Man, I really feel sorry for Antonov. Easily one of the best newcomers. He’s such an upbeat fellow who’s ready to take his lost like a champ and then mr. plot device showed up and was causing chaos while yelling “What you mean that I’m the least popular character in the roster!?”. Thanks for recap of Shun’ei arc, Shoryugaming. I can’t wait for XV!
Antonov was the first KOF host to not have any weird motivation behind him, it's kind of funny.

@@MaoriGamerDood to be fair Shun’ei still trying find what he is exactly. SNK tried to make cool character. But his design become got opposite reactions. But as times it looks like people are warming up to Shun’ei.
You know I do find it funny that the KOF license just keeps being passed to a lot of people in the series lol. Like, one game it is a evil business man, another a businesswoman, a mercenary leader, an evil organization, the son and daughter of a crime lord and now Antonov in 14. Seriously, the license must be super flexible to be passed around like that and as for the story, only four teams had anything big to do with the end of the story leading to 15.....except for the main character lol. Regardless I am excited for 15 to drop, especially since even my friends are hyped for it so nice recap Shoryugame!
Kof 15 is where shun ei just first became full protagonist so pretty much it's like the starting of his saga lmao
Funnily enough after all these games it was ironic how kof started because geese wanted to use the competition to target ryo and terry. Everything went batshit insane once Orochi got involved and whole kof saga went crazier from there.
@@toledochristianmatthew9919 I still find it funny that in one universe Terry is the 1 who won the king of fighters but then chronologically Ryo is the 1st 1 to have won the king of fighters and then we go to the king of fighters universe itself and Kyo won the first tournament lol. It's like the king of fighters crossover games that later on became its own thing was meant to cross over with art of fighting and fatal fury.

Seems that the fight for space and time isn't over. The Ash saga was just the prelude.

That was a great recap Shoryu. SNK did a great job bringing back the favorites using verse, but not pandering to us as well. Killing Orochi again was like them saying, "We know you missed the Orochi team, but this is still our story." Love it! Even my friends who grew up with KOF but left it behind are willing to get onboard with 15 because they brought back some favorites. This should be fun for some old school, side-by-side, slugfests with beer, and jokes lol.
I recommend you guys read the KoF 14 Manga. It's kinda non canon but it's definitely a good read.
Funny thing is in their team story, the Ikaris mentioned that Shun'ei went berserk last tournament which only occured in the manga. pretty weird.

As much as I hate Shun's design.
I like the idea of a rookie main protagonist with potential and not being the champion in his debut (unlike Kyo, K' and Ash)
My main complain in KOF XIV story was how Japan Team were the ones who saved the day at the end.
That's boring
Just imagine how much better would have been if Fatal Fury Team (you know, the team who is very closer with Tung) were the ones who defeat Verse.
Also, I am not a fan of how Tung trusting his disciples to Kyo.

In the new canon.
Ash Team were the champions in KOF 2003 and beated Mukai.
Whether you call this arc the
- Shun’ei Arc
- Verse Arc
- The Phantoms of Time & Space Arc

- The 18-5 22-5-18-19-5 Arc
This Arc has its peaks and valleys, and I’m glad you took us for a rise since the Beginning Shoryugame.
I meant verse and that dead characters were coming back so reverse. Don't know exactly what those numbers mean.
This Saga might as well be called the *"Aether Storyline"* because it's also about Multiverse, Resurrections, Time and Space but minus the Zombies.

I say Kim could Team with members of the Taekwando Legacy, people that use a specific combat art, or the one I want a Team consisting of characters from Fatal Fury
As for Team Wild Card…yeah….I like the idea of all of Ash’s Teammates teaming with each other…kind that of a missed opportunity for this game…Alongside a Those From the Past Team (Shion,Botan, Shroom/Rimelo)
Granted, I’m not that lore Savi on KOF like I am with other fighting games such as Tekken and Mortal Kombat, but seeing your videos on all for Sagas made me so hyped and prepared for the storyline in KOF XV! Thanks Shoru.😎👊🏾👍🏾🔥

Same here. I bought KOF XV after not playing many of the previous ones because the lore intrigued me. Verse looks like a Castlevania boss, and I love the Castlevania series.
First KOF arc: Orochi Saga
2nd KOF arc: NESTS Saga
3rd KOF arc: Ash Saga
4th KOF arc: Shun'ei's Left And Right Hands Saga
Great recap! While I'm glad they found a way to revive a lot of canonically dead characters, it sucks that the story is... just that. It's kinda lacking when you compare it to the other sagas :/
To be fair we've only seen the story of one game in this saga, XV may just change things around...
To be fair, the sole purpose for Verse is to revive old characters, so things are going to be more straightforward in 14.
Rather have a dream match for that, but that’s just me.

As for your top 16 absentees characters video:
16. Makes sense. Chin would definitely sense the evil of Verse, so cutting him and Sie Kensou was odd.
15. You’re wrong. There are leaks for a future Samurai Showdown team with Nakoruru. It will literally be the third team.
14-12. The reason they wouldn’t is because they don’t know each other well anymore. Ash being erased made them just acquaintances that were hired for the same tournament.
11. Takuma turn it down casually in the Art of Fighting team story. That was sad. Maybe he was just too overpowered.
10-8. The running joke was okay at first, but getting them beaten up in the NESTS saga was too much already. It was like characters were cut before they were even thought of. We need them back, and them being too goofy isn’t a good reason anymore when comic relief teams like the Women Fighters and the Art of Fighting teams exist.
7. Shingo was mentioned in Kyo’s interview, but that’s it. Only doing errands. Why😓?
6-5. I agree completely and I’m glad they are back. But it was hinted in a leak along with the next one.
4. The problem with Yamazaki is that he’s to berserk. That’s why the special team was fought first in the 97 arc of All star. He would kill the opponents. But he’s back anyway. But mark my words, in the 2003 and XV arcs of All star, the player will fight Yamazaki first to prevent the player questioning why Yamazaki didn’t kill the opponents.
3-2. Mature and Vice always looked like extras just so that the Yagami team would be easier to make. They lost any good story credibility for showing up in 13 as easy replacements for Oswald and a new character.
1. Kim never looked amazing or even interesting in my eyes. If it weren’t for the weird designs for Chang and Choi, the Korea team would be cut, not the USA team. He was the easiest to cut. But don’t worry, as it’s confirmed that he’ll return as DLC in 2023.

Hi @shoryugame ! Have you or would you be interested in doing a lore video on covering some kof villan/evil type characters 🤔 like jazu and silver... maybe even xanadu ect? Or have you did that video allready and I missed it ?
There isn't much lore about these characters to make full videos dedicated to them. I did talk about them in some top ten videos though (the top ten mid bosses and crazy/weird characters).
This could be an Interesting Saga, but I do feel that it's got a lot of Flaws, while KOF XV is gonna be a Plot Continuation to XIV but my Mind does tell me there's going to be a few Changes in terms of Consistencies,
- Some of the Newcomers in XIV are gonna get either Dropped or come back later as DLC (so that *Xanadu* can Rot in the Dirt, but I am Hoping for *Nakaruru* to make a Return since she was a Key Character in XIV).
- Retconning the KOF XIV Arcade Endings and Character/Team Story Details, while Japan Team and Yagami Team Endings are both 100% Canon and the Invitation Team Ending is 50% Canon, but all the other Team Endings are obviously going to be Non Canon right down to 0%.
- Characters like *Love Heart* and *Mui Mui* will be Erased from the KOF Canon because of the Licensing Issues.
Stuff like you mentioned, the many retcons the actual SNK has made ("thanks" Oda) and bringing back death characters have made me gave up with the main plot of this new arc and the series in general.
For me KOF ended with XIII despite all the problems that game felt more like a proper goodbye.
I am going to play KOF XV not for the plot this time (expect maybe the sub plot with the NESTS characters)

Verse inst a being "created" for Ash ending in Kof 13, those being are a fusion of souls and already exist in other dimension, but cant get a fisical form in this world
Only with the "help" of someone with Spirit powers (like Shunei) working like a "medium" can appear in this world
Kukri know of the existence of the Verse beings and want to sumon one to revive his death master Dolores
All what happen in KoF 14 was a plot making by Kukri

I thought you would also include the XV Team Stories atleast of main teams for the recap.
This saga had nothing much happening. There's even no hierarchy in the bosses in each game, unlike the others.
Orochi Saga had disciple (Rugal), priest (Goenitz) and god (Orochi), NESTS Saga had ranked bosses, and Crimson Ash the collection of Sacred Treasures.
With Shun'ei Saga, it's just Shun'ei's left and right spectral hands. LOL
I would love to see Rugal Bernstein Igniz and Krizalid to return in The King of Fighters XV

When I said that Kukri can't be trusted, I was wrong, AGAIN. 4 days ago, I read Ash Team's backstory in XV and what I read about Kukri's sad story that he lost his teacher (Dolores), finally I understand what he wanted in XIV. He helped Elisabeth to find Ash, while Elisabeth and Ash to help Kukri to find Dolores but still again I misjudge them. Isla, Dolores and now Kukri. Thats why he has became a person with rage, regret, hate and talking dirty. Also Shoryu Game, when we get also the future game KOFXVI, can you make a complete 4th saga story video?
Kukri is a jerk, but he's not evil. I personally love his character.

In the manga it was Geese Howard who beat verse (and very easily i might add), Geese took control of verse and was then a beaten by Shunei, not team japan. Also Antonov never actually got to fight anybody in the manga, So which is canon? the game or the manga?

He died in the Fatal Fury timeline, and he stayed dead there.
Kof and FF with AoF have different timelines.
Is the manga to KOF 14 canon?
It is so weird that Shun ei plays such a minimal role in KOF XIV although he is supposed to be the main character, its the "shun' ei saga" yet kyo puts him hidden in the shadows. What a horrible debut for him. And his twisted outfit doesn't make it better. I hope he'll get some more fame in this new opus. And also a decent looking alternative costume.
Actually in kof 14 SNK doesn't know if they want him too be protagonist yet probably that's why in kof 15 he will be fully lead the story SNK hyping up for his saga meaning SNK really care about shun ei

It makes no sense that Geese is alive Terry beat him and then he died.
The King of Fighters timeline is different from the Fatal Fury/Art of Fighting timeline Geese and Krauser didn’t die in KOF timeline
I hated shun ei cause I thought he was boring but now after reading his story he's a pretty cool character

Team Japan won again??? So sick of them hogging the spotlight even on a KOF story arc where Kyo is no longer the main protagonist, they should have given the honors to shun nei himself as much as I don't like them.
At this point they've become an almost predictable and unreletable Mary Sue(S)

I really dislike this type of character design. Why a fighter has to wear headphones??? Why this hyper-modern crazy design??? KOF always had a serious tone and cool design for most of his characters (maybe Choi and Chang being a bit weird but still ok). I can't take most of the new characters serious because of this forced modern design. But I also prefear the old school KOF sprites up till XI, 98 UM and 2002 UM so maybe that's why.
Go to kof 15 website and read ex story shun ei why his wearing headphones other than that his actually suck at fashion he leaves with master tung fu re at mountain he pretty much don't know crap about city he didn't even know about BBQ lol

KOF XIV felt more like a reboot than a sequel.
