As usual, an excellent lesson and I need to learn this quickly to pay pay with some friends tomorrow.... It's a mini concert at my son's school. I'm now going to look to see if I can find anything on So Lonely Lonely. I've never really played anything that has a reggae ish feeling And also will need to change the keys But the change of care isn't a big problem for me. it's the notes and the groove. so thanks very much for this one
This video was so helpful for me because I am working on a cover of message in a bottle and I needed to know the bassline for it, so thank you for teaching me the bassline
Wow, if I were in the market to learn bass sir I would be banging on your doorstep! Your energy and enthusiasm, the simple breakdown note by note, and encouragement are the hallmarks of a truly good teacher.
And sometimes it’s just fun to take a lesson, thinking about doing this one and Walking on the moon, don’t forget fellow low Enders try out different grooves and feels with your drummer. Remember you two control the Band cheers
as usual, another top lesson and as usual my question is outside the box.... But as usual, I have an introductory comment I have a mere six bass guitars And three of them are €200 Harley Bentons and they're brilliant And of course I do need to get a flying V and an Explorer base. but my question to you is.... do you have several / many because you are passionate and you like the fun or are they really quite significantly different? nowadays, I play Jam sessions and open mics and record my appearances on audio video using a mobile apart from your awesome lessons, maybe you work in the studio or you are a session musician or you play in a band using good quality amplification and speakers. but do you get much benefit out of the different bases? other than pleasure and I say the more pleasure the better pleasure is a jolly good thing to get
u don't play it right. play it like in the video clip, not the Gay version because it just doesn't sound right. don't push ur inexperience on other people. u just have to slide all the way tru the last three chords on the lower three strings. nobody can play this song whilst playing it like the video clip so don't act like ur gay short version is good it sounds terrible because the song Needs the lower E string from the guitar and the slides to sound good. plz don't teach ppl to play it wrong. PLAY IT JUST LIKE THE VIDEO CLIP! I know it takes lots of practice to play the song like the video clip for 4:51 without getting any cramps. but this is the only way to play it! just practice Months before u wanna play this number right. u will Not learn this number in one minute because everyone will say u u don't play it the right (difficult) way. I can play the song very well so seeing this really hurts me and is not sounding right at all.. believe me... not many people can play the whole number the whole time through without cramping up, so Respect this number.
Hey Barney, why don’t you make a video to share the tweaks you would make? I’m perfectly happy to share the URL here. Cheers! Keep sharing the bass love :-) James

Hi, could you bring out video on how to play bass for merle haggard song tonight the bottle let me down
I will that to my list! Thanks for the suggestion!
Wow, I've been playing it wrong all this time! Thanks for the clarification.
Glad you learn something from the video! Cheers!
Great lesson. You could start off each section a bit slower so us beginners can keep up.
Just uploaded my attempt at this song to the bass lab facebook page
Nice - I’ll look out for it!
I see thing play it with his thumb but a lot of people use picks or pluckers in cover vids
Meant to say sting not thing
I believe Sting recorded this song on a fretless bass
Yes you can hear it when he slides between notes
Thanks for sharing that! Cheers!
Your high F# is bothering me😂
Way too fast for me man
You can start on a slower pace then work your way up til you hit the timing!
@@ebassguitar He may be referring to the pace of the video. As a newer player, I had a hard time keeping up.
