I'm playing Sunshine on the Switch 3D All Stars collection and currently these levels are the bane of my existence. Still, very satisfying when you get the hang of them and finish them.
Is it just me or does Mario look ever so slightly taller without FLUDD? Also I find it interesting that The Goopy Inferno is the only non-secret level that takes away FLUDD. It doesn’t even let you keep him upon reentering the level after completing it.
Yeah he kind of does. Sometimes I like re-entering the goopy inferno and just walk and run around and feeling Mario without fludd, he doesn’t feel as heavy

I know these levels are challenging and stress inducing but I have to say I really did enjoy these levels. It really gave you a sense of accomplishment, each time I failed and tried again I felt that I was getting better, and it can be really fun if you know how to transverse it safety. Not counting the chuckster level I would def come back to theses now that I can transverse them safely.
Kinda wish the game had a secret mode that you can unlock at the end of the game where you try to assault-course run all of these in a row for the best time.
Favorite part of Sunshine. I adore the whole game, don't get me wrong, but this dreadful feeling of going inside one of these and the 60 minutes of suffering that follow, that end with a power orgasm once you reach the end is just beautiful, and one of the reasons I love video games as a whole. The severe challenge and the rewarding feeling. It's also a reason why Sunshine and Cuphead are two of my favorite games, ever.

One time I was playing truth or dare during a sleepover and someone dared me to do one of these courses with the joy con drift. I accepted the dare (because I played one of the secret courses with Joy con Drift and had experience) so anyway, I did it. It took me 20 tries and won. What my friends didn't know was that I did mot have a Joy-Con that Drifted so I chose the oldest one we had. They gave me $40 instead of $20. To everyone who says it is fake, It is not.
i think the reason why these levels were so freaking difficult for me as a kid was because back then i didnt have a firm understanding on marios moveset, i didnt really know how to side jump, spin jump or triple jump, i would just kinda jump towards my destenation and let fludd handle the rest. i feel like the game could have greatly benefitted if it had some kind of jumping tutorial where it explained all the different kinds of jumps and how to do it. even if they did something like sprinkle a few signs around the secret levels with instructions on how to do all the different kinds of jumps it would be much better
The fact that FLUDD doesn't even tell you how to spin and spray or let out out a big burst of water in the tutorial. You have to look it up in the manual
for some reason i game overed like 5 times each on the secret levels in bianco hills but didnt struggle a lot with any of the other ones (or any of the red coin shines within any of them). probably because i wasn't fully used to the controls yet since i just 100% sm64 and that mario's physics are alot different in that game. i also didn't have a lot of lives yet. but yea these are still tough.

The fact that FLUDD doesn't even tell you how to spin and spray or let out out a big burst of water in the tutorial. You have to look it up in the manual

for some reason i game overed like 5 times each on the secret levels in bianco hills but didnt struggle a lot with any of the other ones (or any of the red coin shines within any of them). probably because i wasn't fully used to the controls yet since i just 100% sm64 and that mario's physics are alot different in that game. i also didn't have a lot of lives yet. but yea these are still tough.
