@@RidingintheOzarks personally I see the benefits to both, one reason why I like the stereo vs in helmet is that I feel like you “disconnect” from your environment when you are full faced. However for those longer rides and potential unknown weather conditions I see the benefits of having a full face along with the added safety. Also it’s probably better for my ears as the volume at which I listen to my music on my stereo is much louder than what any Bluetooth headset can produce, but that old adage of loud pipes save lives…well if you can hear my music well than you know I’m there!
I installed the stage 2 amp and speakers myself on my 24 SG. First ride out, sounded good, ok at highway speed. First stop for gas, no speaker output. After some arguing with the dealership .. I got the amp sw flashed to the most current which is 1380 as of this posting then the OS reupdated to the current. So far .. just 2 stops / power off of the bike up to this point,. the speakers are working. Of course I will be convinced the problem is fixed with longevity.
Volunteer Audio has the best out there right now. Bought the 2024 CVO roadglide and couldn’t wait to replace the sound system-windshield and seat. Night and day difference on all three.
I have the Rockford stage 2 fairing in my 24 road glide as well and still working on the settings for sure. May end up selling and going volunteer audio budget setup as they have said there system setup is a lot louder
I just bought the volunteer audio hertz system for my 24 St. glide can’t wait to install it. They also have the cutting kits for the 6x9’s in the saddle bags.
Hey Man Mountain Mike, I’m sure those running this system appreciate this informative video. My thoughts about the subject are…you are paying around $30K for the bike. So why in the hell are you fixing HD’s issues with the system? We are not talking about you installed an aftermarket system and are now having issues you or the aftermarket installer created. This came from HD with issues and for the bank you gave HD, they need to fix the bugs on their time and on their dollar NOT YOUR’S! That’s my thoughts. Y’all peace out for now.
The motor company has these recommendations published on the phone and equalizer but I don’t think dealers and sales staff know to tell customers. The amp software issue a motor company bug but probably a Rockford software issue in truth. This is the pain with a new generation of bike….
My 2024 Street Glide came with the stock amp and speakers which are very, very poor. Instead of going with the stage 2 kit from Harley, I went with a much better system from Volunteer Audio. All plug and play and no voiding any warranty. I could not see spending that kind of money for the stage 2 upgrade. Much better system out there instead of what you can get from Harley. @RidingintheOzarks, since you got the handlebar upgrade and was already into the bike, I understand your reason for going with the stage 2 upgrade.
@@RidingintheOzarks I went with the Kenwood XM160-2 amp and the Hertz Neo speakers. You keep the factory 200W amp with this amp combo. Great reviews and videos showing the installation. This kit was also under a grand.
@ I guess I would have to hear them, I’m under a grand and appears to me the RF amp is 4 channel with more RMS. I have seen people say the hertz are good but haven’t listened to them in person yet.
This is kinda right and wrong at the same time. When installing the RF system, you MUST install or reinstall the newest software update. Even if you currently have the latest update, you must reinstall it after installing the RF amp. This completely takes away the problem of losing sound and having to pull the fuse. So many people, including the dealerships are missing this step. Just install or reinstall the latest update and you are fine.
Problem is today is not just 25-30k Harley-Davidson. It’s today times. Look into the cars and trucks. Honda major Engine Troubles, Toyota having major problems, Ram Trucks, Ford, GM Your looking at 40-70k vehicles.
Well I can’t blame HD for the phone settings but the amp version is problem but they have had a fix since July. I think there is some growing pains with these new systems.
@ I just stopped using it, still have it downloaded. Last couple weeks I’ve been using apple maps or the skyOS map with no issues. I hope it continues.

This SkylineOS and everything Digital has me nervous. I think the OS is too half baked for my taste. That being said I like the Rockford system but as someone with an older bike, it’s way over priced as an optional upgrade compared to other options if not already on the bike at time of purchase. I went to a local custom shop @309 Customs and got some great work done on my 2011. Along with further motor work and other cosmetic enhancements I have been able to continue my delay on purchasing a new generation StreetGlide or RoadGlide. Though I know it is inevitable, as I pass that Harley dealership everyday and see those bikes!

It would be better all around If y’all didn’t give money to these dealers for bike audio I know what yall spend on them mediocre stage 2 3 and 4 systems I’ve got 40amp hr of lithium battery bank 2 taramps md800.1s 12 sundown audio Sa series speakers I can demo with the bike OFF for 4 hours and still start my bike And I spent less than 2500$ for everything including speaker pods and everything And I’ll absolutely decimate 95% of bikes on the road. While having spent less than everyone else

Check these phone and EQ settings and see if they help, I can hear mine a lot better at 90 mph…I mean at 70 on the highway

I just did my thousand mile service and after the OS update everything‘s been working fine even with Waze

Since I stopped using Waze on apple car play I’ve had no audio output issues. I’m running the latest version on the 2023.5 CVO

dont wast your money....get cicada, amp, and 6.5 thats all your need. unless your going to sit in a parking lot.
My buddy got cicada, I’ll pass and do Sinister Sound, his system didn’t impress me.
