The KANN Personnel & Equipment Transport Barge is a structural all-weld marine grade aluminum barge with sizes ranging from:
25 ft. to 40 ft. lengths
8 ft. to 12 ft. widths
2.5 ft. to 4 ft. depths
The barge features removable bench seating (seating options available in multiple types and configurations) and large open deck for the transport of multiple types of equipment.

Pontoon was beached on boat ramp, load that truck up again and pull away from dock.

The barge is rated for 24,000 lbs. with a draft of 1" for every 2,150 lbs, so an 8,000 lb. pickup truck only has a draft of about 4" from that of the empty barge, so really not a problem. Thanks

The barge is built by our company located in Guttenberg, Iowa (www.kannmfg.com). This particular transport barge could be used to transport a standard shipping container, the barge is rated to carry up to 24,000 lbs. Thanks

What differentiates this from a large pontoon boat (other than load ramp)??

Thank you for your question... This particular barge was built as a dual purpose commercial transport to carry personnel and cars/equipment between the mainland and islands in the northeast. The reason they choose a flat bottom barge over a pontoon was due to the work barge is built more structural given the 100% welded aluminum box structure with a lattice truss support system engineered to support their diverse loading requirements. Further, it was determined that since the flat bottom work barge has more surface (area) contact with the water, given their loading conditions, the barge would provide better load (water) displacement and stability allowing heavier loads and better planing conditions under load. There were also some small considerations such as the addition of a thick aluminum bow doubler plate so the bow could be better protected with the consistent contact with the shore during loading/unloading.
