  • Beautiful Kawasaki ZRX1200R retro muscle bike I found at the end of Summer 2018, stunning Eddie Lawson Colours, and a real trip back down memory lane, but do these kind of bikes feel as good as I remember 20 Years ago?

    I've had my ZRX1200R since purchased new in 2002. I have 46,000 miles on the clock. Mine is bone stock with the exception of
    tank, saddle and trunk bags. Most dependable bike an fun bike I have ever owned. I've been riding motorcycle for 56 years. I have no plans on selling my REX, it's just too good of a bike get rid of.

      I've had a 99 ZRX 1100 and a beautiful 2003 ZRX1200R...next week I'm picking up a real nice 2001 REX(green) next week ... great bikes!

    I've had my 05 since new. Still consider the engine the best of any bike I've ridden or owned. My zrx is out of the crate stock with just over 23,000 miles on the odo. Other than new tires and a valve adj at 7,500 miles it runs like new. I'll probably never part with it despite my advanced age (65). It was a father's day gift from the wife. Nuff said.

    I like my Kawasakis painted red. Owned 3 z750 turbos and a red ZRX 1100. My BMW car is red also!!

    I bought mine new in 2003 and it's still the coolest bike I've ever ridden. I don't know why they made them in different colors, everyone knows the green ones are faster :)

    My dad used to have one of these. I remember going on rides on the back of it with him as a kid all the time. Always loved this bike, up till the day he traded my uncle it for a Versys. One day I’ll buy one of these again.

    Love both the Zrx and the XJR. I live in the US (I am from the UK) and unfortunately they didn't import the XJR or the Gsx1400 here so you can't get them. There are quite a few very good ZRXs around though. .Really enjoying the series,, cheers buddy!

    13 Jan 2019? Most ZRX videos I watched are as retro as the bike. I used to have the muscular Suzuki GSX1100G. Had to let that one go years ago. Now looking back to the saddle. Out of all the available superbike, this one is a serious contender. Guess I haven't grown out of muscle bikes yet.. :)

    I've got a 2001 also and I use it for touring. I've had it for 12 years now and still love it. I hate the look of modern bikes. They all look like something out of a transformer movie with no usable back seat.

    rear foot peg hangars were polished alloy ,the 1200 came with a stainless exhaust, easy to get the radiator off, just time consuming ,worst & hardest job is carbs removal,i rebuilt one from the ground up,

    Was Trying desperately to find a decent ZRX 1200 in my price range in my area last fall and winter before I settle on a slightly rough Yamaha FZ 1 made into a N that was right at my price limit($5k) i’ve yet to even ride my FZ1 but will always sort of regret not holding out till I found ZRX( in the green obviously).Maybe it’s just my age (in my mid 50s )and been riding since the mid-1980s and my first bike being a 1981 Kawasaki 650 CSR but the ZRX’s are just the shit imo.

      Prices here in the UK for these older "Muscle Bikes" has gone pretty crazy the last few Years, especially the ZRX1200 and The GSX1400! But you can still get great deals on the XJR1300 and The CB1300. All of which have now been reviewed here on my channel (including the FZ1) 😁

    What is the polish you used on the exhaust. I’m in the same situation with my bike and that would be a perfect solution

    Debating between this bike or Suzuki GSX 1400. Like them both and like the fact the Kawi has carbs but am a bit worried that its a 5 speed. Is that an issue on the motorway doing 60-75mph?

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me it has to be the GSX1400 if I had the choice of these 2 bikes 😉

  • @0trov_
    @0trov_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was wondering how is this bike suited as first motorcycle taking in consideration it's 1100ccm after all ?
    I passed my exams on hornet 599 here in Europe we call it Hornet 600 and I saw they are approximately same kw and hp.. 95-98 hp.
    I am 32 years old and have no desire whatsoever to twist that throttle or break any speed records, would mainly use it as a city commuter.
    That said I am 6.2 feet tall and I really REALLY like the looks of this motorcycle.
    Would this be suicide choice for a first motorcycle?
    I was talking about zrx 1100 with 95HP all the time and now I see this is zrx 1200 :)

    • @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes
      @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To be honest, this is not the type of bike that is going to rip your arms off with acceleration, it's a big bike though, and you need to be strong enough to move it around, the Hornet is very light in comparison, but the ZRX1200 might not feel that much quicker in the real world, just a lot more grown up :)

      Hi Nemanja I bought a ZRX1200 S two months ago my previous bike was a Honda CBF 600 guess what... the ZRX is easier to ride and handling is way better than the CBF. Like BBLC&B said you just need to be strong when pushing it round the garage as it is a heavy bike at a standstill. Would I recommend ZRX1200 after owning a Hornet? Yes. Go for it

    • @404michaelnotfound

      Did you buy the bike ? I have been in love with zrxs and xjr as well. How is the seating position beeing 6'2?

    • @0trov_
      @0trov_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@404michaelnotfound Yes I did. Best decision I ever made. That engine is pure gold. Seating wise its best you gonna get for that type of bike. Its super confy, i did multiple 500 km trips in 1 day.

  • @williamzeller294
    @williamzeller294 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's not proper to refer to the ZRX series as "Eddie Lawson Replicas". There's no relationship beyond a vaguely similar color scheme.
    Lawson's racer was a derivative of the air-cooled Z series and the actual Replica bike was a KZ1000J model with a couple of modifications and the special paint.
    The ZRX is entirely different, with the liquid-cooled engine shared by several lines including the Ninja 900, ZX1100E (aka "GPZ"), Voyager, and ZZR1200.
    I had a J-model back in the day (not the Lawson-paint version) and now have the ZRX. They could hardly be more different, and the performance of the ZRX is so far beyond the old J as to defy comparison.

      I did actually refer to this in the video, saying how those in the know (such as yourself) do not consider these to be Eddie Lawson Replica's" but thanks for your comment :)

    Lets say what is wrong with it, shorter list, hard to find good copies, other than that nothing wrong. Best looking naked bike around faster than 99.5% of riders need and reliable as a toyotra camry. What else is there to say last fast and pretty as the beauty queen in a bikini on a hot summers day. One look at either and you want to jump on and rider like ya stole her
