Mercedes v8 have awesome own note versus Scania! Both are awesome but they are different. It's pity that merceders won't have v8 anymore. Especially twin turbo v8 in SK and mark one Actross has their own special note on idle and also in higher rpms! Nothing can beat them!
It's a great recording of the V8 exhaust sound per se, probably the best recording i've heard in quite a long while but unfortunately this itself is unable to capture the overall V8 experience which would have to include the sound from the engine as heard from the driving seat area + the retarder actuation sounds when braking downhill etc. Nice if you can do such a recording from inside the cabin which would also show the instrumentation reading like rpm, gear & road speed ?? Do you have another recording positioned more closely to the engine transmission region (say by placing your recorder inside the cabin overlooking the dashboard instrumentation area), as this present recording is obviously outside of the vehicle at an area when a person would normally not be when riding the vehicle..so it's sort of 'artificial' in that it captures mainly the exhaust note only but misses out on the rest of the overall mechanical sound experience a person would realistically sense on an V8 vehicle. BTW, great if you can also do a recording on the V8 coaches like the O 404 & Travego ? Thank you.
Hopefully i can get one in this week and get it on here. But i think it sounds better in the cab than on the side but i will be doing more of both as it wont be long before this truck is replaced
Look forward to it ! Your truck still looks in great condition..the oldest Actros isn't very old say only 15 years honestly (like the old bonneted LP from the 60's) i expect the an Actros to last some decades ?! As far as i know, there exists V8 to Euro 5 standards & won't be surprised if they come out with Euro 6 V8 soon.
+HseOChin I don't know if you know this already, but Merceders stopped with making V8 engines for trucks because they could't get the V8 to be as environmental as a straigt 6 so they had to stop making them unfortunately
Sad that the V-Motors have gone out of production! At the cost of a weight penalty of 300kg.? But the drivers I talk with are satisfied by the R6-1500. And it fits better in the US market. The weight advantage of V-motors make the Scania V8 Tractor the lightest in its segment. The DAF XF105 the heaviest?
The actros and atego, ia an far different story these days but I remember driving the first 1948 powerliner with the EPS shifter That was an world apart
They always run , and Daf is not the only player in the game , M.A.N , and Volvo are strong competitors, in 1977 that was the year after the Volvo f89 that the first F10 and f12 were released at the Holland RAI exhibition, my uncle brought in the year following upon an Volvo f1220, and he used it to haul loads from Holland to Tehran, and Oman, and back, in total he he achieved to write 1,5 million. Kms on it , the good old TD 122 engine gave up one day but it was not to blame to it
After 1.5 million kilometres that engine in the Volvo f12 of my uncle was literally drinking 15 liters of oil on 500 kilometers, but it was not smoking as bad as many vehicles I have seen in Manila
It's an pity that Daf actually got and stayed stuck, as an matter of fact they don't produce their own engins anymore they rather went for using paccar diesels, which us an shame for Daf in an sustain way because in the 80 s they were very successful with introducing the N 2800, especially fitted for in the first place the African market
These days in Europe you dont see any truck that doesn't have an euro emissions mark on it , and it's truly the most redigulous thing that God damn Brussels has ever invented , they squeeze emissions on diesel engines , were the consumers want more power to fuel economy out of it , but for fuck sake , we as Holland are not big ,,, I went to the Philippines twice , and I remember damn well the level of pollution,,, as I came out if the airport terminal in Manila , i got an slap in my face from an far different dimension,,,, I have truly never seen so much smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes of many trucks and whatever vehicle I have seen driving there,
Average container ship or ucccl oil ship has an 9 cylinder 2 stroke diesel engine , but it wants no diesel, 🤢🤢🤢 it wants raw oil that is heated up to 70 degrees Celsius to make it combustible,
The nicest truck engine sound ever . Thank you bro !
Best sound ever than the Scania..
Best v8 actors video on youtube
This is what unfiltered beer should sound like if it had a sound.

Special the last ACTROS 1853 with a V8 (and changed firing order as Scania did) was pure music. Not with the typical V8 beat but a nice rolling sound.
That startup 😍😁
absolutely AWESOME ...... yeeeeeahhhhhhhh......... I LOVE IT!!!!! :))))))) best regards from "good old germany".....
Awesome! could download it as an mp3 an put it on my player. better than music!

HseOChin This one is a 2005 with 1.1m kms on the clock or around 1.1m

Cool .
Von wo is der LKW ?
Australien
It was the 11,6 litre engine that made an Daf truck so beloved worldwide,
That started way back in the 70s with the first 1632
I have an exact copy scale 1:24 self constructed of that truck in my collection ,
After 1.5 million kilometres that engine in the Volvo f12 of my uncle was literally drinking 15 liters of oil on 500 kilometers, but it was not smoking as bad as many vehicles I have seen in Manila
That’s just the shit diesel they have in the Phillipines
And Brussels sleeps like an angel
I can hear your engine brake ,
If the latest Volvo FH 750 was not that squeezed down to emissions it could easily put 1000 horsepower on the tarmac
And doing it on a 6 cyl d9b engine easily
It's an pity that Daf actually got and stayed stuck, as an matter of fact they don't produce their own engins anymore they rather went for using paccar diesels, which us an shame for Daf in an sustain way because in the 80 s they were very successful with introducing the N 2800, especially fitted for in the first place the African market
Yup , that is an mercedes OM v8

No chance in shifting the wrong gear upon the revolution count , it gives you an beep,,,
Zf 16 ecosplitt transmission
wwwoooooowwwwwwwww
Now start talking about emissions,,, were do we start then,,,,,, to me it doesn't make a fucking sense
Hhmmmz they dont sound like the 1944 powerliner from the early days
But you hardly ever use it
m
It's an discussion that goes to nowhere

it can burn diesel, in fact it has to in emission control area, its just expensive
