Awesome! Another tip i think is patience! Knowing when to pull and knowing when to wait! It seems a bit more important for knowing drying time and not being in a hurry. Great video and am thankful for all the tips and tricks as well as the encouragement. TFS. ❤❤❤
I love your videos! Your voice is just the COOLEST. And…..I love that you look into the camera. It’s fun to see the excitement and passion in your eyes. Your eyes also show you are genuine. Excellent detailed verbal directions along with the process. Thanks for being you!
I just tried the image transfer method. Real crazy image transfer for me. Castle dark edges showed up with doors edges. I love it. Second print to get rest black off I used yellow. My favorite print. Looked water color , a bit fuzzy hazy. To bring color to first, used the yellow again which brought out the line structure. I'm surprised it worked first time. Second try no work for me. Must have been too light of images, or not enough black. But again used yellow to pick up black. Real nice papers for backgrounds. Thanks for great videos. Take care. And if you are careful, you can wash off alot of the black from your image and keep it for another project. Not perfect, but still visible to be abstract.
Brilliant! A great encouragement to new users and a reminder to experienced users of the versatility of the gel print medium. Putting a colored texture and then opacity on the back of an image transfer really stretched the limits and challenges users to reconsider what is possible. Brilliant, just brilliant, Ceri!
To follow on, I went into the studio armed with the information you so generously shared in this video. I had a pile of dollar store gift wrap which I cut to size and had at it. I pulled backgrounds, stencils, ghost prints image transfers and back-side coloring and many combinations there of. Over 40 prints pulled before I lost track, not a single tear because of all of your insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the tissue. I now have a valuable stack of prints that i know will melt into the substrate when used in collage. Thank you, Ceri!
Ceri: excellent video. I’ve stayed away from this type of art work for several reasons. However, after seeing this, I might give it a try. Thank you. Carol from California
Good afternoon dear Ceri, sitting and watching while on holiday. So much info, thank you so much for demonstrating and for all the tips and tricks! Have a blessed evening, big hugs to you. ❤❤
Thank you, Ceri! In the past, I fantasized about an Aladdin's cave filled with gold, jewels and other treasures, but, since I have started watching videos on gel printing, the treasure trove has morphed into art supplies, with wet strength tissue featuring prominently. Alas, wet strength tissue must be ordered over the internet (which I do not like to do) and is a bit much for my budget. Gift wrap tissue I can obtain. So, thank you for this video!😊
I really love the fact that you have consideration for those who have a lower budget than others. Thanks a lot for all those tips on mastering the gift wrap tissue paper... I'll try again and again as long as I can get it to work
This demonstration is excellent, Ceri. You even almost proved a rule with your penultimate print (I can't believe you got away with that!). This is such a good video that it deserves to be in an "essential lessons for gel plate users" playlist.
Thank you for showing us this process. You've given me a little more confidence to experiment. And to try some image transfers, and stencils and not be discouraged if at first I don't succeed, try something else. (LOL) Thanks, Ceri, I love your videos. You are extremely helpful. I have been experimenting with stamping on plain tissue and have been successful, now I can create a background and then stamp over top, once the tissue is dry. Thanks so much
Ceri, you have opened up a whole new universe for me with regards to the gelli plate! I had never heard of them or seen one before I started watching your channel. I participated in your July challenge, but only made it to day 20 before life intervened and I had surgery, etc. I intend to keep going though. As always, thank you for your wisdom and inspiration! ❤
As always, another excellent FYI video! Thank you again for all the time you put into creating and posting your video contents so others can understand, learn and hopefully enjoy the process as much as you do❣️😊
Excellent! I really enjoyed the introduction with you looking at the camera too. It's a great way to introduce the technique. I. really enjoyed the refresher on using gift wrap. tissue. I need to just sit back and have fun more often.
Ceri, this was an excellent tutorial. Somehow, it always looks easy when you do it! I have recently purchased some of you stamps at P.M. Artist Studio and can't wait to try.
A most wonderful demo/tutorial and I'm sure lots of arty friends will be feeling more confident in going forward on their gel printing journey. Thank you dear heart xxxx
I have only ever used gift wrap tissue because I didn't have wet strength until recently (which I haven't used yet. I have also used napkin backs which are even more tricky and fragile. Some you win, some you don't. That seems to be the way with gel printing whatever paper, paint or technique you are using. But then you get those wonderful moments of serendipity and that makes it all worth while. But I always end up with lots of collage material every bit of which gets used for all sorts of purposes. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. xoxo
Great tutorial! Even after watching all of the prep videos for gely post card I was missing "something". Hopefully my next attempts will be more successful. Thank you!
Great video - completely explained some of the issues I've had with gift wrap tissue! I've checked my tissue stash and it seems I also have some wet strength, so can't wait to try that aswell!
This is one to save ,share and watch while practicing. This video is rated: 2 thumbs up 0 Rotten Tomatoes (as in the online movie ranking.) Big thank you for your knowledge and time. 😊
Just last night I was thinking about how I could work with tissue paper, as my standard paper is too thick for some collage work! Thank you so much for the video and the great timing! I'm already looking forward to trying it out.
Thanks for this very informative video, Ceri; much appreciated! I also have a request. I've been watching you for years but I'm not much of a commenter (please forgive!). I don't know if this has been brought up, but I would love to see more projects by you using gell prints. I've really enjoyed your projects in the past but it's been quite some time since I've seen any. Could you do more videos on the topic? Maybe including the creation of the gel prints you plan to use in the project(s)? That is, for bless you've already planned out the rest of the year of course 😊. Either way, I'll continue enjoying your videos (and all the prep and planning that goes into them). Thank you for being you (and sharing your creativity via TH-cam). ❤
Well!!! at his was just excellent! Thankyou, I’m a newbie and I did your challenge and enjoyed it immensely. I’m going to try to put my postcards into some display. I really love tissue work as the paints are amazing on that medium so this is just so very helpful. I haven’t managed an image transfer yet well not a successful one so I will try to do that. I have a question on the tissue. I have used Matt gel medium to stick tissue to card / paper. Is this the best medium? Thanks once again Thumbs 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
Very interesting video and I been watching a lot of your videos as of late. I have a gel plate 12x 12 but I haven’t got the courage to give a try yet but I will. Question for you what type of magazine do you buy because I also like when you use them in your collage book. You are an artist and do beautiful work! Have a great day and looking forward to the next video.❤️
Thank you, I normally buy fashion or home deco magazines because sometimes they have a special deal if buy one then another in included. Also my friends save me their magazines. I prefer high quality magazines like Vogue or national geographic if I can find them but I rarely buy those new. I also get all of the free magazines and leaflets I find at grocery stores and events.
Ceri, please help. I only recently started with gel pressing, and my first few attempts were great. But I had a disaster session where every piece of paper stuck hard to the plate and was a total nightmare to get off. I tried different kinds of paper, and didn’t leave anything on for a long time. What could I be doing wrong? 🙏🏼
Sally that’s a hard one, it could be the paper you used wasn’t strong enough to pull the paint you’d put on the plate but then there could be several reasons. If things were going okay before that one day maybe it was just a bad day, we all have them. If it happens again maybe it’s time to clean and condition your gel plate.
I’ve been told you should never put a photo onto your gel plate as it will stick, also a photo is created in a different way, the image needs to be laser printed as the toner is what makes image transfer work.
10 min in and im just so thrilled with how much I've learned! Thank you for taking the time to make this video and sharing with us!
Glad it was helpful
Such an inspirational video. Thank you so much. 😀❤
The best video on ”how to” on a gel plate I’ve seen in a very, very long time! Thank you so much Ceri!
Glad it was helpful

Yes. The thinner the paper, the less time on the plate
I love watching you Geli-Plate, it’s magic!

Hello from Beautiful ❤British Columbia ❤Canada 🇨🇦
You have inspired me to have a go but what is that plate with the black dots your gel plate is on
It’s a piece of acrylic or some call it plexiglass, the dark dots are just rubber feet that stop it sliding around when I’m using my brayer.
❤❤❤

I have a question on the tissue. I have used Matt gel medium to stick tissue to card / paper. Is this the best medium? Thanks once again
Thumbs 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
I use many glues to attach tissue from glue stick to Matt gel medium, I find the wetter the glue the more delicate the tissue is.

Wet strength tissue didn’t exist when I started using a gel plate. I have used everything from deli paper to drop cloth canvas. It all works!
I agree, for years I just used gift wrap.
Hi Ceri
Where did you get the acrylic block that is behind your gelli plate.
I just searched eBay for acrylic sheets or panel
Ceri, please help. I only recently started with gel pressing, and my first few attempts were great. But I had a disaster session where every piece of paper stuck hard to the plate and was a total nightmare to get off. I tried different kinds of paper, and didn’t leave anything on for a long time. Is that magazine a glossy one?
Yes.
Do you ever use deli paper on your gel plate?
I’ve not been able to get deli paper but I expect it would be similar to greaseproof paper.
I love tissue...peovlem is i need to ogranize like crazy...i now look like one of those hoarding shows...
