This is my favourite sims game. I was only 8 when it came out and my brother was 12 turning 13 and we bought it when it was new but it didn't work on our computer. We couldn't play it until 2011 and i became addicted to it then and played it religiously until 2020. I still play it today but I play Sims 4 more purely because it's easier to access but The Sims 3 is forever the best game in the entire series. I feel so privileged to say I grew up with this game and this was THE GAME of my life. I know the game so well, all the lore, the townies, etc. it's just so fun and so nostalgic to play especially in Sunset Valley which is what I almost always choose no matter how many expansion pack and store worlds I have (which is them all). Also in terms of customisation, you can change more about patterns than just the colour wheel, you can make patterns plain and have loads of different cool patterns and colours in the menu and the eyelashes are in the hair options, it's just a slider on the length. There's also a star sign you can choose, it's the last option and it's underneath the favourite colour and food button. if you need any tips, just ask :))
Oh! I'll have to explore the customisation more, and thank you so much 😊 The nostalgia is so important with such games, I know it from the first two sims games - and it's a bit of a shame, that I don't have it with sims 3. I got the base game Sims 4 too, but Sims 3 catch my attention more.
@@Reese-sim yep 3 is a much better option than 4. While 4 is still good, it's nothing compared to 3 and it's so boring with expansions. 3 is fun with or without expansions although it's better with some realism like seasons. I also remember that when I couldn't play Sims 3, I had to play 1 and I hated it at the time, it was too hard to play lol. You can customise almost anything in anyway and can have the wackiest patterns on just about anything although be wary because the game can be quite laggy sometimes so I do recommend the nraas master controller and nraas error trap mods but you likely won't need them until later on when you have more expansions. there's a video from simmatically on how to install mods to the sims 3 that's straight to the point, i can send you it if you need me to :)
Hey!! The lash customation is in the hair section, and you can customize the makeup comor how you want from the button above and right from the opacity slider :) It shows a palette at first but there is also an option for a whole color wheel !

7:00 You can change the colors better by going into the prests in Create a Style (the tiny boxes, and the drop-down menu) rather than just using the color wheel, which could've made an all-white headband much easier... 8:12 You could've also explored much more into the CAS sliders, there's literally a slider for everything (that is part of the face), that would've helped you in finding the eyelashes in 11:43... People say Sims4 is much more versatile, and while it's true in some aspects, what Sims3 has to offer is more than enough...
For first expansion pack I'd say choose between: Late Night, Seasons or Generations. (The last two add a lot to the main core gameplay of the game, I'd lean towards seasons tho). My personal guilty pleasure is World Adventures tho, just because that expansion pack is ridiculously big, the amount of lots/worlds/tombs is insane, but for a beginner might be a bit complicated. Also recommend the game guides that pop up in the top right corner from time to time!

World Adventures is the first EP, again I'm not sure I recommend that pack to a newer player tho as there so much to learn in that pack. But you could def do chronological! Ambitions is the 2nd pack and also just amazing. But yea, for just a regular player Id always recommend Seasons and Generations first as it fleshes out a lot of the existing gameplay.

Sims 3 has a lot of bugs because EA won't be bothered fixing it, the bugs could crash your game and corrupt your files so i highly recommend you to download nraas mods overwatch and errortrap, this will help your in game lag and make your gameplay smooth!

It's so cool seeing how quickly things load in cas when you play just base game lol. I started playing the sims 3 about 2/3 years ago and I had all the expansion packs and store content 🏴☠️ so I've never known any other way. I plan to play a lepacy where I play base game and each expansion pack individually
@Reese-sim no need to fret. If you have a good PC and get a couple of performance mods, such as nraas mods and lazy duchess' smoothness patch, things in CAS load pretty quickly, like sims 2 quickly, and your game will hardly ever lag. My laptop is pretty low end but I make do
Ifnyou bought the sims 3 on steam, wait for the holiday sales for major discounts, that's what me and my sisters did for around 3 years almost a decade ago to get all the packs

@@Reese-simTS3's graphics tend to be a bit heavy on shadowing, low lights and deep colours, so you may have to artificially increase the brightness and exposure during editing.
Actually to not have the recording be dark in the sims 3 you need to record the game in windowed mode! (Took me a while to find out as well lol) (Also lashes is under the eyebrow section in hair, and you can also use the color wheel for make up, just need to click on the brush in the right corner, in general the color wheel is available for almost everything, also the main hairstyle ;)) You can also add custom patterns to objects/clothing in the color wheel in the top right corner.

Actually to not have the recording be dark in the sims 3 you need to record the game in windowed mode! (Took me a while to find out as well lol) (Also lashes is under the eyebrow section in hair, and you can also use the color wheel for make up, just need to click on the brush in the right corner, in general the color wheel is available for almost everything, also the main hairstyle ;))
You can also add custom patterns to objects/clothing in the color wheel in the top right corner.
To think if they actually just kept on improving the Sims 2... we can dream 🥲
