I remember beating the game for the first time blind. I’m a huge fan of horror games and RPGs and this was right up my alley. I spent so much time making mistakes, dying, losing coin flips and just fucking up in general. I eventually got ending D and felt so many emotions, I was so overwhelmed and literally just had to sit there and process it. The lore, the violence, the horror and the surprises.
Then they offered me the dating sim. Best reward ever.
I really when games offer tonal dissonance and create a memorable scene. Without spoiling anything, Alan Wake 2 had this sort of thing too

On my first blind run of Dungeon Nights i tried to date Enki. It didn't work obviously, but it's somehow comforting that even if i did everything correctly it would still be a failure
No bc i got so sad when I found out u couldn't with him bc glitch

21:00 This is probably a linguistic thing, but it does make the dialogue less creepy. When Cahara tells Nilvan "you're pretty out there", he doesn't mean "you're too pretty." In this case "pretty" is used as an adverb, like "very" or "quite", as in "that's pretty cool" or "I'm pretty hungry." Saying "you're pretty out there" (emphasis on the word "out") means that she's strange or unusual, but in an endearing or pleasant way.

the D'Arce dating route involving romancing Legarde and then turning to her instead is, i think, a fairly on the nose reference to Golden Age era Berzerk, with you taking Guts role, getting the attention of Griffiths and then falling for Casca. Shame it doesn't end with Legarde going mental, unleashing hell on you, and doing a horrible thing I definitely shouldn't write about in a youtube comments section

To answer the first question. If I think about fear and hunger, the first thing that comes to mind is Samarie and how she has never done anything wrong and she deserves the world.

"The DUNGERONS OF FEAR & HUNG-" that, made me chuckle.
Thank you for the in-depth break down on the mode not enough looking into how it's ACTUALLY meant to work. it's ironic how the bugs are far more famous than the mode itself.
I really do wish the mode had more time to cook. I wish each character had unique dialogue for being given different items I know for certain chum bra would have something to say about finding meaning in value in a withered rose that you'd normally give to D'arce. I can see Chara going umm thanks I guess. ECT
Also I actually really like that Nilvan likes cats it gives the girl an indirect connection to her mother as she takes after her in liking animals generally but the pair diverge with the girl preferring dogs it's just a cute detail that I like to think is cannon and explains why the girl is so naturally good with moonless.
I in general really wish Nilvan had more personality to her heck despite having such strong ambitions as to birth a god and mould humanities feature to her will though its creation indirectly, We don't know much about Her.
Chumbra we knew the second least about but his ascetics spoke for us then we find more poetry of his later and it adds more character to him. Valtail we know a little too much aboutbut we do get to understand his method of continuing his reign.
francois we get to see him a man confused overwhelmed by the idea that he could simply be a puppet of the gods a simple minded blood thirsty warlord contrasted with himself in the present a broken man begging you to destroy his past self drunk of false power and put an end to this.
poor Nilvan doesn't have enough to her in cannon though I do like her cutesy yet introspective nature, that may have inspired me to write a little story about her in the past that I shared with a few friends more of a what if those personality traits affected her in actual fear & Hunger.
I feel like the cannon character for dungeon nights is probably D'Arce as an opening line like a modern versions of the battles between nights and dragons really sounds like the sort of thing she would say/think of? I wonder if each character was meant to have their own opening text but once agin not tested.
I was surprised when you didn't mention the lord of the flies knocking you out and teleporting you into the real dungeon.
Did you try forcing the code to give you maximum reputation with Nash'rah see what happened like you did with Enki? Love his outro line btw.

I remember dungeon nights, I ended up going with pocketcat mostly because he was a literal teacher and I was like there’s no way he says yes. He said yes. Absolutely insane 10/10

Dungeon Nights are literally the best fucking thing ever also because of the special glitch that let's you start hard mode with SO MUCH EXTRA STUFF
I have always loved the intro you have for fear and hunger since I watched some of Drawn together soon before finding your channel.
But for this video it feels especially fitting.
This gamemode was quite fun, I liked it. I spent the whole time trying to romance crow mauler and chambara and failing.
But I did succeed with Ragnavaldr.
But after your pocketcat theory video this mode has become especially interesting to me and I tried looking all over it lol for any missing details
as a rather awkward person i would rather fight the literal god of destruction than find a date tbh

AAAAA I was waiting for you to talk about dungeon nights, all i found about it were videos like: "ah yeah and then you here here and there (doesn't show, simply speaks. God knows where they were talking about.)" but not about where it came from, why, when.
AND ALSO ABOUT THE GIVING THINGS TO LE'GARDE TO ROMANCE D'ARCE, i was told to but both the claymore and the armor, i got so mad when I heard you can just find the claymore outside (its too expensive)
AND SPEAKING OF HER IN DUNGEON NIGHTS, random fact: if you fail to romance her she says "Maybe im not into boys that much after all", which is ...🤨(predictable tbh)

At 10:01, the reason the code is bugged is because it checks if you have *less* (). Ironically, this gives you that extra affection point BECAUSE you already have one! Great video btw! :)
