It seems that AI Port gives smart detections to cameras without this feature, including 3rd party via ONVIF. The AI Key works with cameras that support smart detections (including those connected via AI Port) and enhances their capabilities.
So you can daisy chain AI port to AI key? Interesting so I can G4 instant to AI port to AI key and just get all the features but it seems like it works better with a camera that already supports and I detections?@@_intrepid
Think if it as the AI Port handling detection in real time vs the AI Key processing events after the fact. Things are queued for the AI Key to process.
It's quite a different product to the AI Port though. The AI Port adds real time AI to cameras that previously did not have it. The AI Key works on prerecorded footage from existing smart AI cameras by processing the footage to allow real time searches using natural language etc etc etc. Not saying it isn't cool, but it is a different beast to the AI Port. It's definitely something that will be great in a commercial environment, though it is a bit pricey for a small business or home office situation. Like I said, it is cool and great for commercial or medium to large businesses. Even better that it is scalable, as in multiple AI Key's being able to be connected together to add the extra edge computing power to work with larger environments
Thank you for the video. Do you have any information on upcoming features? I’d be particularly interested in seeing personal protective equipment (PPE) integrated into recognition capabilities. 🤠
I have 6 ai ports and just bought an ai key. Really curious to see how they work together or not? My site definitely has a ton of events all day everyday so probably will have to get more keys but going to test one for now.
I have a specific issue with a local criminal that goes door to door in the middle of the night and robs peoples' cars... If I could use this to automate and alert me when key patterns occur that would be incredibly useful.
any ideas about future plans for 'specific' facial recognition to be able to trigger notifications or not trigger a notification? I could see this feature being difficult to do well but extremely helpful
I'm a little confused as this device claims to bring AI (smart detection) features to non-AI G4/G5 cameras, but on the other hand some of its features only apparently work with native AI devices. So, for example, if I have a G4 Pro doorbell, is that now going to get number plate smart recognition *and* be able to process AI events linked to that recognition?
I've been trying to get this information out of almost every person who has reviewed the AI Key in recent days. I have ALL G5 cameras. I bought the several AI Ports to "ADD" advanced AI detection features to my NON-AI cameras. But it seems, this is what the AI Key does as well, just not in real-time. All the G5 Cameras HAVE AI Event detections, so they will be processed by the AI Key. And it seems the AI Key does ADD advanced AI features to these detections. Of the people who answered me, they seem evasive in confirming my suspicions (that in my particular case, I really don't need the AI Ports). I wouldn't be shocked if I learn that Ubiquiti told these reviewers not to answer this question directly.
I find the description of the surroundings quite odd as the owner of the camera should already know what corridor or white walls he installed the cameras on. AI Port ftw
You might be able to explain to them the difference between local and cloud ai. Yes these are “AI” detections but it’s done entirely on device, no sending video streams off site
The description of the scene was at the quality level that made me concerned it was processing images on cloud ai services - Can you confirm that all processing is done locally?
Hey, I can't quite pinpoint it but something strange is going on with the audio here, almost like noice cancelling done wrong, it feels wavy, like volume is dipping drastically at the tail end of each word. Also this AI key is wild, very excited to get it deployed (once Canada is back in stock)
“What types of cameras are compatible with AI Key? AI Key pairs with all Protect cameras that support smart detections, including: G4 Series G5 Series AI Series Cameras connected via AI Port” Maybe ONVIF in a future software update?
So, does this new box render the AI line of Ubiquiti’s cameras unnecessary (unless you need to take advantage of the AI camera’s ability to render speech-to-text)?
@@Zach_Millerso how do I interpret his statement that the new AI key “does up to 1,000 detection events per hour?” I initially interpreted this statement that the AI Key box was off-loading this processing from the camera (I.e., giving a non-AI enabled camera the ability to generate AI detections), but you appear to be interpreting it to mean “manage” these detection events. Correct?
@@Zach_MillerI just started watching InsideWire’s video on the AI Key and the author uses the word “enhance”. He also makes your point that it works with select Ubiquiti cameras (I.e., the G4, the G5, and other AI-enabled units) or third party cameras paired with the AI Port.
@ The Ai Key does not add AI ability to non-AI cameras, you still need an AI port to do that. This box simply adds additional processing, like the AI event descriptions, audio transcription, video enhancement, etc. No processing is offloaded from the cameras, this is just taking the events that the cameras register and pull/generate more info from it
@@Zach_Miller Thanks for the clarification. I’ve been thinking about enhancing our school’s security by adding a Ubiquiti camera and wanted to know how the new AI Key would complement or enhance my selection.
This is super cool, especially the "upcoming" features. A little bummed at the 1k events limit, but I'll go ahead and place my bet that they are working on a 1-2u full-depth server to multiply the compute. Or maybe an AI ENVR
different things, AI PORT will make your cameras have AI capabilities, AI KEY will give your cameras enhanced AI capabilities so if you dont have an AI CAMERA LINE you will need an AI PORT + AI KEY to have everything mentioned in this video
1000 detections equals round about 1 detection every 4 seconds. Ok. If you have a bunch of cams you can scale the load onto different Ai-Keya. Ok. Is it possible to keep the „dumb“ detection, e.g. motion in order to get push information asap? It would not be that nice to wait for the AI-key until it has finished the queue. Or in other words: Cam pushes „motion!“ And when checking live view I see something and later on I can use image optimisation or look for the „person in the red shirt and hat“ somewhere else in the building.
Does it work with Onvif? If you have AI Ports would this allow AI key to work if it doesn’t not natively. Any benefits to having both AI port and AI key?
Cody, just to be sure as it looks like we are both in the GTA.. Recording audio with video is not legal here.. so please, make sure you turn off the audio recording on all your cameras in that building.
you keep saying g5 series cameras.... faces does not appear available on latest EA protect with G5 FLex Cameras or G5 PTZ or Ai360 - is it only G5 Ai cameras...?
For some idea of the processing time of this system: 1000 per hour = roughly 16.5 a minute, or roughly 3-4 seconds to process one smart detection and give you data on it. And this is "up to" 1000 per hour (probably based on the complexity of the image), so it may be best to estimate a 5 second processing time per event.
2:59 i've never understood this. Why do you need AI to tell you what you can see with your eyes. rest of features such as enhancement and searches are nice
Ya it is dumb to have an AI tell you what you are already seeing, but basically what the feature is doing is categorizing the data the AI sees so that you can use the language search stuff. It doesn't have to show you the data of how it is classifying something, but the data has to be there so why not show you as well? Helps you understand whether something is being classified correctly or not in training the AI models too.
Will be interesting where this leads legally. Let's say somebody robs your store and your security camera picks it up. The defense could argue that the AI altered the image to make that person's face and get the evidence thrown out possibly if they're a good lawyer.
I guess it depends on the value of the case and location (even though it shouldn't), in my area a judge couldn't care less about what type of camera or equipment was used if they can clearly make out who was in the video
They sure are turning out new products at a fast pace, I can’t keep up with them, but I hope they keep it up and continue to enhance everything.
Please do a comparison with the AI port. Please clearly help us understand if the AI port or AI key does not work with certain UniFi cameras.
