    Clever edit at arround 10:08, they muted piano to make "room" for the guitar solo. That is a smart choice with only 4 tracks for the entire mix. I can´t imagine the struggle to make an entire record with only 4 tracks for the full session. a few years later people used 4 tracks at home for home demos. Thats insane. Revolver ,Sgt. Pepper and part of the white album was also made in only 4 tracks, that´s amazing.

    John hated double tracking but this one is so clean, he must have been really locked in that day

    • @WesleyScottOfficial
      @WesleyScottOfficial ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think you've got that backwards. He didn't like the sound of his voice so would often double track or want an effect on his voice.

    • @timcox5373
      @timcox5373 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@WesleyScottOfficial John hated double tracking because you have to match with your previous performance so close and it’s REALLY tedious, if you’re off by too much it sounds awful and prior to Revolver they double tracked nearly all of their vocals because that was the style and it sounds GREAT. John asked the engineers at EMI to create an alternative specifically because he hated doing it manually, thus Automatic Double Tracking was invented. While true he disliked his voice, in cases like this double tracking was just what The Beatles did to make their voices thicker in recordings

    WRT the percussion overall something to note: the intro aside the drums play the same pattern throughout the song-no deviations for changes like to the chorus or bridge. Alone that may seem pedestrian, even uncharacteristic. But for this song it was appropriate: Ringo on the free-form bongos is doing all the percussive work. By playing the drums totally straight from start to finish Ringo can just go for it on the bongos and not worry about some conflict between the two.

      I Agree that guitar is out of tune, I can tell from the first 4 bars ib B7 chord, a little painfull LOL But It´s John we can forgive. It´s a ´62 Fender Stratocaster with a trem (or vibrato) (Same as George´s), It can often go out out off tune, ask me how I know, but It seems In the final mix It didn´t show. Good catch!
