    I believe this is the only scientific video on youtube of this kind. There's no other video like it. This shows every person even remotely interested, the exact power required for everyday tasks. Well done! Tremendous help to people who really need it the most. Looking forward to more measurements.

      @subhobroto Thank you very much sir :) Watt-hours are like cooking "fuel" and we can compare efficiency of different methods and devices. More measurements on the way !

    Excellent informative demonstration and so enlightening for people like me who are clueless as to what is achievable in a scenario where solar is required to conduct daily activiities requiring electricity. Much appreciated!

      @Victoria-gq8gt Hi and thank you for the kind feedback - I am glad this video was useful to you. I too wanted to see the "real world" numbers required for cooking food with solar. Hope to do more tests like this in the future :)

    I have no real use (except knowledge) of most of your videos, but the amount of information, the scientific approach and the passion you share is what keeps me watching. Great work !

    I like that little oven 👍 Yesterday I used one of those Nuwave Induction Cook-top to cook eggs and hash browns, worked great using solar. It was during daylight hours so it didn't put a dent in my batteries. Next time I'll meter it.

      @cliffandrews They are addicting to use, and I'm not even a chef :) I just burn stuff mostly. That food sounds good... it would be interesting to know the watt count for an induction cooktop. I recently bought a very small induction cooktop, maybe I'll slap a meter on it and see what it takes

      Been living off grid for a bit now, the 12v adaptions and DC to DC conversions is how I manage... Your awesome buddy, keep it up!

    Very cool! It would be very interesting to see how the oven would handle cooking something from frozen, like one of those stuffed chicken breasts. Since they're essentially a block of ice when you first put them in, it would be interesting to see if the oven could maintain the temperature. Powder coating would also be a pretty cool experiment, I guess I'm going to have to build one of my own once I get setup! :) Excellent video, and thank you for sharing it with us

      @colin8532 Welcome sir :) all good ideas and need to try this... also I bet I could run the oven on low to thaw the food and save power

    finally building this this weekend, going to use 25v usbc pd 3.1 and double ur resistance and also already building 500wh mini ammo can power stations out of 32ah lifepo4 cells. going to use ~12v output into cig outlet car adapter to 25v i think ran through a 240w pd 3.1 battery back module.

    If you read this, can you explain this to me... Power stations are rated in watt hours, and LiFePO4 Lithium Batteries in amp hours. Power stations in the 500-600 watt hour class, seem to be equal to 5 amp hours. From what I can tell with calculators, a 100 amp hour LiFePO4 Battery (around $300) is equal to 12,000 watt hours, or a power station costing around $8,000.
    Would not it be best to buy a 100AH battery and an inverter? Or am I understanding the AH/WH ratings wrong?

    • @solarpoweredge
      @solarpoweredge  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Knife_Collector Hi, I'll try to explain it. Watt-hours is amps at a certain voltage over time. Think of it like fuel in the tank.
      Amp-hours only tells us the capacity of the battery but not how long it will run. By multiplying the voltage X amp hours, the watt-hour capacity is estimated as well as runtime.
      A 100ah LiFePo4 battery is 100ah X 12.8v = 1280 watt-hours estimated.
      Every power conversion wastes some of the power. An inverter wastes quite a lot power. Therefore, it's most efficient to put the direct current straight into an oven, without any conversion. That's why I build a lot of DC appliances - plus no reliance on an inverter, which can burn out. Simpler tech that does the same work = lower cost, more robust, more efficient, better for grid-down scenarios. Hope this helps!
