I personally prefer the Ice Rod to the Magic Quiver. It's super irritating to be running after a ghost or something, trying to hit it with my sword, while the quiver knocks it back while only doing a bit of damage lol. Whereas the Ice Rod just freezes enemies in place so I can deal with them when I want to. But yeah that's just my opinion :) Great video!!
i just achieved perfection on my first save, and i used the magic hair gel for fun after a good skull cavern run, but otherwise used the fairy a bunch because it made any mines runs 100x easier, i agree with the tier list though well done.
I think the Golden Spur is getting heavily underrated here, which is understandable, since it's the only trinket that needs to be built around, instead of just setting and forgetting. Speed is the most important stat when running Skull Cavern, less time spent walking = more time spent going down floors and getting iridium. It's why Spicy Eel is better than Lucky Lunch, having +2 speed is a lot better than +1 from only Coffee. Stacking speed is incredible, so being able to get to +3 Speed is incredibly strong, and it gets even better. Combine it with a Savage Ring for +2 Speed on kill (which a critical hit should do if you build it right) and you'll be at +5 Speed when you crit. Combine that with a Napalm Ring to make enemies explode on kill, and now you'll also be mining at the same time, combined with the +5 Speed, this'll make the Skull Cavern a breeze. 1.6 also silently buffed crit builds, by adding innate enchantments, which can be applied to every weapon except Galaxy and Infinity weapons, and can be rerolled at the forge for one Dragon Tooth. The crit chance innate enchantment should be ignored, since it only applies a 6% MULTIPLICATIVE increase in crit chance, so if you have a 50% chance to crit, it will make it 53%, not worth it, but the crit power innate enchantment is absolutely incredible. It caps at 75, which equals a 2.5x multiplier to crit damage, and, for some reason, this is applied separately from the regular crit power. This means that if you put it on, for example, the Iridium Needle, which has 200 base crit power, or a 7x crit modifier(3 base+200/50), instead of making it 275 crit power, or an 8.5x multiplier, it first multiplies by 7, and then multiplies by 2.5(1 base+75/50) and multiply those two together, and you get a 17.5x multiplier on crit, 35x with Desperado. Now, just like you, I hate using daggers, so I made a different weapon build that still works with this. Using the Dragontooth Saber, apply the max crit power innate enchantment for a (3+50/50)*(1+75/50)*2=20x damage modifier, plenty enough to one shot most enemies. Forge three Aquamarines and with the Scout profession, you'll have a 23.7% crit chance, 38.7% with the crit blessing, and +2.5% for every luck buff. This should be enough to make critical consistent enough to rely on, and will do wonders in the Skull Cavern. Sorry for the essay, but I just had to defend my favorite trinket of the patch. I hate to see it underrated.

My only struggle was a level 5 fairy box but I eventually got it. The fairy box with a full defense build makes you invincible until the challenge modes
I think the frog egg was the first trinket I found and was pretty much the only one I used until I found a level 4 parrot and realized how much money it could make (I’m on my way to the golden clock). I actually watched this video while doing a dangerous mines run to get some cash. I’ve used the ice rod a few times and the fairy box was useful for Mr Qi’s no-food skull cavern challenge. The frog still has my heart though.
I think the Basilisk Paw is underrated. There are a lot of status effects that you might not normally think about but weaken your character and might cause you to take a burst of damage when you weren't expecting it. I got the magic quiver first, and while I liked it at first, it was annoying how it knocks back enemies. I tried out the Basilisk Paw and was surprised how much I liked it and how much easier it made the dangerous versions of the mines/skull cavern. It doesn't stand out in an obvious way, but its effect is very good. I've been running it as my go to trinket. I just don't find money to be the bottleneck at that point in the game, so I would personally rate the parrot much lower. I really need to play around with the Ice Rod. I dismissed it at first, but it seems really strong on reflection. It seems like it would be especially good with the hammer special attack. I have a feeling it might be S tier. The rest of the list seems pretty good. The Void Frog is F tier, as that jerk refuses to come to me. I've spent hundreds of Iridium re-rolling the egg, gotten multiple of every other type, including multiple prismatic frogs, but never once has the void frog appeared.
I forged my galaxy sword to Crusader so if my Magic Quiver shots ghosts that I want to slay, I just change it with parrot to get more coins! I use Magic Quiver with all my combats and when I want to do chill game I just use my parrot egg. Ice Rod is fine but in skull cavern the thing we are fighting with is not monsters, we are against time. It's such a hassle to kill everything and time waste. My Magic Quiver is killing monsters for me while I collect more than 500 iridiums and 50radioactive ores. Triple shot and spicy eel will give you ekstra boost combined so thats more than enough... And in general fairy and parrot looks so cute! I just love how parrot sits on my head (I discovered it while fishing)

But im playing a Dagger Crit build with iridium needle, +75crit power innate enchantment, artful enchantment, +3 aquamarin enchantments, deperado and most importantly, abigails ponchette as a skin :3 you basically kill everything with one special that happens to get hit by the frozen orb. It can be annoying to kill lava lurkers or crabs in the mines, if you have an ice rod that freezes longer than the charge up (like the perfect ice rod). Still love it tho
Fairy is the most “useful”, parrot makes combat a valid money making venture, golden spur is the best for a deep dive or a speed run, and hair gel is cool (if useless). Basilisk is probably good for dangerous mines if you don’t have ginger on you, but the magic quiver, the ice rod and the frog all do things I actively don’t want done - I’d rather have no trinket than any of them lol. The frog going in a fish tank is good though - I didn’t know that and will now by a lot happier when I find them 🥰 Thanks!

I agree with some on the list but I think the goblin hand is amazing. Its not like I dont have enough access to things that can max my health so goblin hand is great for when you need to collect slime from the hutch, you arent wasting time in skull cavern with the speed debuff, the ghosts in the late game caves SUCK so it just saves soooo much time
If you want to try out a build for crit daggers that is fun first you need the weapon: iridium needle put artful and add crit chance in the forge. You also need the level 10 combat skill acrobat so you can spam heavy attacks.
I booted up 1.6 the first time on switch and got a perfect ice rod as my first trinket so they were all irrelevant after. Permenant freeze on any enemy. Busted af
i got the freeze ray first .. it was great .. then i got the magic quiver ... it was greater! Then ... everything else looks like garbage ... no parrot yet ... no basiikix paw ...

I make roughly 2 million a day off aged legend roe. 250 is peasant stuff. But i bet this trinket is not bad if you make less than 100k a day
