Building Veyran, Voice of Duality with dragon's approach. I considered Birgi, Torbran and others but I really want to have a splash of blue to help me keep consistent. I took a long look at Kykar as well and I think it would be a great deck but I couldn't bring myself to take apart my Kykar build.
Adding blue is never a bad option, it's a shame that blue doesn't add too much to a deck with alot of same name cards. The only card that jumps out is sphinx of the chimes. Veyran is definitely a good choice though.
@@PassingPriority I think adding blue offers a lot. It adds Thousand year storm, about a million card draw options, epic experiment, Rowen scholar of sparks, tutors, cyclonic rift, goblin electromancer. To name only a few. I will re-examine this as a mono red build before committing, also consider obosh. But I don't think blue is short on cards to benefit this strategy.
I know this is late, but if you're adding blue, you can use Dragon's Approach to tutor for Astral Dragon, and Astral Dragon can copy Cursed Mirror infinitely and give all the copies haste.
Obosh was one of the commanders I did think about for this deck. And secret salvage is a good reason to due so. Personally I like the card advantage of syr carah but adding black would be a powerful move.

I think Kenrith is powerful enough by himself to lead most decks, I don't know if he would add much else but colours as he synergizes more with a creature strategy.
I think Velomachus would be an interesting take,getting a free cast on most attacks, but I think if you want to build it Boros/Lorehold I would choose Firesong and Sunspeaker.

Neheb is amazing, brought my version of this deck to the table and absolutely toasted the play sesh. safe to say- it’s not allowed anymore lol.
Glad to hear it! the mana ramp neheb can provide is incredible. hopefully your play group will allow it again, or they just need more lifegain decks.

no one running obosh burn with this? Secret Salvage is such a good card that mono red just doesnt have

Although I am looking for a good way to build Velomachus, Boros is one of my favourite colour combinations.
