Aww, your (grandson?) Theo, is precious in his wellies and turned out to be quite an enthusiastic adventurer and an excellent relic excavator, using patience and methods beyond his years. Being his first mudlark, perhaps a fun memento for him would be a shadowbox or a piece of driftwood with a piece of pipe, fossil and pottery glued to it, with a photo of you and (Theo in his wellies & pack). Nicola The Pipe Queen definitely needs to meet your Manchester, Mini-Mudlarker. Lol Loved his "Woohoo!" after he found that very old pipe bowl. Mick was on his usual roll of outlandish explanations for objects/insects and or the goings-on of the day. He is so .... funny because you never know what he's going to come up with and your responses to Mick, as well as your facial expressions always, always make me giggle, Sarah. Thank you both for sharing your day, the history of Ladybower & the Lost Villages Trail, as well as Theo, the newest member of the mudlarking community.

I had to laugh at myself....He would walk upon some path signs and my Oklahoma ears would hear him say, "no signs here, no signs here." and I thought but there are signs here, I can see them.......Then it hit me that I wasn't hearing him right, he was saying, MORE signs here, more signs here...Good Grief!......I'd love to be able to walk this path, it's beautiful. Delightful perfect song for this video, but someone must be cutting onions during this music! Thinking of my son when he was a little boy and we had such fun, theyre so delighted with the world! Not now..but we used to lark about in the desert and it was precious.
What a dear sweet child Theo is. His joy at finding all those pipe stems and the whole pipe bowl at the end of your lark, was so lovely to watch. Truly hear warming. He looked so cute in his little green wellies. Getting buffed with the wind, which made him unsteady. Awe but when he tripped over, he was cheerful and got up, no tears. Such a lovely little boy. Awe. The lost village was made so real seeing the photos of the place before it got flooded. Bustling with people. What a beautiful place it must have been. So sad to see it destroyed, with broad old tree stumps, which got chopped in their prime the only real evidence that life once thrived there. Gate posts still standing. It must have been heartbreaking to have to move away. Its weird to think soon it will all disappear again. Rains on the way. The village will once again be submerged under tranquil waters. Put to sleep again, until the next heat wave. What a lovely place to have found, for a good days walking. Bet you all slept like logs that night. I wonder what Theo dreamed about. X

That was a lovely tribute to those folk who lived and worked in that village. They had to leave their homes. It touches me in a special way as I lived close to a town where two dams were built and people had to uproot their lives to provide water and power to those living down our valley. WHat an amazing sacrifice. I'm not lying, I had a couple tears. Thanks for sharing this place. I am amazed that you found those pip stems and that pipe bowl.
Stunning scenery and lovely historical walk. Thanks for taking me along! The pile of stone with 1867 was the church tower they blew up during a drought in 1937 . I The church tower was originally left as a monument and was submerged. I looked it up on TH-cam lol. X
