Indian music is indeed very different from the rest of the world. I had been studying about this for quite some time now. A really vast genre I must say. It is the only kind where you can find different emotional setups. These melodic frameworks are called ragas or raag. There are over 300 ragas of different situation and emotions. For example we have raag for the time of dawn(raag Ahir bhairav), the raga of nights(raag Malkauns) and many more. It is said that the ragas of rain (eg. raag megh malhaar) brings rain to the area(actual historical evidences are there). In the similar way there are ragas of love and sadness too. They all are very enchanting in nature. modern day Psychiatrists use these ragas to change the mood of a patient and its known as raga therapy. The roots of Indian classical music comes from the vedas which are the religious scriptures of hinduism(sanatan dharma). they all have an amaizing magical charm to it.

Hi Frank, you are such a talented and music loving person. You have a command over your field. I watched all your videos and they are awesome. I am from India and I also love the music same way. Also, I completely agree with the fact that music is a universal language. Here, male singer mostly sings in chest voice only and I believe that is the case with female singers also. Somewhere in your videos, you mentioned that the girl singing, that's in head voice but I believe that's chest voice, Like in Coke studio, Rahet Fateh Ali khan. But here also, young talented singers are coming up with combination of head chest and mixed voices. I don't believe, music should be categorised with cultures, people and regions. Its universal so we should always be trying to get to the best form of it. I am happy to find a person like u.. 😄😄😄😄😄
