    I blend them, dehydrate them, powder them, then I put the powder back on the trays with parchment paper layer on top and dehydrate them for another couple of hours. They come out really dry and powdery. I use Excalibur dehydrators.

    I haven't heard anyone say they would last 10 years. I would tend to believe that. Where did you find that out? I have my first dehydrated eggs (many full pint jars of them) from 2022. They look vibrant and perfect and dry two years later. My cheese is perfect looking and still has that perfect flow of falling into place when I turn the jar upside down and back again. All my dehydrated food including ground beef and chicken, look vibrant and perfect. Even the meat which I put breadcrumbs in still looks and tastes great. I even didn't extract all the fat from the ground beef, like I used to, and it has no rancidity. (A channel "Rain Country" or some name like that; she leaves a lot of fat in the meat and even does sausage and it works out fine. ) I'm so hopeful that this food is going to last a few years at least. I dread that day we must rely on it, but I am so glad I can let it sit there till we need it. 10+ years is what made me click on your video. It's just what I needed to hear.

    Next time try leveling out the dehydrator first and then doing the eggs and that way they'll go all the way around I won't be bunched up on one side

    I do this all the time. I especially like cooking my scrambled eggs first and then dehydrating them and finally pondering them. Makes perfect scrambled eggs every time. Also dehydrate raw eggs for baking like you did. Good way to preserve the eggs especially at these prices.

      I was thinking of dehydrating scrambled eggs so that my daughters who are very suspicious of my dehydrated food will still have the high protein from the cooked, dehydrated eggs. They refuse to prep for anything. And I can't stand by when the need becomes real and let them go down with no help (as best I can).

    I bought the silicone mats through your Amazon link. I used them much better than the fruit trays that come with dehydrator. No mess. Getting the eggs off the silicone kinda messy. I did 24 eggs. Got about a quart worth. I will probably do again. Not my favorite dehydrating project but necessary. Thanks so much for letting us know about the silicon

    The National Center for Home Food Preservation says:
    "Dairy and eggs are not recommended for home drying because of the high risk of food poisoning. Commercially dried milk and egg products are processed rapidly at temperatures high enough to prevent bacterial contamination. Home dryers cannot duplicate this process, and the safety of home-dried milk and egg products cannot be guaranteed."

      As long as you cook the reconstituted eggs you will prevent that problem. Just don't put them in a smoothie!

    • @PrimeDirective101
      @PrimeDirective101 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, cooking them will take away that risk. Or dehydrating scrambled eggs would also work. I'm going to do it both ways.

    • @lindasprepperkitchen
      @lindasprepperkitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I have already tried cooking it and they come out wonderful in recipes as well as scrambling. But I do want to give you a tip I have since tried scrambling the eggs in the pan first I had seen other people doing this the first time I did ask but I chose to go the other way But hindsight I would scramble them first don’t use any oil or sprays in the band it just makes it much easier chop them as fine as you can chop them while you’re scrambling now once they’re dried put them in your blender or whatever you’re using to powder them and bing bang boom

    I am going to do this with our eggs and run them through the dehydrator. I'm getting a new one next week and this one will have a thermostat on it. My current Presto is set one one temperature, 165°F.

    I have a question maybe a dumb question but I am wondering because she said she will b filling the jar up will she half to have it full all on same day or can she close it leave it on counter top and add when she can then when full then do the sealing of the jar

    • @lindasprepperkitchen
      @lindasprepperkitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Within a few days and I’ve had time to dehydrate enough eggs the jar is sealed In store long-term. I would not leave it out over an extended time trying to feel the jar it is something I would do pretty quickly so that moisture does not get back into the eggs.

    I wouldn't recommend dehydrating store bought eggs fresh eggs yes store bought no. There full of perservtives and other stuff. I dehydrate my fresh chicken eggs and freeze dry them. But I wouldn't ever do it with store bought eggs.

    • @scottanddebranelson8419
      @scottanddebranelson8419 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not everyone can get fresh eggs or maybe they are on food stamps and can't afford fresh eggs. you gotta work with what you can. in a perfect world we wouldn't have to stock up canned foods either but we all can't grow enough fruits and vegetables or raise salmon or beef cattle or any thing else for that matter and again some folks are on food stamps and/or social security, so one has to do what one has to do. you gotta try and do the best you can with what you got.

    • @venessaevans8674
      @venessaevans8674 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scottanddebranelson8419I realize that I was saying it's not a good idea to hydrate store bought eggs. People could get botulism from it. Because of all the perservtives and everything else in them. People need to do some research.

    • @scottanddebranelson8419
      @scottanddebranelson8419 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@venessaevans8674 what? even if it did contain botulism you'd know it from the smell but if not as long as you cook them correctly you'll be fine. i'm not sure the bacteria would last too long after being dehydrated. and just how and when did they start "injecting" anything into eggs. don't get me wrong i'm in no way of saying big ag makes anything that ethically (as in the use of antibodies and so on in their feed for animals) but i really don't think it would be that profitable to inject a bizillion eggs with anything. they do have some of what the hen has in her but i just don't believe nor have i heard anything of the sort when it comes to injecting eggs. and i go back to my original statement, not everyone can afford farm raised fresh eggs. or they may not have access to them. same goes for canned foods. so your point is still moot and does no one any good really.

    • @venessaevans8674
      @venessaevans8674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottanddebranelson8419 you cannot smell botulism or taste it and they inject the chickens which lay the eggs. And I was make a statement to warn people to do some research. And another you have to dehydrate eggs after they are powdered to make sure they are completely dry. I'm done talking about this because obviously you are not convenience so I'm not going to waste my breath.

    • @scottanddebranelson8419
      @scottanddebranelson8419 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@venessaevans8674 you are correct you can't smell or see botulism, but you really should READ comments before replying to them. i said if you cook the eggs it will kill any bacteria. and you first said they inject the EGGS. and i said things come from the hen to the eggs. next time READ what someone says.
      so again your statement did no one any good what so ever.
      and just how to you get powdered eggs without drying them first? you really need to step back and think before you actually start typing. if you want folks to actually learn something.
