You've been vegetarian you whole life, right?
And you try new fruits because you're interested in exploring taste. Have you ever thought about trying meat from different animals and Fisch and mussels just to experience the taste once? I don't mean you should start eating meat in general, but I would love to see someone try different animals for the first time.
Would be interesting, because you taste fruits most of us never hab bevor, this way you could taste something you've never had bevor but your audience knows it.
Man I just watching your old videos regarding wrist fruit ever, in that video you got a rotten woodapple , actually a ripe fruit is pinks/brown+ whites colour, and it test little sour+ sweet tangy test and it's flavour is one of the best, and about glue berry , you tested the raw one, ripe one is not good enough but definitely not the wrist fruit, and also not agreed about the domestic amla berry, from this India we made good testy healthy pickel.

One of the craziest parts about this fruit is it's actually related to the Toona sinensis, which produces the beef-tasting Toon leaves, and Mahogany wood!

Inhaling bags of fruit is one of my skills. Lychees and good mandarines are prime candidates. I imagine langsats would also be!
good thing that you have to peel them. that at least slows you down a bit

We have one growing in our backyard. It produces around 40 kilos of fruits when in-season

I know nothing about fruit producing trees, but that seems like an insanely high amount of fruit.

@@fuckgoogleforever The fruits grow on thick branches and in the bark. They'd fall if they're on a flimsy branch cause of how much fruit grows on one bunch. Some people grow it because of the high yield.

I really want to see him try some native Australian fruits like the lilly pilly, native raspberry, Davison's plum, rosellas (wild hibiscus) and a bunch of other fruits. Australian fruits are super underrated.
When I grew up, my backyard neighbor had a Lilly pilly tree, and this was in California. So not sure if it was a botanically similar plant or if it is only native to Australia.

Langsat sounds like it’s a mix of a Mangosteen with a tropical taste
Nah it’s not too soft, it has a bite, a crunch to it. Maybe if frozen but the fresh ones are almost like a rubbery grape. Maybe almost like a rambutan if you’ve had one And similar flavour, with a bit of a citrusy tropical aroma, and a light resiny bitter hint that really rounds it out.
Lol I said this before watching the full video. I’m a bit shocked that he described it exactly the same. The resiny thing. That’s funny because it is spot on.

Tropical taste ?
When I see langsats in the title, my mind goes, "it have claim another victim".
I am a Malaysian. Close to my family house there are a few langsat trees that produce around 20 kilogram each when in seasons. Yes, it will spoils in days, 5 days if you are lucky. But when in season, myself can go through 1-1.5 kilogram per day, which just show how addictive this fruits is. And it cheap, ranging from 1.5-2 USD per kg. Some day, during season my family of five can finish 5 kilograms of langsat just after lunch.
I had some Langsats in Canada once. I thought they were like longan, but when I opened it up, it was in pods. The texture was like a longan, but I think the flavor had this floral note, like jasmine flower.

Just don't bite the seeds. Small ones are ok to swallow them whole, discard those bigger seeds. Them seeds are bitter!
there are moments that i actually want to go to vancouver just so i can have them fresh.
In our Chinatown, in Toronto, they call it Bon-bon. I love them too, although mangosteen is my favorite.

I agree that the longkong variation is highly addictive. I’m growing three trees, two kinds, and one is from the Chanthaburi research station.
I sometimes get annoyed at folk who get obsessed over complex and crazy flavours just because they're complex and crazy. Sometimes, it's just nice to have a tasty, refreshing, and addictive fruit to eat.
Yeah gotta respect simple flavors too. Same reason why bread is so damn good.
Duku is actually sweet version of langsat
I don't know if you've tried sour figs yet. Aka Cape fig or Hottentots fig. It's the edible fruit of the carpobrotus acinaciformis, a succulent native to South Africa. You bite the base off of the dried fruit and squeeze the pulp out. It has a savoury, smoky, tart flavour and kind of reminds me of chipotle sauce without the heat. If you haven't tried it yet, you should totally give it a go!

It's weird that I know that flavor and can almost smell it, it's that intoxicating like perfume. My mind can reconstruct its unique flavor. This is amazing. I love this fruit as well.

Amaizing! It seems to be my imaginary fruit from childhood. I was thinking why nature haven't created such a fruit which has structure of jello but taste more citrusy or pineapply and don't need to be washed just peel like banana, and now I see that fruit actually exist! Cool!
Love the smaller wedges with no seed. But when I do get the seedy one, I keep the seed in my mouth and gnaw on it, really nice.
AKA why I wish I was in a warmer climate zone...

Mind blowing how many fruits are out there. Groceries in the US don't have much. I hardly eat fruits but damn he makes me want some exotic fruit rn lol
well, i live in the philippines where there are lots of fruits, yet the big name groceries only sell a few kind of fruits. it's in the markets where you can find them. most of these fruits really don't have good shelf life, so not commercially viable in large scales.
I love the smaller ones on these. Not a variety, I just prefer the flavor and firmness of the smaller fruits. Like you said too, smaller "slices" don't have seeds too so that's a bonus.

correct they're lansones my favorite fruit ever but of course there's always a drawback just make sure that you don't bite the seed by accident because you will regret it.
as an Indonesian, as far as i know, if it have a sour taste it is Langsat, if it is have a Sweet taste, it is Duku, and the one that more similar to leci with a black round seed in it called Lengkeng
In the Philippines, this fruit is called Lanzones - Langsat in Malaysia. My late grandparents had few Lanzones trees on their property. I love this fruit too!

It's LANZONES! It's the sweetest in Camiguin Island, Mindanao Phililppines. Not sure if you have reviewed the rest of the fruits out there like Guyabano, Sereguellas, Caimito, Atis, Tisa, Marang etc =)

I looked up Langsats tree, and found other langsats that I recognize buying and eating in Thailand. Those are quite sweet, like a 7, and the flavor is a bit like a pear, with a hint of kiwi.
I really love the longkong cause you can just peele them easily and eat them whole right away. Yum.
Yeah, the lack of flavor will be from the freezing process. I love lychees and rambutan but haven't yet tried these, they look delish. I do love mangosteens too so I imagine I'd like them. thanks for showing em off! :)
It's also popular in India in Bengal region it's called Lotka here and they are either sweet or really sour

Go to Camiguin Island in the Philippines where they celebrate the Lanzones Festival on October, its the season of Lanzones or Langsat as you called.
I had langsat years ago when I was in Thailand. I remember it being like a lemon-flavored jellybean.
In Malaysia, Langsat, Duku-Langsat, Duku & Dokong are look similar but they are different in taste, seed colour, size, juiciness and fruit stalk.
In the Philippines we call that LANZONES. One of the expensive native fruit in our country. It bare fruits only once a year. And my favorite fruit indeed. 🤗
Be careful on eating it because the seeds is so bitter.

It is like DUKU (Indonesian) but Duku (or Dukuh) has less water than Langsat. Dukuh Palembang is the most delicious type. It is sweeter... Yummy

So he was reacquainted with Langsats that he was remembering for their goodness. So that was the parody part of ALS. It is not always necessary to walk through the whole explanation of a post. I try to make it possible to be understood to the thinking mind. My posts often have to or three meanings. For you to analyze it as poem form was interesting to me, for I didn't think about that aspect. I can do easy to understand puns too. Here's one just for you. This is my favourite fruit. We called that lanzones in Philippines. It’s very cheap there, but when we moved here in Canada I can’t find them easily. Even if I find them their really expensive per pound can go up to 15 CAD. I havent tasted it for 6years now, you’re right it’s very good and addictive, it’s okay to eat them when the color is a bit black or brown in that stage it is very sweet.
i think i've seen those in my local asian supermarket. never knew how to use them so i wouldn't buy them. now that i know they are to be eaten just as is next time i find them i'll give it a try
We have that here in our contry. (Philippines) but we name it as LANZONES. Theres a legend about it that it’s poisonous.
Grapefruit will affect some cholesterol medication, but you have to consume a pint of the juice to affect it. So eating a grapefruit won’t be enough to affect medication.

Flash freezing methods nowadays are almost magic...
The faster you freeze the product, the less time the water molecules have to link up into a crystalline structure.
That structure is what makes ice less dense than water, and destroys the insides of fruit, etc when frozen with traditional methods.
