lol yeah a lot of reaction channels start off thinking it's like Slime with befriending a dragon at the start and starting a new town with varied races.
There's so much additional world-building they couldn't fit in the anime. There are actually several other significant characters that should be introduced soon (remember the Goddess, AKA "bug" as Makoto takes to calling her in the novel, mentioned she had found other heroes) but instead are pushed to the second season in the anime. There's also a lot more information about Shin and the nature of the demiplane that never gets explained here. I'll put some details from the novels below (not really spoilers, but just in case people want to avoid it). For instance, the demiplane is what earned Shin her epithet "the Invincible". Against strong foes, she would just pull them into the demiplane where she controls everything and use that to beat them. She actually tried to pull Makoto in but could not (for slightly spoilerish reasons, though the anime never explains it; I'll explain it when it comes up the second time). However, her contract with Makoto has completely changed how it works: she's lost control over it beyond creating gates, and its size and nature depend mostly on him now. Also, you saw that Makoto cannot use wind or healing magic. The reasons will probably never be explained in the anime but are spoilers for this point in the novel. However, being able to use all other elements so easily is abnormal. Most mages focus on only one and struggle to learn more than two or three effectively. His ability to control and reshape his mana (turning bhrid into a bow & arrow or spear) is also so freakish that other characters comment on it several times. Also, his talent with water in particular is world-class while his second-strongest affinity is darkness. Beyond that, he has a massive advantage over all other mages in the setting: the language ability the bug gave him in Ep1. This is very briefly mentioned when Emma chanted her spell and said it's hard to chant because it's not in Orcish, but Makoto said it sounded the same to him. Mages use a number of special languages for their magic incantations, and most learn those incantations by rote without any understanding of what they mean. Makoto's language gift lets him understand and use all of those languages instinctively, and he finds he can optimize the incantations to be shorter, produce different effects, and create entirely new spells with minimal effort. These changes are the sort of thing the most talented mages in the world spend years studying to do, and he can just do it on the fly. (why we never see him use the telekinesis spell I have no idea; it didn't look like wind magic) And the parents knew one of their children would be taken eventually. They were covertly giving the kids training on Earth, like encouraging Makoto in archery and getting some family friends to give him basic training in kendo and unarmed martial arts.
Thanks for this. Given than his strongest affinities are Water and Darkness, I wondered if his contracts effected that, or if his 1st 2 followers simply happened to match his affinities. Another example of the preparation is the bed time stories/fathers fantasy novels; though Makoto seem sto have taked more from anime/games than that.
The demiplane is constantly evolving as the show goes on so you get more answers as you watch. It's super cool though. The demiplane is really important to the main chars + followers so it's a pretty big factor in the story.
Ngl, as strong as Nazarick is, Makoto might eventually become stronger. The spider girl is actually based off a character from LOTR. She embodies darkness and entropy. Without world items, Nazarick would be in trouble.
Even with no WIs, Nazarick would rock most of the new world's strongest. They only really need WIs for dealing with other WIs and Wild Magic, and even then only for effects they can't work around. As for Makoto, definitely depends on what point in his story we're talking about.
One other thing that only gets explained in the novels at some point (I forget where it is, but it doesn't really spoil anything in my opinion; nonetheless, you have been warned not to open "Read more" if you care about that): . . . . . Hyumans are the Goddess's attempt to copy the original world's (Earth's) humans. They are universally attractive but tend to be more petty and casually cruel and are kind of weak. The Goddess's blessing and regular interference are about the only reasons Hyumans are dominant in the world. Makoto's older sister is full Hyuman but had the blessing, so she was fine from birth on Earth. Makoto is mostly Hyuman but did not get the blessing (which might also be the reason he did not get the Hyuman good looks: they might not be inherent to the species at all), so he barely survived birth and was extremely sickly and weak for a long time because of how relatively hard it is to live on Earth. He gradually adapted and got stronger, "growing out" of his sickly phase (though that left him rather short), and that growth is what helped him be superhuman (or superhyuman) on the Goddess's world. His younger sister seems to have been born adapted to Earth already, so she is probably closer to Human than Hyuman.
I rmb a comment from other videos that he actually possess alot of power, of all attribute and magic type But because of that, when coming to Earth, it became a detriment, causing him to self destruct on birth So they had to sacrifice some of his abilities so he could live through One of them being healing magic. Hence why he couldn't do healing magic.
Funny you said Tsukimichi took their time to go through things, because according to fans of the OG source material, they been saying how the anime gone really fast. I guess 2nd season most likely following the pacing of the LN.
Close, but they still glossed over some things that could have gone into more details. They still did a good job though. Like one thing coming up in the next episode. I'll wait till then to go into it. It's somewhat a small thing, but not really.
Little more information about his "kai" power. As he explained this episode, it's a space he can expand or contract as much as he wants. While in that space, he can control what kind of power it has. Be it healing, a curtain element type, searching, strengthening or whatever he wants. The drawback to it is this. The farther away from his body he extends it, the weaker it becomes. So while he can search out pretty far, the fewer details he's able to pick up for instance. In the same vain, the closer he keeps it to himself, the stronger the effect.
ya his dad and mom know they promised the goddess to give up something they love the most(a kid) and i'm sure tysomi (can't spell) would have given them a heads up.
@@MaikouYoruno Exactly, he left two letters. One was for his parents and one for his sisters. Since he wasn't sure if his parents had or would tell his sisters the truth about where he had gone, he wrote to them saying he was going on a trip abroad.
That is very good story and not your usual isekai. I won't say too much in hope of not spoiling it. But it's a different way of telling the story and takes a few episodes to figure out what is going on.
Hmm i can answer your question about the Demiplane but i think it counts as a "Spoiler" cause there is some stuff related to it later in the series but I'm not sure 😅 and yeah it's kinda similar to slime in some aspects but not too much you'll notice some similarities as you go on but not too much (probably just some handful things that are honestly very common in Isekai genre now a days i mean I've watched at least 2 more other anime that have these similarities other than slime but they each have different stories and different aspects to them that differentiate them from each other and each of them is good in their own way not because of the similarities but because of their individuality)

True for the most part, but I think we can over look it though. Smile did get an anime first. The biggest thing I feel people need to remember is they and a few others came out originally pretty close together. Since this was close to the beginning of when isekai became big, they might have influenced each other some. No one is saying one stole from the other, but they might have had a hand in shaping one another some.
I completely agree with you. It might seem slow, but you have to do that to build up the world some so the rest of it makes since. Especially what will come in season three, hopefully. I'm SO looking forward to whenever they bring it to us, which I hope is soon.
I liked the 2nd season too, but I was disappointed that every obstacle he faces this season seems to have completely disappeared and even if it was to have the finale end where it did, there were some mini-arcs that felt like they could have been one episode, rather than 5-6; it's mainly how tightly paced the side stories are that makes some of the main plot feel dragged out in comparison.
