I got to meet coach Osborne about 10 years ago when I randomly came across him out in public. He took a picture with me and chatted for a bit, super nice guy.
Prayers lifted for Coach Osborne. What a man of class, integrity & dedication to service. May his procedure be successful, followed by full recovery.🙏✝️
great interview. God Bless Tom Osborne. We have so much admiration for what he has done to enrich our lives by bringing pride and wins to the Husker Nation. I like his level headedness after another crushing loss. These are young men, and all of the negativity expressed on MOST podcasts, as frustrated fans deal with their "emotions", is a real downer. Of course, we are working to be better, and on the right track (in my opinion), sometimes things get away from you in life. If you find this to be the case, leave your emotions aside, a bit, and ask if we are on the right track. Don't turn on our fellas so much. Sometimes, life gives you lemons. You don't need to freak out so much. Of course, try harder, work, evaluate. But we have some progress, and some bad breaks. We have some really good guys and coaches. Don't turn on all of our coaches and players, so harshly. They want it. We are Husker Nation, we never quit. Don't quit if the path is a good one, not emotionally, rationally.
I'll start with this. I'm old. I remember the days of Bill Jennings. Bob Devaney came from Wyoming and transformed Nebraska into a national power. The Oklahoma/Nebraska game of 1971 was "the game of the century." Bob was the man. Coach Osborne built on that legacy, but Devaney was the builder, the creator, the man. Let's never forget that.
I’m from New Jersey…have been a Husker fan for the last 50+ years. Loved watching Husker football teams led by Coach Osborne. Was always impressed by the fact that his teams had a good percentage of academic All Americans and that he always had a positive spin no matter what happened. I wish him a full and speedy recovery. May God be with him. The answer to your two questions;: Yes and Yes.
Always great to hear from you, Coach Osborne. I appreciate that Adam invites you on the show periodically. I was an undergrad at NU when you underwent your multi-bypass surgery. Confident that you will pull through your upcoming procedure in flying colors. Congrats on your new book as well!.
Coach Osborne was an offensive genius who was seriously underrated as a play caller. Many people don’t realize how close his teams came to winning arguably 3-4 titles before he won his first title. Absolutely amazing! Prayers for a successful procedure and a speedy, coach! 🙏🙏🙏☠️☠️☠️🌽🎈
I am from New Jersey and have enjoyed following Husker football for the last 50+ years. I particularly enjoyed watching teams coached by Coach Osborne. His teams were well prepared on and off the field…impressed by the number of Academic All-Americans thsrt were on his teams. He certainly is a positive model for all coaches to follow. I wish him a full and speedy recovery. May God be with him. The answer to your two questions: Yes and Yes.
Tom thanks for being such a great man. I was really good friends with a guy that played monster back in the early 80's named Sammy Sims. He told me a story about Tom on his recruiting visit down in Lubbock that made him choose to pick Nebraska and it obviously worked out really good. I'll be praying for you! Go Big Red!
Excellent insights from Dr Tom, as always!! I appreciate his level headed perspective after an unfortunate loss at USC. Thank you Coach Osborne! Prayers for his continued good health. As for the two questions--I am always optimistic about the Huskers!!
Seeing this at 7:30 on Sunday. Great interview. Every time I get to listen to Coach Osborne “I get starry-eyed crossed legged on the floor”(Montgomery-Gentry reference, but true). I pray that his surgery goes well, he’s still got much he can give to our community. He’s such a great man of God and I pray for his family to be blessed. God Bless and GBR! And… throw the bones!
Much respect to coach Osborne and what he's done for us Husker fans. Pray all went well with your procedure today. God bless you and your family and you as well Adam. Questions: 1 - YES 2 - Yes. BOWL GAME COMING SOON! Keep the faith, even though it doesn't look good zt the moment.
Tom Osborne was the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1973 to 1997, and he won his first national championship in 1994, which means he coached for 21 years before achieving that title. All those armchair quarterbacks... You all need to mellow out. Matt is out man... Give him time.
in the full interview after the Miami win, Osborne said one of the regents approached him and told him if he had not won that game they were gonna fire him. I listened to it so don't tell me he didn't say it. And compare him to Switzer and the CO coach. They came nowhere near 21 yrs before getting their NC.
I wish you could have asked him if he used weighted averages in recruiting……And how blocking skills at different positions on offense were used in deciding the overall value of picking/ offering a scholarship to a particular player. When you look at what Indiana did against Nebraska, their assignment blocking /,execution was one of the major factors in how the Defense got manhandled.
Wide receivers need to have lubrication on the shoulder pad and sleeve areas for the rest of the season. Clearly USC was grabbing those areas of WR uniforms.
Good luck to Coach Osborne on his surgery and pray for a speedy recovery!! I don’t see us getting win #6 against Wisconsin or Iowa. I see Dana finding a better job, so he won’t be with us next year.
We'll always respect Dr Tom, but his presence at this point hampers husker nation. He doesn't help any coach win, actively stops the AD from raising funds. He has to be left behind if Nebraska wants to move forward
I'm gonna shut you down at the entrance. Osborne knows, has known and won't say the truth since he retired. It's the Jimmys and the Joes and we don't got em. That is all.
@RainbowManification Indiana doesn’t waste Millions and Millions of Dollars on a football program the way Nebraska does. Shut it down and give that money back to the University or most of it to the Volleyball team. At least they know how to win.
I appreciate Tom for being the best coach we've ever had, but we need to move on from thinking he is still relevant. He has held this state back financially for years because of his boomer attitude towards gambling and marijuana (news flash, people already do both of these things). It shouldn't have taken this long to get casinos in Nebraska. Thankfully marijiana finally passed, too. Tom was great, give him his roses. But continuing to look to him for answers just confirms that our fans are stuck in the past.
I’m sure you’ve done the cost analysis of all the medical and social impacts that come from the said legalization. No, compare that to the revenue from taxes, and if you look at other states, you lose . You’re non-boomer vision is shortsighted.. not your fault- it’s just your stuck in it developmental stage that lacks long-term vision

Coach is a great role model
Yeah I got his book in September when I had a small road trip to Lincoln on an off day. If your Husker fan it's definitely worth the time to read!
Totally agree!

Tom is someone that actually deserves 73m from nebraska not scott frost or matt rhule.

Tom is a giving man. He's given more than most and more than necessary. When he's in heaven, there's no NU godfather to look to. NO ONE.
I pray and hope TO heart procedure goes right and you recover 100 o/o from fan and My father all our lifes.

Especially in the late 80s and early 90s, many wanted Osbourne fired. We even got upset with coach O, so Rhule deserves to take the heat.
Tom also never had less then 9 wins
@@HuskerPower97 Tom also had the best teams money could buy.
@@RogerR-v9u and Nebraska has the money to buy the best players now

Wisconsin just fired there Offensive Coranator
The only coach I know that won and lost to Barry Switzer in the same season..

I'll say it! Nebraska is in their second era of bad head coaches. Looks like 1941-1961
Do you think certain penalties, such as pass interference or holding should be reviewable?
Hope coach Osborne doesn't throw the bones in the operating room.
We'll always respect Dr Tom, but his presence at this point hampers husker nation. He doesn't help any coach win, actively stops the AD from raising funds. He has to be left behind if Nebraska wants to move forward

Cignetti got lucky with a senior heavy class and transfers. guarantee you next year indiana will be a turd.
Shutdown the Football program and turn Memorial Stadium into a Museum because Nebraska Football is pretty much a relic at this point.
Could’ve told that to Indiana who hasn’t had a good football program since the 60s and look at where they are now
@RainbowManification Indiana doesn’t waste Millions and Millions of Dollars on a football program the way Nebraska does. Shut it down and give that money back to the University or most of it to the Volleyball team. At least they know how to win.
Osborne took advantage of the rules to gain a competitive advantage. There wasn't a moral or ethical line he wouldn't cross in pursuit of a win.
What exactly do you mean?
A phD but blew his legacy by not kicking Phillips off the team.
I think you mean that he was well prepared and strategic. Inventing things that were barely legal.
I appreciate Tom for being the best coach we've ever had, but we need to move on from thinking he is still relevant. That doesn't mean Adam can't interview him. Especially when they are talking football. But you will continue to be an entitled dimwit
And we're gonna find out that smoke, regardless of where it comes from, causes cancer. And here we go again with lung cancer costs skyrocketing.
I’m sure you’ve done the cost analysis of all the medical and social impacts that come from the said legalization.
