Great conversation to listen to. Cultural context and the timeline in which things actually occurred throughout the entirety of scripture has interested me for a long time. I have thus far not found a book or collection of books that lays it out succinctly. Any recommendations?
I left messianic Judaism in part because of the over-emphasis on Paul and his identity as a pharisee. The shul I was in abused Paul's writings in order to push the false teaching of unrecognized mediation and the words of Christ were largely ignored, especially where he's being critical of the pharisees. It's impossible to have a messianic movement if the messiah is an afterthought.
