He shared a room with Jin for some years and they put up a barrier between them so that they could have privacy. Jin is also an introvert and understands SUGA. Yoongi actually loves affection and attention, it just has to be in the right time and my guess also is that he doesn't quite know how to ask for it sometimes or react when he gets it. Especially in the past. I think he opened up a lot over the years. Also, this is just my guess, but his chronic pain from the shoulder injury might have been a factor in why he used to be quiet and tired a lot in the past, because at least from what I've noticed, he seems to be a lot more active and enthusiastic about things these days (relatively to his past self anyway). Obviously, it could just be a normal personality shift, but I know from experience how exhausting chronic pain is and it can drain you a lot to the point where it puts a bit of a damper even on activities you would normally enjoy a lot more.
