The Great Pumpkin Waltz (from "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown")

"The Great Pumpkin Waltz" by Vince Guaraldi was written as incidental music for the animated Halloween television special It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966), the follow-up to the immensely popular A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965).The tune is first heard when Linus is witting a letter to the Great Pumpkin.
Given that this tune was made as background music for a Halloween special, probably the last place I would write for an underutilized instrument, it must needs be remarked that this composition is a rare Alto Flute feature, an uncommon instrument in most styles and genres, let alone Jazz!
