Condor Ferries - Our Trip From Poole To Guernsey, As Calm As It Gets!

  • A trip on the Condor Ferries, Condor Liberation fast ferry service from Poole, Dorset to Guernsey in the Channel Islands. We are not the best sailors but luckily it was as calm as the English Channel ever gets.
    You can read more about the full crossing here : www.flydriveexplore.com/trave...
    It was misty and wet when we left Poole but the skies were clearing when we arrived at St Peter Port in Guernsey. The crossing was very smooth so we could try the food and do a bit of Duty Free shopping.
    As Guernsey has Duty Free status there is a limited amount you can buy in the onboard shop - 1 litre of spirits and 6 bottles of wine.
    The journey time was 3 hours on the fast ferry, compared to 7 hours on the traditional ferry service. Each passenger gets a designated seat in the lounge so when you park your car there is no rush to get to the lounge.

    Looks like a lovely way to commute. Glad you had calm water even with a bit of rain. Still cracks me up that the ferries have duty free! Good business idea!

    Ferry rides are the best. This one is definitely in comfort class. I would fall asleep in the seating area too, it looks comfortable. What a calm English channel - surprising!

      It was as calm as the English Channel ever gets, it was like a lake when we were approaching Guernsey.

    Ferry rides are always fun. I remember taking one between Victoria and Vancouver and it was a very similar experience. Thanks for sharing.

      It was fun in the calm weather. I'm not that good when the waves pick up.

    It's a shame that the Normandy express from Portsmouth to cherbourg or from Poole is no longer in service brittany ferries time for a rethink

    I am not really the ferry/cruise kind of traveler but this looks amazing!!

      It's a great way to get your car to the Channel Islands, no luggage restrictions like on a plane. There were lots of camper vans onboard.

    Gloomy day. Too bad you couldn't see farther out. The seats inside looks really comfy.

      Although gloomy, it did brighten up when I arrived in Guernsey. The sea was so calm which was good, the English Channel can get quite rough.

    There isn't the cooperation of Mr. sun, aye! But the waters look calm! The best is duty free haha! I have seasick, I usually don't take ferries but recently I took one because I had no choice, it was fun tho! There was a viewdeck where there was a videoke challenge! While ,Condor Ferries does sound comfy!

      Yep, the sun didn't want to make an appearance but as I do get seasick, I was happy with the calm crossing.

    We really enjoyed our trip from Poole to St Malo two years back. Ferry was much more posh than the ones here in Washington State. Unlike your trip ours was sunny and beautiful.

      I was surprised how nice the ferry was. Although it was overcast I was pleased how calm the crossing was.

    What a great weather :))))) I usually like to walk around and go on the deck when I am on a ferry, but not when the weather is bad, When did you take the ferry? I

      It was a few days after the Rotterdam trip. It's always windy on deck as the boat is the fast ferry and moves much quicker than the standard ship. Although overcast look at how calm the sea was.

    Glad to see it was calm despite the cloudiness. Looks like a cool experience all around. How long did the ride last?

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was 3 hours compared to about 7 hours on a standard ferry.

    Going to Jersey 🇯🇪 in October for 4 days can you still do a day trip to Guernsey 🇬🇬 by boat....
    Never been down there 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think still they do although it does look quite expensive for a day trip. Not sure how much time it gives you on the island before you have to come back.

      Yep, before the beard. I think I grew it when I had really bad flu and couldn't get out of bed for a few weeks.

    Remember, if you see an iceberg off the port bank on the starboard...just sayin'. I am Rudderless after all!!! I love ships...fun. I love the drug store in the ship...lol

      @flydriveexplore  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be a surprise to see an iceberg in the English Channel but with the climate the way it is, you never know.

      @@flydriveexplore how much did it cost tbere doing day trips for two for 46 pound can i take my car

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shamrahman1655 Looking at the price I think that's the price for foot passengers, better check direct with them is you want to take the car, although I wouldn't bother taking it for just a day trip.
