- Class 37/4's and 37/0 at Fort William and 37404 at Mallaig during the Summer of 1986. This was before 156's were introduced to the West Highland line and shows how long the trains used to be and the shunting involved - plus the mixed passenger & freight working departing for Mallaig.
To accompany this there will be a 'window bash' movie from Mallaig-Fort William-Rannock behind 37404 - watch this space! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Magic days! Freedom of Scotland rover, what value that was in 86/87!!!! 👍😊👍
Lovely. Been to Scotland 50 times so you are bringing back wondeful memories to me.
Love the propelling and driving from the far cab in so many cases. Excellent stuff
Beautiful scenery and great oldschool action !
+TRSPomerania These were the days indeed - at least the scenery is still there, if not the 37's.
Are there any more 37's left in UK in common / special use?? Greetings from PL ;)
TRSPomerania yes there's a few in use with DRS and Network Rail. DRS uses some of them on passenger services along the Cumbrian coast line from Carlisle and from Norwich to Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft. Network Rail has IIRC 3 of them.
Very good, done fort william behind tractors about 9 years ago,euston-ft willliam & back nice to see large logo livery again.
Wonderful shots and scenes Darren - marvellous sounds of the 37s and clag displays - if only time could be turned back
I remember these and travelling to Oban around this time on these wonderful trains 👍😀
This was a great era for sure, and the sound of Class 37s through the West Highlands is something I really miss - thankfully I have this footage.

I live in Fort William it's nice to see the old town
If you live there you see it many times
Unless your a hermit....
@@freedvonee512 OK, let me rephrase that, it's nice to see how the town looked nearly 40 years ago.
Proper locos in proper liveries!
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing!
Back in the day, when everything was blue. Sky, trains, people...
Movies...magazines
Great great video, 37022 looks awesome, what a beast! Good memories of my time in Bonnie Scotland Darren.
Mallaig is in Scotland
Yes, a joy to see !! - Ian 👍
one word for this video, BRILLIANT,
That's 6 words...
There'll be some out of the window bashing behind 37404 from Mallaig-Fort Wiliam-Rannock to come soon! :-)
Think theres bars over the windows now
Brilliant :)
I am a fan of running rounds , thks
Lots of this to enjoy back in loco-hauled days - now it's just the Sleeper and charter trains doing it here.
This is about running a railway to suit peoples' and communities' needs not just the profit margins of some disinterested venture capital company
How the railway should be run!
The different fronts of the 37s is interesting. Did every workshop do as they liked?
I suppose something did have to be done though as these trains look pretty empty. It's a shame now that they can't run 6 car all the way to Mallaig in Summer as, any time I've been on in the last couple of seasons, it definitely needs it
