An interesting chat. One reason to work with Generatepress and GenerateBlocks is the multitude of screen sizes. Once upon a time I was hand coding websites but that was before the mobile phone and tablet through the challenge of multiple screen sizes in to the mix. The ability to adjust a design to fit different devices is massive.
I have been looking for a resource and when I was looking at Oxygen, but did purchase his course on Oxygen. I just found myself drawn to Gutenburg. I keep coming back to Generate Press and Generate Blocks. Finding s a good quality course Mike Oliver is good, but having a couple resources is always good. Also looking to learn CSS as well. You have been a great resource. Thanks again.
Many established WordPress devs prefer Generatepress & Blocks. I have worked with Elementor, Divi (I was not fond of it) WP Bakery (as we all know absolute crap) and Oxygen. We recently switched to Generatepress & Blocks for the simpler builds and anything more eccentric we use Cwicly. I do prefer Cwicly’s well thought out UI & capabilities and GB/GB simplicity. It really depends on the project.
Great conversation. I've been in the years a GP user, still am, i've used Oxygen, which is an all in one tool/theme/plugin (call it whatever) it is just great. My need are to build, sometimes, websites based on wpml. Oxygen is not compatible with it, i mean you can make it work but it's not out of the box. GenerateBlocks come handy because it will let you the freedom to build very complex pages, and 100% compatibility with wpml. This said i will still use oxygen on sites that don't require more than one language and will stick to blocks when it requires it.
Kyle, our agency is switching from divi to either kadence or generatepress. I feel like generate will serve us better but boss wants kadence! How can I compare and convince him
For those who need an easier transition from commercial page builders and dynamic content builders, the Kadence suite of tools makes a great Gutenberg centric choice. It's a more feature rich alternative to the simplicity and elegance of Generate.
Really good conversation, we need more. I tried blocks thru my LTD with Kadence .. I didn’t enjoy it and found permaslug and oxygen. I’m moving to Breakdance and building a few sites with it
To be fair Jonathan (I don't mean this in a negative way), you've been somewhat of a blind Oxygen defender, brushing all the lingering issues to the side in denial. It makes me wonder how objectively you are able to look at your current workflows and tools. I like your content though, so don't take this as a dig or a slap.
I totally understand why this would be frustrating... and not to try and swoop in to defend Jonathan, but seeing this from both sides (as a content consumer and content creator) it's not always so easy. Like everyone else, we're human. We "fall in love" with tools, and when you're in love it's hard to see the negatives. There are, of course, people who take advantage of this - constantly promoting affilaite links from one product to the next, which we can all agree is gross. But I know Jonathan quite well - and he has very high integrity. I don't think he's done anything to purposefully mislead people, but simply changed his mind. I hope you'll cut him some slack :) ❤
I will be the first to admit that I should've used my position as one of the leading Oxygen creators to push them harder. I should've said - this sucks and could be better instead of just nearly constant praise. But I didn't. Hindsight is very much 20/20 in this case. I'm not sure it would've changed anything since they were so staunchly defendant of their privacy and "upvote-this-on-github" but it is something I've thought a lot about. So to your point, I have thought very long and very hard about this. You'll notice I went silent for over a month after the BD disaster launch this summer. I was completely absent of work and content creation while I reconsidered my tool stack and my business as whole. So, yes I am looking objectively. My goals and desires for my work changed and what made the most sense for me was Generate. I appreciate your comment, Joe.
Nice to see more GP Pros getting together on a stream!
100%. Jonathan is good people!
@@TheAdminBar My little heart 💗
Thank you guys so much! This talk was sooo valueable! 👏👏👏
Glad it was helpful!
Jonathan and Kyle is the reason why I jumped the ship to join the GBGP ship!
I hope you've been enjoying it!
@@Permaslug For sure! So much that I'm in your Generate Make Easy course!
This message about tooltips is awesome! 12:09
Yes!!! 🙌 I LOVE this! Good reminder, I wanna go find that and screenshot it!
Interesting conversation, which sorts out the thoughts around working with blocks. Appreciate your work on this!
Glad you enjoyed it, Cay!

The look of a proud father on Kyles face 😊 Anyway, it’s worked - I’m switching.
😂 GP/GB feels like my baby 😂 Welcome to the "light" side!
@@TheAdminBar You may wish I hadn't when the onslaught begins of questions fired at you and Jonathan 😂
Don’t leave the dark side of divi 😂
I like your perspective on having a tool you do not need to look at other tools.
It's a good feeling!

Kadence is great - it comes down to personal preference.

Most Generate websites, that I see at least, look the same? Can anyone convince me otherwise?
Not here to convince anyone of anything! Use what's best for you!
Isn't that a failure of design, not of development?
