Thank you so much! Fun fact. Tried to solve one of these in a video game. And after an hour of frustration it was, either rip my hair out or look up if there was some methods to it. Got it done in less than a minute after watching your method. An incredible method you have going here, really shows how easy things can actually be with the right set up. But it takes some very high level of understanding of the puzzles to come up with the simplified methods though. So all props to you, and again. Thanks! You literally saved my day!
I know this is an old old video but it’s still serving it’s purpose. I’m 100%ing Ghost Trick thanks to you. I always used to lose my patience with these-this method is actually wonderful.
I was having a lot of trouble with a slide puzzle in a video game, learning about the 2nd rotation (the piece you wanna place goes into centre, then you rotate everything around the centre till you find q good position) helped a lot! Now I finally solved it! Thanks for the great tutorial!
By 5:13 with the rotation logic and the consideration to star solving alternating superior rows and left rows, from the top left corner to the bottom right corner was enough to pass my game! I’m so happy I found this video, such a nice tutorial, super clear! Thank you!
A other method : First solve the 1 tile like this: 1 x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x Then solve the 2 tile like this: 1 2 x x x x x x x x x x x x x x Then slide the 4 to the place that 3 should be or slide the 3 to the place that 4 should be so it will be like one of these: 1 2 4 x x x x x x x x x x x x x or 1 2 x 3 x x x x x x x x x x x x Then do this: 1 2 4 0 x x 3 x x x x x x x x x or 1 2 0 3 x x x 4 x x x x x x x x and Type 1: Move the 4 to the 0 then move the 3 to the 0. Type 2: Move the 3 to the 0 then move the 4 to the 0. (0 = Empty Place) Repeat at the second row. Then you should get this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 x x x x x x x x Then do this : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 13 9 x x 0 x x x or 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 0 x x x 9 13 x x Type 1: Move the 13 to the 0 then move the 9 to the 0. Type 2: Move the 9 to the 0 then Move the 13 to the 0. (Again, 0 = Empty Place) Repeat at the second column. Then move the 3 pieces until they are solved.
My dude, before watching your video I didn't even know what I was doing, and literally after I watched this, I solved the puzzle without even realizing. Insta-liked and insta-subbed.
Rito I’ve been stuck on it for 2 hours because “I’m smart, it’s a kids game. I used to do these all the time!” Now I’m old and have no patience, and legitimately want to smite RuneScape into a salty obelisk because it deserves to be praised with how toxic this is making me
As someone who has despised these puzzles since the days where they were prizes in cereal or a happy meal, this tutorial made them enjoyable. Thanks for being such an effective teacher.
Hello from 8 years in the future. Thank you very much for this video. Crazy that all the other "Solve ANY slider puzzle!!" tutorials I found end with "now you have to solve the 3x2, and there's no one overall way to do it, so you'll just have to figure it out", when this video explained clearly and precisely how to do it 8 years ago. Thank you thank you.
This is amazing! I was breaking my head trying to figure out a 3x3 puzzle for almost an hour! Now I can even solve a 6x6 in less than 10 minutes, amazing video!
Thanks! I've always hated these but this made so much sense. I practiced for about two hours now and I just crushed a 5x5 in 410 moves, 414 seconds. But 3x3, 4x4s were no problem at all. Thanks for a very easy method to follow, I just kept solving the horizontal / vertical and then reducing to 9x9 and these are cake.
IMPORTANT: for those doing the metaverse, your strategy should be right > left (instead of left > right in the video) because the missing final piece is at the bottom left corner, not the bottom right
@@Not_49Because you'd end up with a misplaced last row. The final missing square needs to be on the correct side of the board, and the strategy is to start on the opposite side of the missing square
I started playing this puzzle and was so confused on how to fit in the corners each time so I appreciate this video a lot! so easy wet you break them down
The way I finish a row is, that I first place the second-to-last tile in the last tile's spot (so if the grid is 4x4, I put the number 3 into the 4 spot), then, I place the last tile of that row below it, and then I rotate both of them so that they get fixed.
Maizuma Games Yeah, and for the last two rows, I just go from left to right, first placing 9 into the 13 spot, then 13 into the 14 spot, and then rotating both into the correct position.
Very well explained... with proper techniques... I was searching for the solution and reached to this video.. I would like to go through more of your videos...
Thank you so much , I've learn something new ! I had to solve it for a game (Runescape) like other people in comments, and i've solve it in less than 2 minutes with your solution when I was stuck on it for 15 minutes :)
what I took away from this is that the best approach is to divide the puzzle into subsets by taking away columns and rows from the end until you've reduced it to a 2x2. I won't remember the rotation thing but the divide and conquer definitely works, so thank you.
I know a easier method for the top side of numbers for 5x5. As normal, you do the first 3 numbers then find the last number, place the 5th number next to the third number then put the fourth number under the 5th number then make a gap next to the 5th number and then swipe it there then there will be a free gap for the 4th number. I find this method much easier.
Question, solving a 4x4, if you have a puzzle that’s in the right order and you take out the 14 and 15 and swap them, is it possible to solve it by sliding the numbers in the correct order? No matter what I do I can’t get the last two in order. Doesn’t matter if it’s 14&15, 12&13, 10&11 it just doesn’t seem to work out. Thanks!
Thanks. I was stuck on finishing the last two rows because I couldn't figure out how to put in the corners and put them in the correct order I wanted. Basically, finish top row, then left most column, then next row, then next column, and so on.
Hey Maizuma, it's been a while but I saw 15 puzzle and couldn't resist. Cool video, I really love these things. I actually programmed one of these and it has both a number and picture version. If you want to see I'd be willing to show you. Also it uses arrow keys so you can solve them super fast!
The method i use for the corner edge is a little easier. I get the last two numbers in order and move them together as one block. I get them "staged" on the edge under the corner. Then you can rotate them into place together. I didn't really understand the corner solving method shown here very well. It's fun how these can be solved in different ways.
i like this method! :D i use a slightly different one that uses shorter chains and doesn't solve the top then side first, it just goes down row by row but yours is probably faster!
I'm only here because I'm replaying Resident Evil 4 and I don't wanna look up to any solution guides online. But lemme tell ya. If the guy who invented this puzzle is dead, I'm gonna resurrect and kill 'im a second time.
Hello! Im having a serious problem that i cannot figure out yet, so there is this game called avalon code and there you have sliding puzzles, but this time it generates a gap in a random number (6 for example) and it gives you the piece of that gap so you can place it when your done with the 90% of the puzzle, i still cannot figure out how to create a technique in this. Please help!!

It was mentioned in the video. If the last 3 pieces don't work it's because either the physical puzzle was built wrong or because the electronic puzzle was programmed wrong. (not all permutations are valid when generating puzzles automatically)

A other method :
First solve the 1 tile like this:
1 x x x
Then solve the 2 tile like this:
1 2 x x
Then slide the 4 to the place that 3 should be or slide the 3 to the place that 4 should be so it will be like one of these:
1 2 4 x
or
1 2 x 3
Then do this:
1 2 4 0
x x 3 x
or
1 2 0 3
x x x 4
and
Type 1: Move the 4 to the 0 then move the 3 to the 0.
Type 2: Move the 3 to the 0 then move the 4 to the 0.
(0 = Empty Place)
Repeat at the second row.
Then you should get this:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
Then do this :
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
13 9 x x
0 x x x
or
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
0 x x x
9 13 x x
Type 1: Move the 13 to the 0 then move the 9 to the 0.
Type 2: Move the 9 to the 0 then Move the 13 to the 0.
(Again, 0 = Empty Place)
Repeat at the second column.
Then move the 3 pieces until they are solved.
This made so much sense, and it really helped me. The only thing is that there were a couple spots where I had to watch it in slo mo

How do you do the sideways problematic thing if ur empty square has to be in bottom left?
Please 😇🥺 help me what if 1to 6 is complete and the only problem is the 7and 8 how to separate them
The way I finish a row is, that I first place the second-to-last tile in the last tile's spot (so if the grid is 4x4, I put the number 3 into the 4 spot), then, I place the last tile of that row below it, and then I rotate both of them so that they get fixed.

5:28 HOW DO YOU KNOW THE GAP YOU NEED IS HERE????
how to solve this in general, I mean what if the board is not square? but rectangle like 6x3?
Very interesting! I love to solve them using my brain rather then just moving them here and there. Great vdo!
You are legendary for coming up with this method. Thank you so much
am i stupid or is it possible for a sliding puzzle to have a blank on the left corner
yes, the black/gap can be anywhere.
Even using this tutorial I still have trouble solving these loll.. I love puzzles but I suck at them so bad >.
Persistence! Give it some time and practice starting with the 3x3 one, I'm sure you can do it!
I still struggle with the bottom row on a 5x5 what am I doing wrong?
I have a trick if u want
Solve the 4th row . And then push the elements down one side and solve the remaining 4 of the bottom row.
I have a video solving 5*5 on yt too lol
Thank you, solving the top half of 4x4 was very easy but i struggled getting the bottom half solved
I'd love to see you solve the sliding-tiles puzzle in Pepper's Adventures In Time. I always end up with two tiles out of position.
i like this method! :D i use a slightly different one that uses shorter chains and doesn't solve the top then side first, it just goes down row by row but yours is probably faster!
