    Another example of why this was the best written show on television.

      Second to The Wire but an extremely close second. Love both shows. I just think The Wire was the most important show ever written due to its direct discussion of the plight of drugs on the inner cities of our country.

    I *love* the end of this...
    CJ: "So... let me see if I have this... a hurricane's picked up speed and power and is heading for Georgia; management and labor are coming here to work out a settlement to avoid a crippling strike that'll begin at midnight tonight, and the government's planning a siege on 18-40 of its' citizens; all the while we host a state dinner for the President of Indonesia."
    *everybody voices their approval of CJ's assessment*
    "Amazingly, ya know what I'm gonna get asked most often today?"
    Josh: "What?"
    CJ: "Sondra?"
    Sondra: "I'm sorry, CJ..."
    CJ: "Black suede and velvet Malolo Blahnik (sp?) slides with a rhinestone and mother of pearl toe buckle."

    This is one of the (many) reasons why she became Leo's replacement.

    Always astonishes me that “people “ need to know who is wearing what and to which event ? Why is this?

    Journalist at the end must have been using shorthand. My ears can't listen fast enough let alone transcribe anything.

    I respect that CJ is good at her job, but she could respect that those people were just trying to do theirs.

    • @claudiagreen9277
      @claudiagreen9277 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, except they're not doing theirs. that's the problem. there were three events that ranged from national news to national crises, and all the white house press corp cared about was what kind of expensive clothing the women would be wearing. it's not classy, it's classist.

    • @Raziel21
      @Raziel21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@claudiagreen9277 Those people were all from magazines like In Style that focus on fashion topics. They asked those kinds of questions because that's what their publications focus on. So they were doing their jobs, CJ just didn't have any sort of respect for them or their choice in profession.

    • @claudiagreen9277
      @claudiagreen9277 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Raziel21 I think the instyle magazine crack was rhetorical? I thought c.j.'s point was that the actual, serious, white house press corp was playing fashion magazine as if they were in style.

    • @Raziel21
      @Raziel21 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@claudiagreen9277 The whole press core is usually sixty something people in that big room. This scene was just CJ and 10 people talking about the dinner and she mentions Mirabella along with In Style. I get that CJ thinks less of such publications and that the press should be focused on 'serious' matters, but that's not what those types of magazines cover. They weren't being sexist, they were doing their jobs and CJ was belittling them for it.
