I like to lay my large paper storage (magazine holder type) on their backs that way I can pull individual packs out one at a time without pulling the whole holder out
I write the paper style and or color scheme on the glue end of my paper pads with a sharpie. Really helps me see what I have and not pull everyone out each time.
I'm in the process of planning a craft room reorganization and deciding if I prefer vertical or horizontal paper storage. Love the job ticket holder, I've used scrapbook pages for my 12x12's. The storage bin for 6x8 and smaller is soooo much better than drawer storage. Thanks!
I’d like to share a tip that’s been working for me for many years. Long before they came out with the zippered pouches or envelopes and I’m thinking of switching over to those if they are going to work in the sizes I like. I got them from OfficeMax and forgive me for not being in front of them currently to tell you the exact name, but they are OfficeMax brand and they are a slider zippered plastic envelope that expands. I have 5 of the large size which is about 10x12” for storing scraps of glitter paper, vellum, mirror cardstock and patterned paper. But the best part is they come in a half sheet of paper size and I store my colored cardstock scraps in those and have each color family labeled on the short side and stand them on end in a wire basket. So they’re all in a row from all my whites through to blacks and greys. They all fit in a wire mesh bin that’s about 6”x11” inside measurement. I store them on a shelf where all my other paper is and so it only takes about 7” of frontal space and I can see clearly the labels in rainbow order. These are very rigid so they don’t flop over which is what’s kept me from switching to the other style pockets. I have had a few of the sliders break, but out of about 20 of them over more than 15 years, only about 6. I have yet to see a better scrap storage system because I can and do keep even the smallest of scraps especially when it’s mirror cardstock. I hope this can help someone. It surely works wonders for me.
@@NickiHeartsCards the advantage to them in the half size is your small scraps are easy to get out. where when you store them in with the large ticket holders, they fall to the bottom and you have to dig through everything. And you won’t, so you don’t save near as many small pieces or strips. You can store them in a drawer length wise too. whatever works for your space, but they also expand giving plenty of room. I would suggest if you invest in them that you buy an extra pack of whatever size you buy because you will have a slider or 2 break without even doing anything. But they’re worth that for my space. I hope it’s helpful to anyone. 🩷
Loved the organization tips. Wish I could start over on a few things, but after 45 years it would be a massive project in a small room! I will just admire yours!
I liked the job ticket folders and Alt@new envelope style pockets. My biggest storage challenge is storing stamps, dies, and stencils, especially the combos that have all three products together as well as separating categories so I can find the sentiment or animal, tree ... that I'm looking for without spending most of my time looking for them. I have plastic drawer towers on wheels now and the drawers just don't pull out far enough to make finding things practical. The other area I'm challenged by is keeping the polymer stamps in the right place on the sheets and not mix the sets up. I hope this makes sense. It will be nice to know how you keep them organized. Thank you for letting me know. I do have a video from a couple years ago with my storage for stamps and dies. I probably need to make a new one with all these new products that go together. Here’s the older video 🔗 if you want to see th-cam.com/video/JuVbZbULWU8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WU_KcRx5yEOFmot1
Awesome video! I love your craft studio. My favorite part of this video was letting us know how many sheets of cardstock would fit in the Altenew paper holders and the amazon job ticket holders (and the cost breakdown). I am getting ready to start converting my current way I store 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock to the job ticket holders. I will always get free shipping (even if my budget is a little tight) ordering on amazon. With the Altenew paper holders, you have to spend a significant amount of money to get free shipping.
Yes, I understand. That does make a difference. Altenew runs free shipping every few months but both are great options. So glad to know you liked that part. I always love to know the cost breakdown but wasn’t sure if other people did so that helps me to know! 🥰
Lovely craft room and organisation ideas! Currently I'm just putting my paper in either boxes (8x8) zip lock bags or on my bookshelf oh and some in my totally tiffany 12x12 storage and carry cases! I was wondering if you had space under your desk what type of storage would you use? I was thinking maybe a small trolley type of thing as well as side opening drawers/boxes! Not really boxes with top lids so I don't have to lift them away if I wanted to get to a bottom box (if too heavy not sure I could lift anyway haha)
I use carts with removable trays under my desk but would love to have something that could hold more. Since my desk is a stand up desk, it makes it hard to find something that fits perfectly there
@@NickiHeartsCards I really need to get to organising ... kind of just been putting most things on the floor ... gotten so bad mom keeps on saying please don't buy anymore and "your room is now a fire hazard" haha so best clean and organise if I want to buy anymore! haha

Super helpful. Didn't know there were all of these different options for keeping papers safe. Thanks so much. I am in the process of purging and organizing so this is all very helpful.
I like the looks of the job ticket and Altenew paper sleeves. I currently have mine in a flat stackable holder, but would like something that would keep the dust off my paper better. Thanks for the ideas!
I’ve been using HL storage memory keepers for keeping projects together, but they do bulk up to 1.5”, so thank you for sharing the job ticket holder idea! I think that will esp be great idea to use for a smaller project too for what I would need it for.
I just discovered your channel and I'm a new subscriber. Great video! I look forward to watching more of your content. Especially the craft room tour and storage ideas. I have found the zipper pouches on an end cap at Michaels on a three Pack of the zippered pouches and they do hold 12x 12 paper. The pouches are longer than 12" one side it might be 12x13 but it easily holds 12x12 paper
Nice video Nicki! I struggle with having an efficient paper system. You gave me a few things to try out and I appreciate that. 😊 The Altenew sleeves look really nice so I might start there. I’d be interested in any organization videos you make because I’m a mess over here, ha! Because my craft area is in a dining room corner, I need storage that’s hidden. That is part of my problem because out of sight, out of mind. 😉
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. I think you will like the Altenew pockets - very sturdy. Make sure you saw my latest craft room tour last week for a better view of everything. Planning to do a few organization videos this year. 🥰
Thanks for the super tour - and will use your affiliate links if I buy something. I use magazine holders and job ticket holders like Jennifer’s system too, and was just wondering why you didn’t turn them so there’s no lip, so paper could be slid out. Labels could be placed on the Kallax unit itself just above or below them.
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. I don’t mind the lip. Kind of like it and I’m always rearranging so don’t like to label on my Kallax unit just in case I have trouble getting it off. Hope that answers your question. Just my preference.
@@NickiHeartsCardsyes, it’s not as if it’s a struggle to have the lip! I just mention it because it didn’t dawn on some paper crafters I was talking to once in person. I get it - I can miss some obvious solutions too.
Hey Nicki! Great tips on paper storage. I love seeing how other crafters organize. I didn't see a link for the Company Store bins. Did I miss it somehow? Thanks
Thank you! No, I don’t have an affiliate link to the container store and searched like crazy last night trying to see if they still make them. Not finding them but going to check again today.
Again, great tour - thank you! Do you have a link to your adhesive backed foam sheets? I thought I saw them in this video but maybe there were in another one? (I’ve found some but would rather use your affiliate link.)
I don't have the link but they came from the Container Store. I am not sure if they make them anymore -not seeing them on the site. Sorry about that. I know that there are some clear refrigerator bins that will hold A2 cards like this.
I noticed to stored altenew papers in two different places, one on the back wall next to 12x12 and the other in the plastic containers in Kallax, any reason? I love your room!
Yes- the ones on the back wall are replacing the original colors. I’m trying to keep them separate because wanted to use the newer papers from my Altenew projects but not going to waste my old paper- so put them in different places. Plus, I don’t have a huge variety of the old Altenew papers and the new ones, I have tons of colors so just love how it looks on the back wall 🥰🥰
I have a stand similar to an Alex door that holds the big ream of paper. 8.5x11 size. The drawers are just slightly larger then that size. My printer sits on it. Each drawer is white, black, Kraft ect. Then there’s a drawer for speciality that’s in original packaging. Mostly because it fits. For other 8.5x 11 I have 1 bin from target brightroom multipurpose storage bin paper lays sideways perfectly in it. There is some room would work fit with the job ticket holders too.
Do you mean the card bases? My kids and I sit down with a ream of paper and they cut while I score and fold. Usually takes less than hour to do a whole ream.
Do you know if either of the 8.5 x 11” paper storage pockets protect your cardstocks from sun fading? I liked having my paper out (in the magazine style holders), but the edges started fading from sun exposure, so now it’s in my closet. I have a mountain of cardstock, but I have no idea where most of it is from, because I bought a lady’s paper supply many years ago. 😊❤
That’s a great question. I think the Office Depot ticket holders aren’t perfectly clear which seems like it might protect better. I’ve always had my paper out but not directly in sunlight and haven’t had any fading. It would need to be an experiment to figure it out, I believe. 🥰💕😊
