If you're lucky, you'll have 2 metallic tags on your rear axle that tells you what type of fluid to use as well as details as to what the OEM gear ratio is and the gear size (i.e. 8.8). Turns out that my 02 Mustang has both tags attached. It'll be a good idea to reattach those tags when you reattach or replace the cover. I suppose some mechanics don't bother reattaching the tags.
Awesome video. But I don’t know if you knew that royal purple has a friction modifier in it already.
Jesus Rodriguez thank you! But yeah but i was told putting in a bit extra would help quiet it down a bit more
Anthony Guardanapo III sorry lol. once again awesome video.
Jesus Rodriguez no worries! Thank you!
Is it a good idea to spray break clean in the housing like that? I'm not trying to be dick just asking about to do mine.
I was wondering exactly the same thing. The brake cleaner is a solvent i believe. Not something you want mixing with your diff oil. Probably better to simply wet a rag with it to clean the mating surface.
Yeah seen multiple videos do the same
Looks cleaner and nicer, keep up the good work man.
Brian Eastman will do, thank you!
I had no idea Scott Stapp was sorta handy with cars. Awesome.
This video helped alot bro thanks!!
What did you spray in there?
460 CEO brake cleaner
works good lol
I don't mind the smell of most automotive oils, chemicals, etc. But gear oil? BLECCCHHHH
bought a 02 mustang gt awhile back as a project car; replaced the clutch assembly and started her up on jackstands, went all the way into third gear until the rear end started clinking and making noise; so I took the cover off of the rear diff and the fluid was pitch black -_- make sure you guys check and change your diff fluid; it should be golden-light brown. any darker and it needs a change. if its too old and your rear diff starts to make noise, any longer and you're gonna need a whole new differential.
Where did you get the friction modifier from I tried getting it and couldn't find it so I didnt put any is the friction modifier really needed if so can u tell me where to find it thanks
Thanks for the break bro.
MEET AND GREET!!!

It’s recommended to replace the bolts.
