After your adventures in The Grizzly Hills, you are led to Zul'Drak, home of insane trolls that tried of their best ability to fight back the scourge that were invading their home. After all the beautiful trees and grass are suddenly replaced with snow, you feel a chill down your spine after looking at your surroundings. The smell of the dead fills your lungs and you instantly feel repulsed. You prepare to see the true horror of the Scourge.
When you learn that the trolls were so desperate they consumed their own gods just to have a chance at pushing back the undead swarm and still failed. Very depressing zone.
Never was a fan of the whole Troll Aesthetic, but god damn this zone was one of my all time favorites in Wrath. The music alone is incredible, and the aesthetic of Zul'Drak reeled me in like a fish that got caught on a line.
This zone definitely had a lot of character. And the troll architecture is cool. It was so fun seeing Korak the Bloodrager during the Crucible of Carnage. It actually did bring back memories of really old Alterac Valley (yeah, I was there). Course it was hard finding groups for that place on alts after the launch died down. Even then it was impossible to find a group for that group quest at the very end of all the troll questlines when you get help from the snow leopard loa. Thank god I was able to get through it by the skin of my teeth by myself, including the times I did this on alts. And for all the times I did the "Pa'troll" dailies getting in under 20 minutes down pat, I never did get that badge. And I remember spending part of an afternoon getting the Gun'drak Hatchling mini-pet. Got it, about 12 Arctic Furs and killed that Bone Spider rare spawn.
Kind of fitting this place is about the plague, I would always happen to catch a common cold while levelling through this area. Whenever I recall that place I remember sickness and plague XD
man i remember back when i leveled my fist character in wotlk, i remember especially doing all the troll god quests in zul'drak, i quested through this zone in one night and i had to go to school when i was in the resting point, thats surrounded by trees and such, i had the most fun playing a video game in wotlk, it was just so worth to invest that time in wow damn
Ich bereue es manchmal ein wenig meine ganze Jugend da reininvestiert zu haben ... , und dann höre ich mir den Soundtrack an und erinnere mich, wie gut es doch war :)
The zone itself is the best from WotLK, but Gundrak is very disappointing after this great zone. Gundrak is just too short and dull. I expected something more. On the other hand, Drak'tharon Keep is epic indeed.
My favorite zone in the game: Zul'Drak My 2 favorite instances of all time: Drak'Tharon Keep and Gundrak This is the perfect map, perfect instances... just love the zone
@jungleluke The music in this zone makes you watch your back, not only for the ice trolls, but also for the local wildlife,as well as the scourge egions who slowly encroach on your posistion, not to mention Thyrm
I enjoyed the first tier of this zone, for that awesome quest chain from Grizzly Hills where you helped that Troll, Drakuru, take over Drak'Tharon Keep and continuing through this zone to then bring him down... one of my favourite set of quests... Loved it... Rest of the zone was a bit of a bore though :P
Never was fond of the aesthetic of the zone. Leveled through again recently and was just zoning out to this music while putting in the effort to follow the story of the quests, actually love this zone so much now. So grim and brutal and complex with the different tribes and scourge and horde/alliance/argent crusade
Great storyline in Zul'Drak. This zone is really under appreciated.
Darkest and grittiest zone of WotLK. The tribal music, deranged trolls, twisted scourge. So underappreciated
It was very athmospheric imo... All that gloomyness
This is where I first truly learned to appreciate the scourge and their obscene war techniques.

Insane? Desperate times breed desperate measures... mon.

Using this for a description for my DnD campaign based in the World of Azeroth
Does anybody remember the thunder giant quest where you'd run around and stomp on all the scourge and toss them around...
good times mon , good times
Yeah, I remember. :) I hated that zone, it was dark and boring, but that particular quest was really fun.
@@Wowmusicable no u are boring
such a fucking abandoned and forgotten zone
When you learn that the trolls were so desperate they consumed their own gods just to have a chance at pushing back the undead swarm and still failed. Very depressing zone.
I always wanted to understand why this area has such a completely sad theme, and then reading your comment, my mind was blown.
My favorite quest line of all is here - love the whole story of how the trolls doomed themselves. This music is so evocative and reminiscent of that.
Never was a fan of the whole Troll Aesthetic, but god damn this zone was one of my all time favorites in Wrath. The music alone is incredible, and the aesthetic of Zul'Drak reeled me in like a fish that got caught on a line.
this soundtrack gives me the chill of frozen continent, with dark magic buried deep. long time ago....
I was farming Cobalt deposit only for the music.

I have not played WoW in three years, but every so often I like to cue up some of the music; and this zone was a favorite for sure.
i quit over a year ago, and I still love this place. I did every quest here :')
Kind of fitting this place is about the plague, I would always happen to catch a common cold while levelling through this area. Whenever I recall that place I remember sickness and plague XD
Probably my favorite WotLK zone, trolls are the best race.

"I Didn't Need Ya Mon, I will destroy Zul'Drak without ya!!!" Drakuru
Best zone in the game and houses my favorite dungeon of all time Gundrak.
For me it's Drak'Tharen Keep.

Zul'Drak is really a unique Jewel of WoW
Prince Arthas when arrived in Northrend = "Ice Trolls"

The "Never mess up with the troll gods" zone.
My favorite zone in the game: Zul'Drak
My 2 favorite instances of all time: Drak'Tharon Keep and Gundrak
This is the perfect map, perfect instances... just love the zone

Fiend Matador Slayer of a Thousand Noobs Thyrm was hell.
