Mercari is a Japanese owned platform. You can see the simplicity and straightforwardness as a consequence. It's definitely minimalist. As Asian things like this hardly escape our prying sense. Do try it. I just joined it recently and I am experiencing first hand what I learned in my research beforehand. I don't relish fussiness in online selling as I am over the hill in age and peace is always my goal. Mercari appears to deliver a no-fuss business model that works well with peace seekers who want some extra loose change in their pockets. But I yet to find out how profitable the revenue is of this platform moving forward. I will give it a couple of months. The key I'm sure for the platform is to garner a burgeoning volume of buyers as it's becoming saturated with sellers already in my observation. Poshmark, on the other hand, appears too proactive for folks like me who want a passive pace. So, for now, its Mercari.
As a buyer I prefer mercari it's simple straight forward and you're not dealing with additional taxes and shipping cost. Poshmark annoys me Especially the fact that you're constantly being tagged. For this reason I prefer mercari it appeals to me the most especially as you mentioned their straight forward approach.

My sale is far and in between. And I have at least almost two dozens items there. I would feel lucky if I sold more than one a week. Lots of folks tend to leave likes but they dont necessarily translate to sales. So its kind of a chess game. You just have to pay attention to your gut feeling about whether its time to press that promote button to bring the price down without using up your profit. LOL. Also be mindful that since you have to abide by the Mercari MO that requires you the seller to buy their shipping label because of the tracking numbers that it wants you to have compulsory for every sale. But my issue is that the shipping cost is pretty high obviously and so if you dont watch the price of your item while you keep pressing the promote button to lower it before you know you have little gain from your item after all your hassle of selling in the first place. The time and energy you spent as well listing managing and then shipping. Thats my feeling on this. If it does not have the requirement to produce a tracking number I believe I can improve on some of my items' profit. 2. Which is why I also sell on ebay. Just started too. They have a better offering on shipping cost if you buy the label from them. They have established a partnership with USPS for reduction in shipping cost on most items. There's more flexibility in ebay as well as their technical help is yes very human. LOL. And quite helpful on the phone. I sell some items on both, it just depends as to what I believe is appropriate for the buying culture at each. Once my item sells on one I just delete it ASAP on the other. 3. The key is ship your item wiithin 24 hours after the sale and rarely if at all over 48 hours. Buyers like that. if you care about your rating and reviews especially with Mercari. It does not complete your sale until after you are rated by the buyer. Ebay pays you up front after the sales less their commission and less the shipping label you bought from them using Paypal. Tracking is optional. Hope this helps you. Im a newbie too but Im pedantic with details like an objective observer myself. So please dont hesitate to ask if you need more clarification. Were both jusr small fish in the ocean and still has a ton to learn from this great adventure.
Yeah poshmark sucks for me. I sold like 15 items on mercari and have made over $200 in ONE WEEK on Mercari. Poshmark I’ve made about $90 in a month and nothing ever sells...

The next day I sold a Chloe at full ask that sat on Poshmark for months. Some things have changed since you posted this. Mercari did not work for me. Shipping cost is so high, at least from where I'm selling from. I found out in some states shipping is around 4 dollar and some cents, Georgia is 9 dollar and some cents!!! So I decided to cancel my account with them. It wasn't worth my time, at least in Poshmark it's a flat rate, almost 7 dollars but at the end people want to save some money, that's why they look in this platform's. I'm not sure which one is better and will never know just because the shipping cost!!!
I can't sell anything on Poshmark! Because of that, I decided to sell on Mercari also, and then on that same day I signed up, I already got a sale! My takeaway is that Mercari might be better suited for the casual seller just trying to sell a few things, and Poshmark might have better customer service and protections for folks trying to make online selling a profitable business.
I too am new to Mercari but am already suspicious. I was told I would receive any item of my choice for listing 4 items and that was Feb 25th (approximately) and when I try to ask why I have not received my free gift thy just say we will let you know when it ships. I looked up seller and there is nothing much on their page. Could Mercari be using fake addresses to shop randomly and not pay for the items? Could they be listing promotional items from a fictitious page to induce participation? I want to hang around maybe another month or so to see what I can see!

My phone tells me I have a sale on Mercari and to print a shipping label and I need to sign in. It will not recogize my Google sign in. I cannot print from my phone anyway. I go to my laptop. My Mercari account on my laptop does not show a sale no matter where I look. I cannot fulfill the sale. I don't want to waste any more time on Mercari since this is the 2nd time I have not been able to find support, so how do I cancel the sale and delete my 20 listings and close my Mercari account?
You don’t. Red to share profiles on Poshmark. You need to share the items in their party. Poshmark doesn’t use “flat” rate mailing. I think you meant that the postage is always the same up to 5 lbs bid to say they have flat rate can confuse people since there are boxes that say “flat rate” and the price is very different and you cannot use a Poshmark label on a flat rate box. Poshmark uses “priority” shipping. Also you stated that you can get a one star or five star. You can gat a rating from one star to five stars. So they can give a 1,2,3,4,5 star rating. I assume that is what you meant but the way you said it can be confusing to people that are new to the reseller platforms so just be careful of your wording. This was a very informative video for people that are looking for a comparison between the two different platforms. Please don’t take my comments as bad criticism because that is not my intent. I just want you to be more mindful of exactly what you’re saying because people really take this information to heart. Thanks for making this video

Do you choose what to list where based on style or do you stick with Mercari for non-clothes and Poshmark for clothes? Just curious. I've been doing some cross posted between m and Ebay and some cross posted between p and Ebay... just to see where the best traffic is and what does better where... but trying to come up with one good strategy and stick with it. You cancel the item that was purchased 2nd and quiet frankly I would cancel the item that has the least profit. Also make sure you write cross posted it means it's posted on other platforms to avoid customers being upset.
Hello and thank you for the video. I have a question regarding Mercari. I am trying to delete my account and while doing so I received a message that stated "Error Unable to delete your account as you have completed transactions that are less than 2 weeks old or where the latest messages are less than 2 weeks old" and ask you to click OK as in you are in some type of agreement to the lie. Well the problem with that is I have no transactions that are less than two weeks old or any latest messages less than two weeks old. They are blocking me from closing my account for no reason. I have tried to send an email but can not find any way to send an email to complete the process. I did hear you say to go to the contact center which is problem the same as the "help center" then my purchases however no way in there. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

For Mercari, do you have to use your own residential address on the return label? What if the transac doesn't go well and the seller's a little... well you get the picture. Thanks.
Vickie Kellebrew I don't post everything on both apps since each app has different audiences. However, neither app punishes you for cancelling the sale if you have to. I've never had to cancel a sale on the same item, but if I had to I would cancel the person who purchased second.
norma garcia you can but you would have to create a separate listing for the buyer with the final price. Unfortunately, that's the only way it would work. I'll be so happy if they ever feature a bundling option.
So, when you ship out an item the buyer purchased let's say.. for 40.00 plus 4.99 shipping.. they get the package but don't review ur iteam but keep the iteam.. what happens then? you get the $40 bucks plus the 4.99 shipping back? or just the price the buyer bought? confused..
You receive whatever percentage is paid after fees. Each platform has their own fee. Once 72 hours has passed after the item has been delivered, the funds are automatically released from either platform. The buyers technically don't have to review you for you to get paid.

Valerie Beeching hello, I’ve been selling on mercari and I’ve made over $200 so far. The shipping is super straight forward. You don’t need a scale I don’t even have one. It gives you a couple options. Small packages $4 medium $7 and large is $9 (for usps). They also have a FedEx option where small is $3.80 medium is $5 and large is $7. They do it by 0-1 pounds. Or 1-3 pounds. I don’t know if I explained it well. Though I say go ahead and give it a try the only bad part is low offers that some people give.

Iona Wilson sometimes people ask with an intention to purchase or make an offer later. A few times they could have the same item for cheaper elsewhere and just won't tell you. I normally let those conversations go. If they are interested in purchasing, they'll come back. If they liked your listing, chances are they will be waiting for a price drop.

Thrifty Bird I just joined Mercari 3 days ago. No sales but over the past 3 days had two people to message me as if they were interested in an item to buy. I immediately messaged back. But none of them never responded🤔. Do you have any idea 💡 why?
Iona Wilson sometimes people ask with an intention to purchase or make an offer later. A few times they could have the same item for cheaper elsewhere and just won't tell you. I normally let those conversations go. If they are interested in purchasing, they'll come back. If they liked your listing, chances are they will be waiting for a price drop.
