If we don't get jebaited into an Ebonhorn leadership, I foresee Sabellian dying either due to some corruption and him turning evil or a self-sacrifice to protect Wrathion from something, who takes that experience as a "grow up kid" moment and becomes the Aspect proper.

    • @sonniepronounceds-au-ni9287

I'm okay with Ebornhorn taking over because he would most likely hand over leadership to Wrathion when he grew up enough for it. I don't think Ebornhorn would trust Sabellian either given his past with Deathwing, and Ebornhorn doesn't have that sort of ambition to challenge Wrathion if Wrathion proves himself worthy of leadership.

    • @sonniepronounceds-au-ni9287
      @sonniepronounceds-au-ni9287 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I feel like Wrathion is too immature and could benefit from having someone over him for a bit to humble him as well as help guide him. He never really had anyone like that since he hatched. People have helped save him and accomplish his goals, but no one raised him. He took over Ravenholdt after he hatched and was already scheming to help take down Deathwing in Cata. I know Dragon whelps can be pretty smart right out of the egg and help themselves, but they still need guidance. Wrathion did his research and worked things out for his benefit, and he has the right end goal of helping Azeroth. However, he still has a lot of blind spots when it comes to leadership and morals that Ebonhorn could greatly help with. Ebonhorn wasn't raised by the black dragonflight, but he learned much about proper leadership from Huln Highmountain himself and was there to help guide the tribe for thousands of years. Ebonhorn is perfect to help guide Wrathion.

THer's several thing that has to be taken in when making this call, namely: Bonds, actions and their consequences for others.
Wrathion: Young, dynamic and charismatic, the fanbase knows him well and would likely want him in charge simply for that reason. But Wrathion is also rash and extremely dangerous having literally sparked a war to raise an army against the legion (Warlords of Draenor) which sparked an actual invasion of the LEGION, (Legion surprise) and having manipulated the factions on multiple occasions (Pandaria). Then there's the fact that he's had several Black Dragons assassinated which isn't a good selling point.
Players may focus on his friendship with Anduin (and thus bonds with the Alliance) and overall good intentions to prove he's not that bad, but Wrathions' actions speaks otherwise. He's too rash to lead. Not to mention, to lead, he needs the respect of the remaining Black Dragons, who he hasn't associated with much aside from Ebonhorn, who hasn't familiarized himself with the brood either.
This isn't the case with the rival.
Sabellian: Mature, well established in the lore, has seniority and is a proven a grinder by taking care of the dragons in Outland on Deathwings' orders (and being his actual son), he is likely to be viewed as having done more for the Black Dragons than Wrathion. Sabellian sadly was also loyal to Deathwing and was corrupted (but has seemingly gotten over it) by the old gods' influence. A dangerous choice, but an understandable one for the lore savvy players to make.
Unlike Wrathion, he hasn't caused wars left and right and his manipulation/profiting of the factions is far smaller by comparison, but his intentions are focused on the BDF rather than the good of Azeroth.
Both have supporters and some claim to the position, while Sab has seniority and the support of other Black dragons, he is also not notorious for the fanbase nor does he have a good report with the other flights, Wrathion has none of the support from the BDs but is known to the fanbase and has some bonds with the other flights and with the alliance.
While one has to be the aspect, I think it's of the utmost necessity that that character takes the other as an advisor.
I'm honestly for Sabellian on this one, but I think most will choose Wrathion. They simply know him better and many are likely to view Sabellian as an evil uncle character, and that's too good for many to pass up as a future foe.

For all his Immaturity Wrathion has been 100% clear he considers that era of the Black dragonflight to be shameful and something he doesn't want to repeat.
Even Alexstraza who isn't really known for being unforgiving was vary of Sabellian or as she puts it "your part in your father's twisted legacy grants you no such privilege" when effectively banning Sabellian from entering the Ruby Lifepools.

Is an actual uncorrupt black dragon with red glowing eyes.
Sabellian is literally a death wing worshipper that still worked with his father back in tbc, Sinestra was also about there.
and as he said himself: Deathwing chose him as the Caretaker of the Flight, not it's leader.
He also didn't help rebuild or reignite the Oath Stone, he left that to Wrathion and then went for the Throne as soon as all the work was done.
Sabellian is a good caretaker that helped keeping the flight alive, hiding away in Outland.
But he is no true leader.
    He is manipulative and scheming.
the escort with the fake eggs was for more than just keeping his clutch safe to move, it was to discredit Wrathion.
and gain the Favor of the Dragon Queen.
Also it is very clear that Blizzard intent to insert younger dragons as the new Aspects.
Kalecgos replaced Malygos, Chromnormu will take Nozdormu's place, Mithra takes Ysera's.

I'm team Wrathion in the long run.
Wrathion needs time to grow but he also shows a direct interest in filling the role of an Aspect. He's similar to Kalec in that way -- his main support group are humans and he's not the ideal leader for a group of dragons but he had the right mindset to be an Aspect. Kalec had time to grow and now he's finally starting to fill in those shoes. Wrathion needs to do the same.
Sabellian is a reliable leader, but there is nothing there to indicate he'll care for anything beyond his own self interests/flight. I wouldn't be surprised if the other Aspects could only begrudgling accept him, since he's an old enemy that never proved himself and just returned for power. I can't trust him to be an Aspect, but he would be crucial to helping Wrathion develop. I would much prefer Sabellian act as a much needed guide and parental figure, since I can't see him committing to Azeroth or the mortal races the same way the other Aspects do. He seems like the type that'd be happier running his own group like Senegos.

i agree to most of it but wanting to be a ''king'' or well in this case an aspect (a super powerfull being with massive amounts of power bestowed upon them, enough to cripple whole nations) doesn't make you fit for it. and truth is Wrathion is so arrogant and self centered that he believes that he is the smartest person to have ever lived even when he keeps failing and taking the hardest and most nonsensical road to achieve his goal which often comes with massive cost's especially in lives. truth is Azeroth could have been united peacefully with warnings of a legion invasion in the same way they mostly did in Warcraft 3 (Jaina's human/Kirin Tor expedition, Thralls orcs and the night elves by Medivhs warnings which saved the world) and now they knew more about the threat and all knew it was real so such a warning would without a doubt be taken serious and make peace and cooporation possible without all the death. and yet even after his vision of the plan failed, there were a real olive branch made to make the world united due to Varian, Anduin, Vol'Jin and Thrall so a warning at that point would make it so they wouldn't just aim for a peacefull coexistence but prob would rely on eachothers and create an alliance so he kinda detroyed that a bit by not warning them and especially by intervening and trying to make the iron horde when there was no reason to because he had essentially achieved his goal, just not in the way he wanted or thought he would do. his story is filled with such things of him ultimately achieving what he wants or thinks necesary but not realising it and thus squadaring it.
IMO he is not a great leader, nor strategist, nor protector (he keeps starting wars in which the strongest most notable and possible war winning champions perish/becomes corrupted and evil such as garrosh or simply loose their mind such as Jaina (for a brief time), and he would have subjected Azeroth to a bunch of vile savages he had no control over simply because he thought everything on Azeroth should be uniform and ruled by one faction even if it mean basically the enslavement or eradication of all other mortal races when that is far from the case because time and time again Azeroth had been saved due to the races/nations/factions diffences and strengths all complimenting eachothers and making up for eachothers weaknesses when they all unite)
and well sibilian is just too much deathwing like atm and equally as self centered and arrogant
so yeah really sad Ebonhorn isn't an option (yet) hope they go that route though. with Wrathion and Sebilian almost starting a civil war so in order to save their kind they eventually both agree to stop seeking the power and give it to someone more worthy and less power hungry. which would open it up for Ebonhorn whom is by far the wisest and best leader the Black Dragonflight can offer.

"Sabellian is a reliable leader, but there is nothing there to indicate he'll care for anything beyond his own self interests/flight".
There's nothing to indicate that he won't, either. That's a bit of a baseless accusation.
I do like Wrathion, and I think that once he has matured and gained some experience with the Black Dragonflight, he could be a great Aspect. But for now, I think that Sabellian is the appropriate leader. (Ebyssian is not in the running, and I do wish that people would stop suggesting him. His role has always been that of an advisor, and he would gladly serve the Aspect in that role, I'm sure. Unless he heads back home to Highmountain, of course. But not Aspect.)
Wrathion has a good deal of experience fulfilling the duties of the Black Dragonflight, and with his small army of Black Talons, could serve the Flight very well. The Flight has eyes and ears everywhere, thanks to him. He could become a Commander of the Flight for a while, as Sabellian's heir, and learn to lead the Flight one day.
Sabellian has experience of leading the Flight itself, and has more maturity in general of course, being thousands of years older. I do think that he's the best option for for Obsidian Throne.
Have a look at the cinematic where they meet. After they introduce themselves to each other, the battle flares up and they turn towards it. Watch their faces carefully, particularly their eyes. Wrathion glances in surprise at the battle in general, whereas Sabellian immediately looks around, gauging the fight itself, and assessing the situation. He is the true General and leader of the Flight.

And, we also agreed that it should be Ebyssian since, of the three, he is the one who has never been corrupted and never acted out of malice or driven people to war in order to make them work together. It is a really difficult choice to make. Wrathion fights for Azeroth and wants all the mortal races to be at peace with dragons and mostly his flight. He may have started an horrible war, but before that he saved Pandaria and he fought for what he thought was good until today. He doesn't care if he's weaker than any other Aspect. He's young and he fight and grow with all his strengh. He made mortals his family, which is good and bad at the same time, because he lived with mortals his whole life, he is not the most suited to be the Aspect of the Blacks because he doesn't know how to handle the charge. Meanwhile Sabellian is the savior of every non-corrupted Black dragon who followed him in Outland, he saved a big part of Outlanders in the story and did everything he could to save his flight despite everybody telling him it was useless cause too late. He finally saved them but at a price. He now distrusts mortals ! Unlike Wrathion, he would be a great Aspect but would lack the human love, he doesn't understand our needs, our fights etc. He's selfish in this way and would only be there if his flight is involved which would be bad for a good and balanced peace. Dragonflights must protect each others and he would be the first one to say "No" if his flight is at risk.
So : Wrathion has the knowledge but lack the power / capacity / maturity. Sabellian has the capacity / maturity / power, but lacks the knowledge and the comprehension. I think it would be best to have them both on the obsidian throne, or... Crown Sabellian and make Wrathion his councelor and adviser, cause he knows more about Azeroth and its people, he'll grow to be a good successor.
Edit : Wrathion is NOT Deathwing's direct sucessor btw. He's the son of Deathwing's daughter, Nyxondra, which is Onyxia's clutch sister. So Deathwing is his grandfather, which means that he's not the first in line. Sabellion is Deathwing's son, so he's the true heir !

Then again, Wrathion caused A LOT of colateral damage with his scheming, while Sabellian was a part of Deathwing's original corrupted flight.

One thing to consider is that Seballion was possibly able to break free of his possible corruption in his time in Outland, as the Old Gods had no presence on the planet. And perhaps it was our defeating N'Zoth that made it safe for him and his flight to return, leaving him free to return without the possibility of corruption. I wouldn't say he was doing nothing, as he was rebuilding the flight, but rather being cautious and protecting his people.

Ebyssian as aspect of the flight, but give the other two the option to stay as advisors/majordomo/heir. I think the experience Sebelian especially on how to survive is a strong trait, but Wrathion has more of a current network of connections and informants on Azeroth which is also useful. • @KiropLokiIncarnate

The deciding factor for this choice is information that Blizzard haven't laid out cleanly for us: the exact nature of the Black Dragonflight's insanity, their points of weakness and how vulnerable they still might be.
Sabellian and the rest of the Outland crew have not been tested against the influence of the Old Gods in several decades- they only returned when the main perpetrator of Deathwing's madness (N'Zoth) was not only dead but had his physical body eradicated from Azeroth. While we know that the Old Gods can share projects (Emerald Nightmare started with Yogg-Saron through Andrassil but was handed over to N'Zoth) we don't know the specifics involved when both the contractor (N'Zoth) and the client (Deathwing) are dead. Would an Old God have to start over from scratch at corrupting the new Earth Aspect? Depending on the exact nature, appointing Sabellian as the new Aspect might as well be signing his death warrant.
Wrathion, however, we know is safe. He plunged deep into Ny'alotha and fared far better against the corruption and madness than even us, the players. Ebyssian is safe as well, but it's pretty clear he doesn't want the role, and is willing to follow his little brother.

I think Sabellian did more for the black dragon flight itself even if he has less screen time (he gathered all surviving ones and helped them live with their corruption instead of just killing them and gave them a future and second chance even when Alextraza didnt - because she fears she was to soft in the past). Warathion instead focust on saving azeroth at all cost and the victims didnt matter to him (the current black dragon flight itself didnt matter to him - because he thinks killing is the only choice - and to be honest Alexstraza wont be able to decide who the next aspect will be). Maybe because I am a hord player I dont see him as an proper aspect (at least Sabellian can blame the old gods for the shit he did, but Warathion did very shady things by his own choice and will in future). Currently we dont know if Sabellian is actually cured or just learned how to supress the corruption - at know we can only suspect... . Yes both are not optimal candidates but maybe they can rule together to balance out things the other dont have/consider. I think we wont really decide whos gonna be next, Blizz will probably decide during story arc by themself (and honestly Warathion got the better model from Blizz and I think they will make him the next). For the newborn Wrathion it was a kill-or-be-killed situation. And even realizing this, he regrets it. But you still put a newborn whelp in reproach.

And of course, the mortal races are also the reason why the black dragons are so few in number. Heck, in the Second War, the ALLIANCE actively destroyed black dragon eggs, mainly for the reason you mentioned.

Meanwhile Sabellian didn't activate the Black's Oath Stone, he didn't make a oath he was too focused on the symbol of power (the throne at the top of the Obsidian Sanctum) letting Wrathion and the Champions rebuild the Oath Stone and for some reason letting Wrathion take the Oath that reactivates it uncontested.

It makes quite a bit of narrative sense, as lets be honest, Blizzard love leaning into tropes and Ebonhorn fits into two quite well established "hero" tropes. The first expressed in the saying "Where two are fighting, a third one wins" (in regards to Sabellian and Wrathion bickering over "their" throne) and the second being "The best leaders are those who don't want to lead" (be that true or false is irrelevant, it is a well-known trope, the unwilling heir to the crown, someone who steps up by necessity, think Simba from "The Lion King" or Aragorn in "The Lord of the Rings"). Basically a worthy/good/noble character that is shying away from their true purpose until the situation/time calls for them (which could be the case with Sabel vs Wrathion reaching a tipping point and Ebonhorn being the solution to said conflict).
P.S. That, and bonus points for some tauren lore pay off as their culture worships the Earthmother and with Ebonhorn being crowned Aspect they will basically have the custodian of the Earth be "one of them" (seeing as Ebonhorn spent thousands of years living among tauren, upholding their traditions and respecting their culture).

Sabellion no contest man actually SAVED his flight while wrathion killed all those he came in contact with except ebysian
Wrathion caused us so much annoyance and dipped out for 2 xpacs knowing there w would be a target on his back, the worst part about why you shouldn’t choose wrathion
He calls you champion instead of using your name, after all the bs he’s made us endure it’s clear you’re just a champion a person who can be sent to do stuff for him instead of a person, your pc

it seems like scenarists have chosen Wrathion so i choose Sabwayllian. Even their first meeting has special structure of dialoge so a player did not realize that Subsribellian is DW's son. Wrath of the Ion is just a whelp, purifiyed by a titan's toy

While Sabelian might have done more for his flight, Wrathion always did everything for Azeroth (even if it didn't turn out the way he envisioned) which is what a real earthwarden's task is. Sabelian ran to Outland instead.

Wrathion had the luxury of a red dragon Rhea curing his Egg Sabellion HAD to go to Outland to avoid the corruption.

@@JswahSwitch He didn't go to Outland to avoid the corruption, he found himself there by following the corruption itself in the form of Deathwing, he was his leutenant and went there to support him and got abandoned when Deathwing escaped back to Azeroth.

I think Wrathion should go lone wolf like Batman. There's even a good Batman quote, when the Justice League asked Batman to join he said: "Sorry, I'm more of a part-timer"

Stupid, sexy Wrathion gets my vote. Wrathion's previous blunders were well intentioned but fell apart due to lack of experience. He was, and still is, young and at the time didn't seem to be very good at reasoning about what people will do, but would still build reckless plans that relied on those assumptions of behavior. Of course, Varian wouldn't wipe out the horde, and of course, Garrosh wouldn't rise to protect Azeroth. But Wrathion didn't see those things. However, I think a little bit of time has worked out some of those problems for him. As Nobbel pointed out, he did figure out how to defeat N'Zoth (so far as we can tell at least) and that's commendable. He built a plan that relied on people doing what they were likely to do and in the end, it worked out. Maybe it's a fluke, but to me it looks like growth.
Sabellian...idk, he's got boomer vibes to me. Probably complains about the good ol' days.

Sabellian. Wrathion is a war criminal. But my heart wants Ebonhorn. Though one should remember the pressure that Neltharion went though being the Earth Warden, he eventually went mad (With the help of the old gods) but still, it seems like a huge burden.

Honestly wrathion is an entitled brat. He thinks he knows best, but so far just failed and Made things worse and it doesnt seem like he learned from his mistakes. Sabellion sure could be corrupted like deathwing. But i dont Think the Argument can be Made he did nothing this whole time. Like what should he have done, come to save the Horde and alliance? One of which he was at war just before? He had smth more important to do. Preserving his kind. He wasnt the Warden he hadnt any obligation nor any reason to help. If u Think about it wrathion only wants to preserve his Kind for himself or atleast it feels like it. Hes more interested on being the earth warden. If u want a good earth warden wrathion, but if u want a leader for the Black dragons sabellion. And ebonhorn is both lol.

Of the two I have to say Sebellian. The reasons being he protected his flight in a harsh world, claimed to have cleansed the Old God corruption, and answered the call of the isle. Some may say that he hid in Outland all this time but I look at it as keeping his flight away from the Old Gods, they can't get their tentacles on them all the way over there. So he waited for that threat to be "delt with" before feeling it safe to bring his people home.

I seriously want it to be sabellian to become the next aspect for 2 reasons 1. I love sabellian 2. I like watching sabellian and wraithian argue and unforseen 3. I'm worried sabellian will go evil crazy if he isn't made aspect

but do we have a confirmation about Sabellian being free from corruption? I mean I didn't even hear Sebalian saying that he freed himself, and even less about how he freed himself. Or he's playing nice (like Deathwing and Onyxia were playing nice with the human, waiting for their moment to exécute their plan)?
I mean Deathwing even after his fall, was able to present himself as sane, he was able to convince the aspect to power up the dragon's soul. He was able to infiltrate Lordearon as Daval Prestor.
Even Onyxia was able to use the SAME name to infiltrate Lordearon once again...
So do we have any proof that Sabellian is free of corruption? can we bring him to MOTHER or something to test him? make sure he's not "playing nice" as Deathwing and Onyxia did so masterfully? We were able to check Wrathion to make sure he was free, and we go so much more titan knowledge now, we can probably check Sabellian out. let's remembered, Black Dragons are master manipulators

Sabellian's followers state he has healed them of corruption and Wrathion could probably detect if he was corrupt. The fact that he doesn't mention it as a possibility might indicate that Sabellian indeed succeded.
