    Hi Gail. Well it arrived, I am now the owner of the Oscar II and it is a fantastic machine. It makes a great cup of coffee as you reviewed. And thanks for the first review you did. I have been using Rolling Thunder coffee from Grind House and it make a wicked flat white. The steam arm is incredible! I have adjusted the length of time to produce a good crema using a 20gram double basket. I would recommend this machine especially as I bought from Cafe Italia who ad a bundle offer with the Grinta which I am having fun adjusting. I have limited myself to 3 cups a day as it make quite wonderful brew. Cheers.

    But the rocket looks better and appears more substantially constructed.

    I really appreciate your great efforts in those reviews but actually I feel like it's some sort of just transforming the written comparison to a video format! I am looking for more details, real comparison that should be ended with your recommendation as an expert. Me as an end user and not expert in such machines, still confused and not able to take a decision which one is better to buy! Really need your feedback and recommendations. Thanks

    I currently mix little bit of tap water into RO water that I use for the appartamento for the reason you mentioned in the video. How will that affect the boiler in the long run with scaling? Is there a better way than mixing tap water in there?

    1️⃣What kind of plastic is that water reservoir? Have you noticed that so many are plastic, nuzzled up against a hot boiler? I would love to see companies respect the idea that (especially women!) consumers are aware that *heat-degrading plastics can really have serious health impacts*. Though as heavy as it would be, I can imagine a LOT of people would be happy to upgrade to glass, heavy reservoirs & decant into them. 2️⃣the Rocket looks awesome inside, I imagine one could have it reconfigured for moving between electrical standards? If I'm spending that cash, I would love to take it with me next time...

    I just ordered the Oscar II. I was going to get a Racillio Silva but the single boiler and wait time made it seem like so much more work. Thinking I'll be happier with the Oscar II in the long run but worried it won't be as reliable and tried and true as the Rancilio Silva. Didn't want to spend more money for the rocket when I don't think end product is any better.

    • @lordmmg

      I had Oscar II just for one month and it is not a good machine. In fact you can find several videos with a kind of issue where the machine stops water because there's a "bug" in its design. I have had a Rocket Appartamento for 8 months (until now) and for me it is an excellent machine in terms of design, size, shot quality, even I have been able to "upgrade" parts such as its shower.

  • @snjspring

    Have had the oscar 2 for 2 years. Previously had the rocket r58. If you want to make good drinks - get the nuova, if looks are most important the Rocket is the clear choice. The e61 takes forever to warm up and is had lots of internal parts with increased room for error.

    • @love2fly59
      @love2fly59 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi JS, my R58 takes 8 minutes in single boiler mode, 12 for both boilers. How long did yours take? Are you perhaps on 120 volts?

    • @snjspring
      @snjspring 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@love2fly59 MUCH longer than that. Yes it was household 110V. But even with the boiler getting up to temp - the group head of the e61 takes a lot longer than 10 min to get warm and siphon to a stable temp. The Oscar still wins out there. I miss the rotary pump though!

    • @love2fly59
      @love2fly59 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@snjspring We're almost on the same page now! On 220V the set temperature is reached in under 8 minutes but isn't fully stable. At 8 -10 minutes the temp drop (in the pluggable Rocket display) during extraction is the same - about 2-3° C - as when the R58 has been on for hours. Please do be aware that I only use the espresso boiler, dual boiler is for when family or friends visit.
      Yep, the rotary pump is a killer! I went in looking for an excuse to spring for the on-sale R58 vs Appartameno; the blind taste test between the two sold me. Add in pump longevity, silence, insulated boilers and the price difference is almost easy to justify. Was harder with the Fausto grinder. Still really happy with both after 3 years - highly recommended gear!

      @@love2fly59 you're times actually make sense compared to a 110V when I always ran both boilers. In fact, my wife complained about it all the time because we would wait so long from wanting a coffee to the machine coming to temp.

  • @elephantcup

    The one on the left has a touch panel with buttons to control functions which means that it also has a microprocessor to interpret those button presses and control functions on the machine, connected to electronically actuated switches and valves. Those are inherently flimsy, fragile parts that will not last and when they break, repair and replacement will no doubt be very expensive and required parts will eternally be on back order. The Rocket is all analogue. Knobs, valves and levers. Normal people with basic tools can diagnose, repair and replace them and parts are widely available. Companies replace manual controls with buttons and logic because there is a portion of the population that fetishizes technology and thinks that a high tech version of something is always better than an analogue version. I'll stipulate that a computer is better than an abacus, but with espresso machines and things like them, analog wins. You buy a high end espresso machine to enhance the experience of making coffee. You do not achieve that by lazily pressing a button.

    • @ionuttoma6028
      @ionuttoma6028 ปีที่แล้ว

      except most real professional machines have button, so the best coffee is not made fully analog.

    • @jarynn8156
      @jarynn8156 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As the other reply pointed out, the professionals use buttons. You don't see traditional machines in coffee shops. As for the fetish for technology thing.. It could also be that maybe some consumers want to be able to fine tune their espresso, dial it in, and have a perfect cup every day without any fuss. With an analog machine, you have two choices. You either accept that your espresso will never be consistent and live with it or you break out the gram scale and timer every time.
