It is a very bad situation that Martin Fogarty who worked so hard as Hurling Development manager has not been replaced by Croke Park. I wonder is Croke Park really interested in developing hurling, who appear to be only interested in the bottom line. Liam Burke
I have always thought that it's one of the divine mystery as to why more counties play a basterdised game like gaelic football as opposed to the traditional Irish game hurling.
A Game That is 3000+ years old in Ireland Despite The British Empire Trying to Outlaw it Is Going to Die By the People of Ireland? The Greatest Sport in Sports Ireland's Gift to Sport
Martin said something even I didn't realize and I'm a Kilkenny man myself 😮 yes there are 3 football grades in the county. Junior, intermediate and senior and you have underage from under6s up. Whereas many counties above the so called traditional hurling divide from Galway over to Dublin many don't have 3 grades or even 2, so that immediately should end all the chit chat about Kilkenny not pulling their weight when in fact we have hurling, camogie, ladies + mens football with 3 grades in each. For a reasonably small sized county those others should be ashamed and get their act together, keep hurling alive first and foremost and try to make it flourish.
This means a funded Draft . Similar to NFL in US. Funding travel for 2 training nights & 1 match day should be supported. No county is out of reach in 2023. How many players in KK/Tipp/Wex/Lim/Clare would avail of that. 3 players from these regions should play for teams (at both Club & County level) in Monaghan/Louth/Cavan/Sligo. And vice versa for football
Soccer is seeking half a billion of taxpayers money to develop the game and its facilities. The GAA should be in ahead of them for similar type funding to develop hurling... and football for that matter. Tom Young
Paul. That process will we almost decided point blank to make any attempt to reclaim our ancient native language. Funny enough an immigrant, Sean Og O'Hailpin, arrived in this country at 12 years of age and did his Final University tre Gaelige.
Not really Paul, but by surrendering out Language we showed our 'Irishness,' really meant SFA to us. By contrast the Jews on returning to Israel revived a tongue that was dead. Another aspect of this is that we White Irish are simply not producing young people and in a few generations we will to a miserable three millions, without inward emigration. Now I do agree it those who alight at Airports without documentation they clearly initially presented to get on a flight should not be entertained, but are many foreign who also work and do jobs Irish People simply do not want to do.
@@peadarocoileain902 our country Eire is presently like a young woman being attacked at the side of a road by an invader, she calls out to her native race for help, but they stand witness and look on and walk on. When she is dead, God ushers in his judgement day, he calls up the witnesses to the death of Eire, and asks them why did you stand idly by and walk on? They reply " Ah shure we needed them for jobs we wouldn't do, Ah shure we forgot how to procreate, Ah shure we didn't mind paying taxes for their housing and social welfare, Ah shure we didn't mind paying the prison bills, ....Ah Shure.........Enough! God replied, he put his head in his hands and said "how did I create such a race of gobshites, they work for digits on their phones and parrot every government propoganda lie at every opportunity" .

One of the best conversations I have heard on the subject. Start up clubs need help, guidance, finances and backup from HQ.

As a hurling person from Derry City, hand on heart I have to say most of our obstacles have come from football men - gaa men. Sad to have to say that
Gaa more interested in promoting the game in Asia rather than longford, leitrim, Cavan ect. Wonder why that is
The top table that is the problem.
Who voted these people in. How come none of them are past players . It is all about money

He mentioned it at 19:55 for anyone wondering.
Interesting conversation between hurling men and gaa men
Out of interest, what is the total value of the funding cuts?
Nice one Lads
It's not the GAA it's the GFA - the Gaelic Football Association.
Playing in the middle of winter. And nothing in august or September. The players and coaches should decide

If the native Irish are being replaced in front of your eyes and you refuse to open them, what hope for native culture and games.
Spot on

Hurling has never been as good fast or as popular. Relax to jayus. There will always be bad stories
Football in Kilkenny is not supported. It's tolerated.
