I would like to add upon what you said In the video, vulnerabilities still exist, this means exploiting the browser escaping the sandbox and escalating to the kernel is still possible, but the chromeos is more secure since it has way less attack surface than average os! Great video though, thanks!
So y'all I'm new to all this..do I need protection for my Chromebook or no...if so which is best....I have webroot for my Surface pro... maybe I can add my Chromebook
tbh I like the chromebook but think google should do a better job of educating its users because non-tech savvy users might just assume they're free from any attacks such as malicious apps or extensions and will let their guard down
because of the sandbox features are chromebooks the most secure internet devices? if connected to an open network is it possible for somebody to script their way onto the device? if the chromebook is only used for web browsing, and is powerwashed and updated constantly how can the chromebook be hacked through open networks?
I would like something like this, but without the Google ecosystem and with sandbox isolation and open source apps. it wouldn't be a silver bullet solution but it'd be cool
The point about privacy isn't really specific to Google though and I don't see any more reason to trust Apple or Microsoft over them since they will have to abide by the same legal subpoenas and the OS is not open so you just have to take their word on whatever they claim
Just be careful what extensions and app. You install on your chrombook. And type your personal information. It's the same rule for phone. Other than that you can go full ballistic. Just remember to turn of your chrombook.
For the android virtual machine, yes. And only half are supported. Don’t expect this to last any longer due to the current antitrust crackdown going on with big tech.
I literally got a chromebook ad before this video
Excellent, as always!! Thank you Grant!

and Chrome has a loooot of zero days. Not like that really matters though, as chromebooks aren't very popular hacking targets

That's exactly what I think!

So basically I can’t download any software from internet but only from the store?? Isn’t it limited in term of what I may need?
It absolutely is! It's good for people who want to browse the Internet.
Linux apps can be run in a container.

lol Because with google, the computer has MALWARE, not viruses. And now you know...
For sure!
which university is good for masters in cyber security in USA
There is many. Take a look here www.cyberdegrees.org/listings/masters-degrees/
Shouldve pressed more info and then run anyways
Off camera I did, Windows Defender still was blocking the executable, even when it was turned off.
@@collinsinfosec ooooh. I need that to happen on my grandmas computer 🤣
No thanks, Google already has too much power. But great video.
