- What a week! Our dog cavapoo Olive was under the weather causing her to sporadically vomit and diarrhea everywhere for days. As a pet owner, seeing your sick fur baby who cannot describe symptoms can be painfully sad and stressful all at the same time. Dogs can’t care for themselves when they're under the weather, so it's up to pet parents to provide loving support and the conditions for a successful recovery. Also, pets may not be able to tell you what's wrong, but they can show you signs. Awareness of the signs to the most common illnesses help reduce the pet's risk of being affected by them. In this video, we share Olive’s journey to recovery at home, eating a bland diet of chicken and rice, and a visit to the vet. 🐾

Thank God Lil sweet Olive is going to be OK, it's crazy, but I have watched every video of her, and it would make me very sad if Lil Olive wasn't around. I hope the whole family is safe, healthy and happy

@@Penfold101 of cos I m thankful to doctors and vets especially when they are truly dedicated and caring to our furry friends. God also uses doctors and give them gifts to help humanities. Hallelujah.

A lot of dogs eat grass when they have a upset stomach. It helps coat the tummy

So sad seeing Olive sick. I’m so glad she is feeling better. She really was so brave at the vet. I think she really enjoyed the special attention from all the nice people at the vet. You are excellent pet parents, watching so carefully for signs of illness that a dog cannot express.
When Olive was not well and in the playpen, she was so HAPPY when her daddy came in to play with her. I had heard there's a vet shortage in the US. Your not getting an urgent care appointment bears the rumor out. Fortunately, you handled the situation well by feeding her a soft diet, and luckily you had a long-standing appointment. All's well that ends well, and Olive survived with her sunny personality.

Our Cavapoo had similar issues when she was about 8 months old - she’d had two bacterial infections one after the other and then pretty much stopped eating. Everything we tried she wasn’t interested in, and on the vet’s advice we were trying plain boiled chicken. When this wasn’t working either and she’d lost a lot of weight we went to a specialist who suggested protein-free food which the body doesn’t recognise, and she was eating normally within a few days.
Almost a year later it’s still all she eats, but anything she has that she shouldn’t immediately makes her feel rubbish and she goes off her food again.
It’s a protein intolerance, we think caused by the infections, but as long as she has her own food and nothing else she’s absolutely fine!

@@sherrisolomon8673 I’m not exactly sure, but there’s a few different kibble brands that make the approprite hypoallergenic food - Royal Canin is one. They also me make wet food too although feeding her just that causes less solid stool, shall we say…
Either way she’s never short of energy unless she’s eaten something she shouldn’t have, and has stayed a constant 7kg for almost a year now.
Glad to hear Olive is okay ❤️ It is so upsetting when they are not well. My little girl had exactly the same symptoms and responded very well to a bland diet of shredded poached chicken, pumpkin purée and steamed rice for 2 days. Now I give her a probiotic daily just sprinkled on her food for gut health. Love your videos. 🤗

Poor Olive. It is hard when your fur baby is sick. Glad to hear she is feeling better. I have 2 dogs of my own and went through this with them as well. Both are doing well now.

Our dog eats grass when she has an upset stomach, it’s not normally the cause. Usually when she starts bowing down we know her tummy is upset so we take her to the grass. We don’t let her eat grass outside of our garden as it may be sprayed with pesticides which is harmful to animals. Grass always seems to works when it’s a simple tummy ache.❤️🇬🇧
Yeah that’s what I was thinking when he mentioned Olive ate grass., it’s so cool that dogs know to eat grass to soothe an upset stomach!

She’s super cute. I love watching her eat. Just adorable. My Totoro loves going to the vet because he can see lots of babies and he wants to make friends with everyone. He often takes me to the vet when we are out for a walk. The vets are so lovely here. He had his teeth cleaned this summer. He will be 5 years old in January so I think that was a good time. btw, do you have problems brushing Olive’s teeth? I can only brush with toothspaste once a week because he hates it so much. I use a dental wipe the rest of the week.

Once my dog ate a dead bird. He had his tummy pumped out they found feathers and a beak so it was a bird that he ate. Then he had to take antibiotics and anti-nausea pills. Poor little baby was sick!

I am so happy thatOLIVE is okay it bothered me in the video to see HER looks so sick.. you can use dental treats to help prevent the plaque I use BONIES and sometimes I use the brand fromChewy TRU ACRE or or the Nyla bone filet mignon flavor that one can be pricey you got a look for sales on that one but don’t ever use greenies the greenies dental treats had an ingredient that was bad for dogs and killed a lot of dogs and the company never said what ingredient it was so I don’t believe you can trust that company

Did the vet say what caused Olive to be sick?
They didn’t! Couldn’t tell what the cause was but we think she likely ate a leaf or something she shouldn’t while on a walk. She’s had upset stomach from eating something she shouldn’t before but not this extreme that we were this worried. Gotta keep an eye out at all times 🤪👀
