Yeah, almost every popular channel is getting these types of scammers. You can usually spot them because if you trace their channel, it is not authentic. no viewers no friends, etc..

As frustrating as the lack of space may be now, I bet when you move onto a bigger rig you'll get sentimental, and sad to see Ru go. I would get claustrophobic sleeping that close to the roof. Blue is so easy to travel with.
My old dog hasn't been able to get up the last 6 months. She's a lot of work but I won't give up on her as long as she has an appetite :(

I have a 2010 Subaru Outback with a 6 inch memory foam pad, no build, and I can only imagine how you feel with your platform! I felt so cramped in my car even just for sleeping. I have to be outside the rest of the day so it doesn’t mess with my headspace.

As your channel grows so will your need for more equipment and more room. Get something reliable with plenty of room. I hate to see Ru go but it is time.
I used to live in a Eurosport Chevy 2 door circa 1989-1992 , I slept in the front seat mostly because I was on the streets. It was dangerous. Sometimes crazy and also fun. I was 19 years old. I had cans of food, a hammer and a screwdriver. I will make a video sometime all about it. Crazy times. So, yes I know totally what it’s like, liberating and scary too. I had a rat 🐀 loved her, she traveled with me. Now I have a family and I do fun videos on you tube too. You’re films take me back to the good ole crazy days .
Get a bigger rig, ru can retire. Wish I had a van or something when I lived in a car. Sometimes I sleep in my truck at the farm and takes me back. How fun it was and hard too. If I ever had to Id live in a bigger vehicle. You’ll do great!!
I have two primo 3 gallon canisters that I really like! They’re so cheap to refill - around $1 for 3 gallons and they’re the perfect size when I car camp in my sedan. I put them in the foot area in the backseat and lay my mattress over them to extend the foot space when I’m sleeping. Good luck choosing your new rig!! Sounds like fun honestly

My Aussie went on his final adventure to heaven and my poor heart is living for you and Blue ❤️🐾 We camped in my blue Subaru chasing wildlife biology temp jobs but now I'm in an office with no pup and I wish had a video log of our adventures. It's almost the month of July and I'm still binge watching the videos because I'm just so sad that Blue passed. I am only a subscriber, but I have watched your tribute to him at least 7 times and I still can't stop crying each time. So can't imagine Maria, what you are going through. All I can say is I love you and loved Blue so much. Sitting back and hoping in time, you come back with Taz (I still call her Miss Thing) and film these excellent adventures. Until we meet again. I was homeless for a long while.. I hated it because I was always at the mercy of someone else!! Final one day I was able to buy a RV pop up camper which was so awesome because I had so much more room , a refridgerator, a heater, no bathroom, but that wasn't to hard to figure out. My most thankful thing about what I had was I could

I’m sentimental about things but at the same time I knew the day was coming. Rue has gone as far as possible as is and either it’s a major investment in Rue or it’s time to get a newer vehicle for sure. It’s the passing of the baton! That’s how we can think of it. But it definitely is a huge decision to make. I don’t envy ya. Time for the Jackery battery pack 😁

Sucks that blue will be a senior soon. As much as I love some of these larger breeds this is exactly why I much prefer smaller breeds. They have a longer lifespan and are not considered seniors until 11-12 years. Regardless, it looks like yours still has a long and healthy life ahead of him and that's all that really matters. 👍

I think 7yrs for a dog is the new 3yrs. 🙂 Seriously. Dogs have much better diets and health now. My Cattle Dog lived to 17yrs. He was mostly outdoors and was not "babied" in any way. He ate very well. Blue has lots of time left.❤️
Ru... no. Ru is ready for retirement. Ru needs to be a grocery getter now. I miss my first apt. It was in a sus neighborhood. It had the worst management. It was mine and I was happy in it. You'll miss Ru, but not so much you'll wish you'd kept her. You and Blue need room to stretch in comfort.

Btw , just get the brake PADS REPLACED (cheap and easy) before they grind into the discs (more expensive) and keep chugging on. I run a two door Jeep with a spacious ground tent. My K9, Brandy is her name, have plenty of room this way. In a pinch we can sleep inside the Jeep.

Yes girl. I would have a big problem not being able to sit up in my bed without my head hitting the ceiling. You and Blue need a bigger rig ASAP. Don't worry about Blue turning 7, he's good to go for many, many more years.
One six gallon Igloo water jug (Walmart or amazon) with one spigot accessory will save you from having to buy all those separate gallons and save you in town trips. Rachel it into the top of Ru & you can use it right from there. Also, there are PLENTY of places to fill it up and even for free like I do.
A dog is considered a senior at 7? Who invented that? My dog is 12, and yes, he is a senior. But no need to even think about Blue becoming a senior any time soon, he runs like a puppy...
I totally get your sentimental thoughts about Ru, yet I am sure you will enjoy more space and off-road experiences.
My journey started in a very small Ford KA and I lived in it for a year. After that I was really ready for more space and went for a VW T4 right away, which almost felt too overwhelming at first. Sooooo much space! I certainly had my nostalgic moments looking back and still think that was such a special experience, but I never felt the urge to go smaller again.

Puppy dog loves road trips. I drove a truck for awhile and it had a sleeper. Most of my showers and food was truckstops every couple of days.

I sleep in my 2010 Subaru Forester with two big dogs and it’s super tight. It’s the only thing keeping me from hitting the road full time right now. I totally hear you.
Incidentally, what grabbed my attention and ultimately resulted in me subbing to your channel were the multiple times I caught myself laughing out loud at something you did / said relating to the subi that I myself have done many times in my own. Like rolling/falling off the bed platform and out of the back hatch in the mornings. 😂

My Subaru Outback WIlderness is not a 4x4 but it is one of the most capable offroad light trekkers Subaru has made in a few decades. WIth my new wheels and tires (full sized spare) I have about 10" clearance for those rougher trails (I sold the stock set). This trim has lower gearing, higher clearance, a transmission oil cooler, and pretty good cargo space. Not sure how it compares to yours. It also has a tougher roof rail system that can handle more weight including a rooftop tent or lots of extra cargo. Plus I have a trailer hitch. The reason I mention this is not to sell you if you already have another vehicle or 4X4 in mind, but if you DO like the Subaru and JUST need a bit more room. Consider a Wilderness Edition, or even an Onyx, and if you get it with a trailer hitch you can carry a little camping utility trailer, which is what I am thinking about. I dunno if a rooftop tent is worth it for all the time you are NOT using it. They are nice.. but I dunno. Anyway, you CAN still get your Subbies big brother, and maybe a trail hitch, and still get decent mileage and have more room. I mean, it's nothing compared to a camper, but especially those little teardrop trailers that usually have a kitchen in the back,and plenty of room to sleep in the middle are nice, if expensive. My daughter uses a water filtration thingy...and also a "straw" that has a filter. Get the sticky glue boards and put one under the driver's seat. And u need the window sock screens. Keeps the bugs out and u can crack your windows, which is super necessary. My daughter got more head room buy removing all the seats. Shes 6'1 and can completely sit up in bed. Maybe when u go home u can take them out.
I did my recent my car camping in my small SUV. I thought it would have been much bigger than when reality set in. I think my stealth plan is an AWD minivan on my next car. I need the AWD. A van is not stealth anymore.

It’s definitely tight, little phobic in car + dog. When I was younger I had 4 runner, it’s crazy how much room I had. Plus u can build little those car, extra water storage, roof rack and so on. But u definitely will have more room to play with. Plus Toyota it’s extremely reliable. Won’t have loose any sleep because someone told u ur transmission might go out.
Have you ever watched ABCamping? He has the greatest dog named Bruce! He talks about how much care that type of dog requires, like Blue ❤

I'm not that big and I've lived in small spaces before--plus I'm longing to move around a bit! :) You make whatever changes you need to; 'Ru's been awesome but you knew he wouldn't last forever. I have a 1996 Chevy Astro Van AWD, and I get at least 450 miles per tank, and still have some gas ⛽ left in the tank. They are well known to get between 300, and 400 thousand miles with just good maintenance. 3,000 mile oil change, Properly inflation of the tires, Good tires, Keep the fluid levels where they need to be. The Van is built of a TRUCK FRAME, which will help it last longer. Look for the AWD model, they were made about ten years.
I feel very uneasy, moody and sensitive when i dont get enough sleep so hope you sleep well on daily basis.

As far as your power station if the battery is getting old that will happen. The internal resistance of the battery increases over time and when you put a load on it the voltage drops and it thinks the battery is dead. My phone battery drops from 20% to shutting off precipitously because of the old battery having high internal resistance.

Get settled in the car earlier in the day to avoid the bugs. Either sleep longer nights or rise earlier. So many little ways around making life easier with this lifestyle (I live like you do)

I'll give you my opinion virtually... since we aren't in person... I couldn't do it... I couldn't sleep with that little headroom above thr bed platform.
I totally get the why of added storage space... but for me... nope.
I have a kia soul that I sleep in... I removed a seat back from the 60 split side to drop it down a little more so I could sit up in bed. I'm sure I could make due in Ru... but it wouldnt it wouldn't be my preference of setup

You need a truck and truck camper or a all wheel drive van life van but they are crazy expensive.

Try rubbing vinegar on your bites at times it will help and rashes you get from ivy and also drink about about a half ounce a day you will be in such great health
Use roll on deodorant to stop mosquito bites itching scratching, I use brand called mum or rexona, so try different ones until your itching stops

Once the transmission fluid level was returned to the proper level, is Ru driving any differently? Transmission repair shops are notorious for showing metal bits and telling folks their transmission is about to go. Ru likely has a lot of miles left on her. I would get a satellite phone just incase Ru did break down in the middle of nowhere. However, the time to move on from a vehicle is when it gets boring and something new and exciting is needed. Anyone watching the videos knows sadly Ru's time has come.
Well u can blame them, they want to make money. And some of them poorly train, so they just don’t know what they are talking about. There is no way to tell how bad is problem. Me personally I wouldn’t sweat over it. If this synchronizer no big deal, if this is some else and transmission feels fine, probably extra parts that no need anyway.
@@ivanm2207 I bought a new Outback in 2016. It was my dream car, have a set up for camping so I sleep just above floor level on one side and cabinets for stuff on the other with a slide out shelf for making coffee, cooking, etc.. And the car is low enough to get my fishing kayak onto the roof easier than my last van. In the first month after I got my much anticipated first Outback I went out one morning and found the windshield cracking from the corner on the passenger side, looks like Maria's windshield, hers is similar but worse. I hadn't hit any stones or even a big bug, but the dealership claimed I did (I WAS PARKED)! I called Subaru Corporate from the dealership and, since they had (mistakenly?) posted a service bulletin about that issue online, they fixed it so I didn't have to make an insurance claim. A few months later I got a letter from Subaru about transmission flaws they had discovered and extended the warranty on the transmission to 100,000 miles. Not happy, since I over-maintain the car, planning to get over 200 - 300k miles from the car based on its reputation for durability. The camping set up is fine for just me, and maybe would be okay with a dog if the dog slept in the front seat. But I would get CLAUSTROPHOBIC sleeping that close to the roof.
Hope you get your dream rig Maria. I'd love to know what it is, but maybe it's already been in another video and I missed it. Looking forward to finding out what it is. When you said it would need restoration my first guess was a rare 4WD VW camper. I've had a couple of those, 2WD though, continuous repair issues though. Lucky I had a factory trained VW tech as a friend in those days. Good luck moving on up to your next home on wheels, whatever it is.!

Do you still have the rear seats installed? I've ripped the back seats out and fabbed up a system that is flat all the way back and have stowage underneath. World of difference for head room if I have to sleep in the Forester if it's raining and don't want to get out of the car.
Not a bad recommendation, I've taken my seats out and built as well, maybe Maria has a reason shes not done that 🤷♀️👍

dog lives are too short. id donate years if I could to them. Blue looks great, he's mid size, he's like me about mid 40s still got a lot of trails in him , and he's got a lady who cares...thats the most important. hope the smoke stays south , we are thick down here.
