    You make great content and I especially appreciate your explanations. One suggestion is to break up your videos into smaller parts (15-20 min each) so you don't have to rush your speech and how you like to control the interface. I'm from US so I miss some things you say and have to replay those parts. Great job and keep them coming. I'm a long time subscriber.

      I try to build up from basic fundamentals, up to more basics to establish a framework - exceptions to those broader rules can stand out as exceptions from there. I think you can see my teaching style hinges from this and not doing 15 minutes on the difficulty settings. I go on the basis of respecting the viewer's intelligence to develop their own framework from the basics - helping find the floor and avoid feeling lost is the #1 objective. Still any advice or big corrections, always send them through! Cheers

      Absolutely a must try faction if lean more to order factions. The YY system is honestly a layer of benefit rather than a dire necessity. Just keep alternating your buildings to stay in harmony and on the battlefield just filed balanced armies and the formation will naturally gain battle harmony.
      The beauty of Cathay is this additional complexity allows you to manipulate Yin/Yang province bonuses to fasttrack recruitment or construction while escourting a Yang unit with a Yin unit to bolster their stats. Easy to learn, long to master *chef's kiss*

      In the upcoming video with Maio I'll demonstrate a siege defence but it's pretty similar to the one done here. If you can beat Vilitch's first army and delay Zhatan the wall should hold, but you may have to react. Difficulty may result in differences, but focusing on lowering the upkeep and even just a lord with some peasants will help the Bastions win the day.

    Great vid! How come you never bother with the bottom skill tree on Lords after Route Marcher? Is the casualty replenishment / control / recruit rank / etc etc not worth enough down there?

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question. Particularly on legendary you need everything to perform and be efficient for many situations. You lord and their army can only be empowered by the lord's skill line. Casualty replenishment is nowhere near as critical in WH3 thanks to settlements being so close, plus heroes can do this. Recruitment? You should recruit rarely for quality units or are hiring cheap units in a crisis. I don't value recruit reduction as a passive (though as an activated ability timed well it can be good) and recruitment, control and corruption are easily dealt with using followers/ancillaries.

  • @lololcleric
    @lololcleric 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi, been watching your videos for a little over a year now, (found your channel by looking up sisters of twilight guide) How often do you fight battles that are defeats according to auto-resolve? How do you weigh you can win or not? Do you seek them out or generally avoid them? There are times where I win with some of the formations you've recommend in the past, but other times I get overwhelmed. And for clarification, I'm asking for an army that isn't a shitstack.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey appreciate the long support. Battles that are defeats are often not worth fighting for field battles if you can't wipe out a singe unit.... as always, let's answer the "Why fight manually?". The auto resolve will often semi-damage all units but not kill any (thus they replenish those numbers in the settlement they just took).
      If your garrison has a unit of cavalry, keep that cavalry away from the action and if they have any artillery WIPE IT OUT. This is the single most potent thing you can do (enforce turns besieging so they don't just snowball through your provinces). If you think you can completely kill a hero? Wipe out their cavalry/flying units? .... So
      Question 1) can I wipe out anything that will make the next battle "more possible".
      Question 2) is it defence with towers? If so take a choke point and hammer their numbers with T3 or T4 towers. Even a pathetic garrison with towers will do some solid damage. Sometimes you will lose a couple of small settlements, the idea to ensure they take loses so your relief army (often of emergency quick units) can beat the enemy by then.
      Question 3) can you win it? Counting up the unit cards is a simple way of adding it up. In WH3 the autoresolve is so favorable to the player it's often better to auto (unlike WH2), but abilities and spells aren't factored in. If you can control the battlefield this can make the difference. Add up the unit cards then see "can I handle this?" Do they have armour? Do you have AP? Can my melee hero out duel their lord? Can I use "Plague of Rust" to lower their AP and use guns to down their hero? However, if it's a 4 vs 20 and they don't have any artillery, nor you any tools to win, save your time. I hope that maybe helped 😂

    • @lololcleric
      @lololcleric 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ElvenPlotArmour Yes it did! In regards to question 3, it's usually a "valiant defeat" that leads to: can I win it? > I don't know? > Try the battle. Because at worst, I lose. Sometimes I'll rematch to try again because I feel like I can actually win after the initial try. When I think about it more, it comes down to not knowing how a particular unit actually plays outside of its card classification. I get that each unit falls into a category, but it's not until I see the type of mayhem they can cause on the battlefield that I realize I should handle it differently. Thanks again.

    I just finished my first campaign ever after about four unsuccessful starts. This guide and your guide about unit categories were both excellent in helping. Don't be shy learning from guides. I still learn all the time in this massive game. Feel free to join and ask, but otherwise Gor-rok (lizardmen) is another good faction to learn with. Don't just "dismiss" your Lords anymore. There was an update, that lets you "respect" a Lord. That option will "wound" said Lord, which gets rid of them, but you can use that same Lord again later. (with all already acquired levels)
    Disbanding a Hero without immortality (lvl20) will kill them permanently.

    • @Michael_298

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      4 Crane Gunners is too many. Try just 2 Crane Gunners with an Ironhail Gunner in between them (spaced enough so they don't get tangled too quickly). Have 3 J Jade warriors and characters to catch the frontline and a couple more round the flanks, protecting your crossbows. 1-2 cannons is a good choice, you don't need more. If you have Yin magic, overcast and slow them on approach. Once engaged, use your Heavens Thunderbolt or Comet on big blobs.
      If they have heavy armour, Metal spell Plague of Rust drops the armour, allowing you to deal meaningful damage. Next video is Cathay Formations so please consider subbing and joining us then!

    You want them weak. Otherwise, they're almost impossible to Confederate
    Edit: Try to fight Snikch without Miao Ying. His defeat trait is horrible for your dragon Lords.
    Edit2: "Lore of Yin" is better then "Lore od Yang"

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I found this to be absolute necessity in earlier patches but I've found since SoC released it's now far easier to get confederations, albiet in the mid-late game. There was a time where you had to get the Dragon Lords down to 1 settlement to "maybe" get that Confed, now I feel it's less stressful. Still, your point is absolutely right if wanting to rush that confed and could well be the best route for an advanced player, but having the AI cover a front until a late game confed (I feel) is a good step for a new player.
