What makes this even more dangerous is when heads of state are involved. That is very scary. Makes us lose all hope in the goodness of humanity.

Tourism is a cover for drug routes. There must be a smuggling route from Canada to US via north border. The handled this with white gloves 👌. Mind you this was 1 charter flight of thousands. The $ being moved in cocaine via the DR has to be at least a 1/3 of GDP.

Heh yeah that's always the way in our countries. Our laws are truly bizarre in so many areas. Take for example self-defence laws and 'reasonable force' in UK, Canada and Australia. Someone breaks into your home to do you harm and/or rob you, and if you hit that person with a baseball bat and accidentally kill them, you're going to prison for 10 years or more for 'manslaughter' and 'unreasonable force' the prosecution argues. Never mind the fact the criminals broke into your home and you're fearing for your life and that of your family and children. That's in stark contrast to the more sensible US approach, where American citizens have guns and can shoot a home intruder dead and that's considered entirely lawful and reasonable self-defence if you give a warning you're armed. Many States go even further with the 'stand your ground' law which says it's entirely legal to have a non-concealed hand-gun or rifle and if someone tries to physically assault you, you're well within your rights to shoot them after a warning to back off.
How a person in UK/CA/AU can end up in PRISON for a decade or so purely for defending their lives against a violent person or home intruder who ends up dead is a really messed up law. There's so many other examples where innocent people end up in prison due to silly laws. Take 'hate speech' laws now...someone in UK/CA/AU can end up in prison just for posting something online which 'upsets' someone else...as though you're responsible for someone else's interpretation of something you said and their feelings! It's absolutely balmy.

What?? WOW You may have cracked the case! You must work for W5, Oh yes, I think I can clearly see your awesome "open/shut case" logic now!!
Was it Professor Plum with the wrench in the library? Or Miss Scarlett with the candlestick in the study? Yes! cause you know,
      * As Canadian Nationals, the passengers would have easy access to an Airport security vehicle they could use anytime they please so;
*So when they liked, they had access to the security camera archives to edit manipulate and erase, (but forgot there was another camera pointed in that direction??
*Anytime they felt like it they could use their obviously all areas access to (international, no less), airport for,
      * staging, taxiways adjacent to the RUNWAYS to,
*LOAD UP the aforementioned airport assigned vehicle (Somewhere on we'd have to assume, Airport Property no less), with eight duffies containing just shy of #463 LBS (which is incidentally, enough weight to seriously affect the takeoff, flight, landing, and general handling/response/characteristics of a small aircraft like that. but hey, minor details to a case cracker like you I suppose.
I don't want to steal your thunder but I'm guessing you know who did it!
Obviously I'd like to interview some of them (Some several times) befiore jumping to conclusions but UNLIKE many people these days, I am not ready to throw out factual concrete evidence just because it causes problems in the dramatic flow if the overall investigation
Investigative journalism is one thing but, there is a border that shouldnt be crossed and that is, when the journalism endangers others.
I"M SHOCKED at the arrogant, callous behavior of the W5 people who not only falsely ASSUME authority to demand andswers both personal and case related (non-public) information or, information that will eventually be made public, from the people involved in the case themselves but to completely callously and blatantly disregard the safety among other aspects of the witnesses/victims/passengers even as one or more may end up being linked to the case BUT, to assume they are, and be willing to endanger any or all of them in their effort to gain information they can exploiut ibnto clicks, with no regard to the utter danger they are obviously in because of the dropping dime on the shipment by the pilot/crew. You would think the W5 people might be more concerned with making sire they (passengers/crew) are safe or, AT LEAST AS concerned as they are with getting clicks and manipulating their story for viewership. "Gee I guess it will be kinda dull unless, some of them are targeted for telling on the smugglers"
Wonder why the media in general are so hated these days?

W5 doesn't seem trustworthy and I just watch it as entertainment and intellectual excercise. I watched the 2 W5 documentaries on the Canadian grandma who was arrested in Hong Kong for smuggling cocaine from Ethiopia (after being scammed out of 205 thousand CAD), and it was hilarious how they all claimed she did absolutely nothing wrong. While I sympathise with people who are very naive, the news reporters were absurdly one-sided: if the grandma took those drugs to Toronto, she would also end up in jail for months if not years.

Two criticisms, if you don’t mind? Sooner would have been better, yes? And… Canada’s government officials and prime Minister? Why not push harder? A deeper investigation into their cowardly inaction is warranted, yes? Their lack of accountability and character bothers me. It’s inexcusable, period.
They need to specifically answer for gross negligence and deliberate disregard for human rights violations.

By the way the passengers looked very guilty and the upfront gosth company Trust capital too, so yeah maybe the crew perhaps were innocent but the passengers uhh very doubtful, the prosecutor there made a big mistake, both the crew of 4 and the group of passengers were supposed to be divided in to two groups with separated cases and then they could have gotten to the bottom of this, the drugs were been requested from Canada and the passengers seems to know everything about it. The whole case was a failure, the American court system would have cracked down the whole thing faster and easily if this took place here in the US, the prosecution did terrible investigation work over there, I'm from DR myself, I was born there, and this much I have to say about this case and court system there.

Yeah me to what happened to them, very guilty looking in my opinion and that stupid gosth company too, Trust capital which the Canadian government desided not to investigate LOL, because after there's no way a Canadian could be and international drug dealer, Americans only.

As for the crew they got wrapped up in some bad business gone wrong by the passengers, the crew reported the drugs after all, could at least one of the 4 be guilty? Maybe but which one? Pilot? Mechanic? Fly attendants? Who knows I don't think the dealers needed them to pull this up.

We went there on a family vacay about ten years ago, but my passport has no record of it. Why? At that time you didn't have to go through customs, and we didn't. Not because we were dishonest but because we got into the fastest moving line. It lead straight to the parking lot. My wife wanted to go back inside, but I'm a smoker and I was having none of that BS. Still can't believe you can land at their busiest airport and just walk past customs. PS. Worst Caribbean country I've ever been to.

This illegal detainment is really quite common in drug cases in the DR it happened to us in the 80’s with the same outcome they dropped all charges and released everyone without explanation. I can’t help but think the DEA was involved at some point . The only difference was we posted a bond that was never returned . But it was worth every penny Jails in the DR are closer to torture chambers than jail’s. At least by American standards , dysentery runs rampant ( runs rampant is an under statement) it’s like projectile vomiting only from the other end . But I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that this was 40 yrs ago when you didn’t need a passport to enter or exit the country . I’ve never been back nor do I have the desire to go back

It would have been dangerous to travel with that cargo. The immediate danger was the safety of the aircraft. If it landed in a "friendly" country everyone would have faced charges of smuggling drugs and considering the amount of drugs, a life sentence for conviction.
