20 This is not how damage works. The damage of a spell is not scaled by the damage it deals but the school of the card. Balance damage scales up the damage of all balance cards. You do not need Fire, Ice or Storm damage to increase the damage of Hydra - as a matter of tact those damage types have 0 impact.
I love the explanation of cards and combat at the beginning of this video. It's the most complete explanation of how combat works that I've seen. It would make a really great standalone video because that's the hardest part of getting people into this game. I try to teach people the combat but it's hard to explain it as concisely and completely as you have.
I LOVED this game as a kid, but I kinda forgot about it after I reached the end of the Free to Play parts, and all I could really do was farm the Kraken boss. I had NO idea that the game got THIS complicated. It kinda makes me want to go back and play the game again, but I honestly don't think I want to do something like this by myself. Playing through the entire game with a friend sounds like it would be a LOT of fund tbh.
It gets A LOT more complex than this. It's rough in the most recent worlds. The newest dungeon "the nightmare" is by FAR the hardest in the game I think.
I remember years ago grinding Darkmoor (the dungeon in this video) for HOURS each day with friends, good times :-') I loved Wizard101 as a kid but I definitely feel after level 100 the game feels very, VERY repetitive (plus its so insanely expensive to play for a kids MMO game). So trust me, you don't miss too much I promise haha
I keep finding myself playing it again ad again whenever the mood strikes me - it gets complicated and cool, but it can be torture to figure out what cards to use when you have so may options ;-; Maybe that's just me not understanding the mechanics well though
I'm currently doing a run with a friend, he never played but I played it on release and came back from time to time, and it's been a lot of fun. It's also fun seeing him get hyped about a card he got 😂 Although it had been about 4 or so years since I last played so seeing all these new spells was nice for quality of life. Although I don't like the blade nerf since I've also noticed Bosses don't have blade nerfs but I do
Little correction, traps and blades stack multiplicatively, not additive. The 5 feint example you give is 1.7x1.7x1.7x1.8x1.8, or a bit over an 11x multiplier.
I was 14 when darkmoor came out and i remember how incredibly satisfying it was to finish for the first time, especially with the ending to the Malistaire story
I just took my dad through Darkmoor a couple weeks ago. I've been playing since 2011 and this is his first wiz to get out of Wizard city. We (level 100 Death + level 100 ice), with some effort, managed to duo the entire thing. I think the fight that took the longest was Shane II, with Malistare being one of the easiest fights. I knew about the Doom & Gloom cheese. Of course, we used it. But what made it even better for us was that my dad had used Dr. Von's Monster on Malistare as a hit, and the infection from Von *didn't* get removed by his cheat, so by the time his shadow form spawned in, dude was looking mighty anemic with only like 14k health *max.* Don't remember what he actually spawned in with. But man, that was great.
@@theshadowlordsadvisor1233 You can't full set in Celestia and Azteca. Jade gear doesn't give enough resist to achieve 100% universal resist at that point. There's also the problem of bosses dual schooling and using Infallible. If you watch Waynevanilla, you'd see how difficult it actually is.
I remember trying to do Darkmoor with a 3 man team and when we got to the final boss, and we kept dying so at some point we had this cycle where we would just keep dying and coming back while the others were hanging on. It was a WILD ride but we did it in the end. That was probably the most fun I ever had with the game too

Oh yeah darkmoore! First time I did it I was the only one on my team without shadow magic as I was such a high level from doing literally every side quest. I came back after playing when I was way younger, and everyone had these minmax strats while they just handheld me as a tempest spammed
Bright side to all the bosses being mostly astral schools is that you kind of get a grasp at how the Astral schools work. Moon: Ice Death Myth Sun: Life Myth Fire Star: Storm Life Death I’ve seen people and wiki pages recommend resist gear and rings that come with resist for those specific schools.
