The bucket that came with the mini guillotine isn't a counterweight for anything. It's just supposed to be a prop bucket that goes in front of/next to where the blade falls. It's supposed to look like a bucket with a head in it.
They correct Michael on the catapult but he was right what they ordered is a catapult. A trebuchet is launched by a swinging arm due to gravity not tension pulling it back
Actually, that's not quite right. Although you are right and that indeed isn't a trebuchet, it actually is a mangonel. Mangonel and trebuchet are both catapults since it's an umbrella term that encompasses most siege engines built to throw stuff =P
Backon Lazer I know it's an umbrella term but I'm referring to the specificity that Matthias and Tanner used in calling it a trebuchet I wasn't sure what kind of catapult it was but I knew it wasn't a trebuchet cause I've made trebuchets before to launch flower bombs 😂
8:17 Michael was right to say catapult. TL;DR The main difference is the type of potential energy being transferred to kinetic energy. Catapults use elastic potential energy whereas a trebuchet uses gravitational potential energy. Scientific explanation: A catapult fires a projectile because of tension in the restraining rope being winched around a crankshaft creating elastic potential energy in the rope connecting the top of the frame to the arm. The potential energy is then transferred to kinetic when the release lever is pulled. Trebuchets propel a projectile through the use of a counterweight. The arm is pulled into position by means of a rope and the rope is released. This means the trebuchet uses the mass of the counterweight to determine the distance that the projectile will travel.

Does anyone notice that Matthias is wearing the shirt that Dwight Schrute wore in the office when they went to Niagara Falls for Pam and Jim’s wedding?
eons ago when I was a kid, there was a guy that built scale models of various pistols. If they had a magazine in the real one, the scale model did too, but the models would actually fire. The problem was cleaning them afterwards. the parts are so tiny cleaning them is quite a task. Then getting the thing back together...you have to be a watchmaker to do it. So there's nothing new about guns this size. Heck one guy made scale models of cars ... with v8 engines that actually ran. Oddly he never made squat off the cars, but in the course of making them he needed a tiny spark plug that would work at that scale, so he invented a new kind of spark plug... Bosch bough the rights and is still making the plugs based on his design today, albeit in regular size. Frankly they don't work all that well, but they still sell em.

Frankly they don't work all that well, but they still sell em.
all fun and games until Mathias loses an eye.
your only jig-maker ,then it’s hilarious
