You are wise to know your budget and to stick to it. There is no reason for parents to kill their budgets for Christmas. Enjoy having younger children. I love shopping for gifts for younger children but now my children are 7 and 12 years old and my oldest child wants a laptop (which she is getting). The 7 year old wants a phone (HA!)! Not happening! We're also a single income family but on top of that, I'm also a student so we're having to pay for gas and parking for me to get to school.
Erica Pakluck Thank you for not getting the 7 year old a phone. It's so rare these days! I got my first phone at 11, because that is when High School starts in my country. My 6 year old niece already has a smartphone. She doesn't have a sim card, so she can't call with it and is not allowed to take it to school. But it happens that they can call at such a young age! Most of the time, you have to go to Target after Christmas to get great clearance prices for the following year. That's what I do. Then, I get my kids a couple of newer items not on clearance..but still on sale.

That Play Doh kit!!! 👍 My 4yo likes to craft with me too. He claims that his "office" is under the kitchen table. Haha. So he got his own art set this year. Horary for crafty kids!
You really did a great job picking on toys for fantastic prices ! I think next year I am going to shop throughout the year with Clearance . I always look at the clearance toys but never think ahead like that.

Boy oh boy I don't ever remember being able to spend 100 or under on each child for Christmas ever.. Canada is very expensive I guess. We spent approx 500 each kid up to age 13 once they hit 13 the budget went up to 1000 each child. Things N wishlists get more expensive as they age ours r now 18 16 and 10 the older ones get 300 in gifts under the tree N we give them 500 cash to spend boxing day. The 10 yr old still believes in Santa tho

*We do the Want/Need/Wear/Read/Surprise plus one Santa gift for our kids. This helps to keep the number even for our 4 and 6 year old kiddos. From there, we TRY to keep to a similar budget but it doesn't always work.*

That's not fair. You should get them the same AMOUNT of gifts. Kids don't care how much each item costs. If they see their sibling opening 5 gifts while they only get to open 2, that doesn't bother you? Wow.
