Wonderful family, especially the children. These foreign foods are difficult to acclimate. Granite has been such a beast. Cedar is coming along and I notice she's willing to try more and more. At Forrest's age, you can't really blame him - although in past videos he's surprised me by trying/eating stuff that many toddlers would not. Another fantastic video; keep going !!!
Jonathan, I have subscribed your channel quite some time. I am always amazed by how the kids behave, they are so amazing, I am sure you have an excellent way of parenting. And the way you interact with your families are so respectful, I really love that! Forest is superrrrrrrrr adorable ahhhhhhhhhhh and Granite is always up for trying new food! @@BagsPackedFamily Jonathan, by any chance are you planning to bring the kids in visiting Taiwan any of these days? 26:30 This is a Vietnamese herb, it has a name: Shiso Perilla. You can eat them raw or for cooking, like all herbs, for example as parsley, dill, basil...

I agree. Kelly has been so patient in all of the videos even though I can see her feeling so hungry and so patient. She lights up when she got to eat a vegetarian food. A suggestion that you use Google translate to ask for vegetarian dish and eat together as a family cohesively. That will look nicer, eating as a family and not leave one out.

FYI Chin = well cooked brisket . Tai = undercooked meat . Tai Nam = undercooked and fatty meat . About the pickles , by the color you can tell which vegetable or fruit it is : white is daikon , orange is carrot , light green is green papaya and light yellow is green mango . The fried spring roll contains ground pork , crab meat or seafood , glass vermicelli , shaved jicama and carrot , eggs , onion , garlic , pepper , fish sauce , a bit of sugar and salt . The purple leaf is not mint or basil but perilla , an aromatic herb that we use a lot in stew , soup , fried or fresh spring rolls and grilled meat . It's called Tia To in Vietnamese .

26:37 "perilla" It is a commonly used herb in Vietnamese households. It has many effects, especially in treating mild flu. It is good for health. There is a brother to it, it looks very similar but it is blue, not purple. It's "Vietnamese balm"
Pho in the US costs 10 times more than in Vietnam. However, the number of pho each restaurant sells daily in Saigon, Hanoi and other cities in Vietnam can be 10 times higher than in the US. Therefore, the revenue from selling pho for each business household in Vietnam and the US is equal.
As a Vietnamese, i would reccomend red rice or black rice with seasame or peanuts(for other combo you can try black beans rice with côcnut shred&seasam). The red/black rice is already sweet so need to add other things in (i sometime eat red sticky rice with sugar lol). Sticky rice actually a very good vegetarian dish in Hanoi. As for non vegetarian, you can try yellow sticky rice with fried shallot and dry pork shred. It's a filling combo for non vegetarian.

It would be difficult when vegetarians have to eat out with others (friends, family, to name but a few). However, in Hanoi there are many vegetarian restaurants that she and her family can try. She doesnt need to fast. She needs to add plant ingredients such as mushrooms, tofu, and nuts to her daily diet to maintain/improve her health.
