Bam is obviously an absolute legend in the skate scene and ive been a massive fan since i was a kid. I just don't think he needs to exaggerate these pictures so much and with so many people asking for my opinion i couldn't really look passed it.

Bam was literally one of the best up and coming skaters at the time. That's why he got a huge deal with Element. There was a lot of hype around Bam as a young skater. No clue what this guy was talking about.
Yeah that was in his up and coming days. Element deal was at his height. Then came the drugs and booze.

Yeah the CKY stuff with them screwing about drunk with trolleys/ shopping carts and jumping off roofs with big jackets on into bushes and shit just evolved into the Jackass stuff and they found some non skating crazy men like Knocksville to take it up a level. @@28russ cky was first, as far as i know. bam and them got introduced to jackass through skateboard connections, specifically jeff tremaine from big brother, bc the skits from cky were similar to what they were doing or planned to do with jackass.

the photo at 15:36 is my one of us, my brother didnt ollie off the bank you see in the photo, there's a launch to the right you can see which is what he went off of and he is landing into the bank you thought he popped from, I wasn't there for some of these photos but like the photo at 12:33 is real, The photographer edited the colors im sure and cut him out to change the lighting on him and brighten him up compared to the background im sure but but he didn't change the height and I have the footage of him landing that, it will be in a video I have been editing. Idk if thats the exact one he landed, so maybe for some photos the photo that turned out better was one he popped higher on than the one he actually landed for the video but thats very common for a skater to get the photo before the make. A lot of photos you see in magazines arent the one they land.

Regarding the 12:33 I wasn’t convinced that one was boosted in height, just confused as to why they had done such a funny job with the shadows and what not.
I was always under the impression that as long as you land the trick at some point. You can still use whatever picture looked best as long as it was the same trick so again good to have that confirmed.

@@LastTryMedia Bam is getting older and getting off drugs and alcohol and getting back on the board. That is fucking amazing. And for people to get up in his shit for that is disgraceful. Leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm 40 and trying to completely stay sober and get myself right and have back on my board for a few years now. It's no easy task. So, my hats off to the guy. His case is so extreme. Way worse than mine. I feel a bit connected to him because of it. He's inspiration for people like me.

Hey Dan I love your videos, but the part about bam not being as good of a skater as other pros were and only used stunts was to make his parts better is so false. Bam was a child prodigy. Early toy machine. Bam may not have been the the best at any one thing on the board but the impressive thing about bams skating is that he ripped EVERYTHING. Bam could do ledges, bam could do stairs, bam could do mini ramps, bam could do bowls, bam could skate switch, bam could grind rails. He was all around… and very very good at all of it. He def wasn’t a pro just because of jackass bam was a big name to skaters before jackass/ cky if you really wanna get technical jackass bit off cky.

The skate footage at the start DOES NOT match the photos whatsoever, this isn’t predatory, you can love Bam all you want. Be honest, he’s got mini ramp skills for days and a couple flip tricks left. To be fair, making tricks look bigger than they actually are has always been a thing. Using lower camera angles and such. I’m sure Bam isn’t the first to use photoshop to do stuff like this.

If you play with the levels contrast/shadows/brightness and play with invert, you can see more detail in faked photoshoped photos.

I remember Bam saying he taught his girlfriend how to shoot photos recently in a podcast so that might be why these pictures aren't the greatest but I do see what Dan is saying too.
If anything, he might be bailing out of the tricks after the photo is taken. They are all over-edited and probably taken on a phone, of course things are gonna get wonky looking.

That first image is totally doctored there is obvious repetitive patterns in the background trees showing evidence there has been some vertical extrusion done.

My theory is some of the photos are real but not makes. I have old pictures of myself launching a 5-foot frontside indy on a halfpipe. I've never landed a single one a foot above coping, but you can fake a picture if you put all your power into getting the height. Problem is you need that excess energy to stabilize your landing. At 44 years old, I'm sure Bam can still burst his energy for a photo op but then immediately bail.

its tough bc depending on the camera some have these weird artifacting things that they do to try and guess whats in the picture but a lot of times it just makes things look super weird and blobby (iphones have this) so that could be an explanation for things like 17:33 however 13:36 is def edited. they could have added the shadow for drama but i don’t see why they would do that bc it just looks fake. sad if its true and he doesnt feel good enough posting what he can actually do :/

FYI: you can absolutely get that height at the dustbowl ditch. He's not riding the main ditch (to the left) - he's coming in from the right and blasting off that steep corner. Is it fake? maybe. But that trick is 100% possible at that spot.
